They do have some great facilities. And they're going to win a few games. It's just a soft culture at LC. They're going to have success in soccer, baseball, softball and basketball to some extent, at least until they move up in classification and start competing in a region with neighbors Station Camp, Gallatin, Hendersonville and Beech (and yes, I realize that they've beaten some of those schools in some sports already, but it's a different dynamic when you compete in a region with all of the big boys - in 5A or 6A in football, in 4A in basketball and in AAA in everything else). However, the LC football program is just not hard-nosed. They don't show signs of wanting to be physical. I'm not sure that Bill has a goal of instilling that in them either. He's well-respected as a coach, but they're just not very physical. You might survive to some extent because they're aren't a ton of physical football teams out there nowadays, but you're not beating a Hendersonville or a Beech if you're not physical. They took a beating at the hands of Westmoreland two years ago and another against Portland last season (and a 21-point loss to a sub-.500 White House squad as well).
I love the additions to the coaching with Ryan and Chase. One would be inclined that those guys will be assets and hopefully help increase the overall physicality, and I know that you're getting on board with these programs that all of the East Robertson coaching staff has scattered to (Brooks at LC, Alexander at Page, etc.). And I'm with you as far as Stroup constantly being cute on social media (you don't see that much from head coaches at the high school level), but be careful in throwing out "I would rather play at a school with great facilities" type of comments. That stadium doesn't feel as lavish when you're on the wrong end of scores like 31-0, 32-7 and 35-14. On the bright side, they've likely figured out that the lights on the visitor side of the scoreboard are functioning at a high-quality level befitting that of the beautiful stadium that they regularly fall short in.
That may not continue forever. LC may improve. It may become THE program in Sumner County at some point. But if they're struggling mightily in 4A, what's going to happen when they find themselves in 5A soon? In fact, LC should be considerably better this season. They're getting several transfers, about five from Station Camp (though some are younger if I'm not mistaken).
And just an FYI, I'm not anti-LC. I've been on the field with much of that coaching staff at one point or another. It is what it is though. I, for one, would rather win in East Robertson's blue-collar facility than lose in Liberty Creek's "stadium."
