My predictions . . . I can't vote against our girls, but it will be a toss-up for 1 and 2 in my opinion. Bats should be stronger this year for The Hill. The last two seasons has been all about defense with little attention to batting practice. That's all CHANGED this year with lots of emphasis on swinging the bats.

Don't get me wrong, Boone is a very good team. I agree too that the talent at Winged Deer was weak, not sure why VA schools looked that bad. I think it will come down to Boone and Science Hill. They could very easily split during the season and neither one lose another conference game. I guess it will ultimately come down to how gels the best in the end. Pitching, defense and bats are on very good on both teams.

Also don't forget that Science Hill only has two starters that are seniors. I think the Boone/SHHS games will be a must watch. A lot of these girls play together in the summer and know each other well. We'll find out who wants it the most.

Any comments on the Unicoi - Science Hill game today?

Disappointing on our part. Pitching, defense and batting (for the most part), all looked disappointing. I know it was the first game, but I thought we would have played better. Unicoi looks to be a very solid team. UC pounded our pitchers and their (UC) defense was solid. Can't judge a team by one game, but looks like we have some more work to do. Headed to Crockett tomorrow.
