Freshman Baseball

We are looking to start a freshman baseball team this season. Last year we started a middle school team and that turned out to be very successful and now we want to give a freshman team a try. We have the following questions:

1. Are there other freshman teams in the East Tennessee Area (Chattanooga to Bristol)?

2. Is there any post-season play for freshman teams?

3. Do those schools that have freshman teams play only other freshman teams or do they also play junior varsity teams?

4. We would like to schedule some games. Does anyone have any contact numbers or email addresses?

1. I know Farragut HS has a freshman team. Bearden may also have one with their new coach moving over from Farragut. I can't think of anyone else in the Knoxville area.

2. & 3. The freshman teams usually play against other JV teams and in JV tournaments, some are scheduled at the end of the season..\

The fall "JV" teams fielded by many of the Knoxville area high schools consist of primarily freshmen and sophomores.

 

There's going to be a fall league a Lakeshore Park in Knoxville. However, I don't know whether the league will be varsity and JV, or just varsity.

It's my understanding that Farragut will not have a Freshman team this year. They did not have one last year and the Freshmen that played....played JV teams. The middle school has fielded a team for the up coming year and will feed the HS team.

 

Coach Pharr would be a great person to talk to about it....or Jim Braden. Braden volunteered to do, and did, the freshman teams when #12 was a freshman and Soph.

Last year Farragut had only one Junior Varsity team

FA15 is correct....only 1 JV. It consisted of the Sophmores and about 6 Freshmen. Try-0uts are Monday and Tuesday at Farragut......I anticipate only a JV squad this year as well.
