In Tuesday's state tennis semifinals in Murfreesboro, Baylor sisters Samantha and Harper Caswell are second generation net players as their dad and coach, Ned Caswell, played at Furman.

Baylor takes on Harpeth Hall at noon EST (GPS meets Hutchison in the other semis match) in the BlueCross Spring Fling XX which has a third generation high school player in Hannah Maclellan whose family roots started on Lookout Mountain.

The Maclellan family tennis tree shows junior Hannah Maclellan, her father Dan Maclellan ( Nashville) and aunt Elizabeth Maclellan and grand father Hugh O. Maclellan (Lookout Mountain).

Dan played No.1 for Chattanooga Christian in the mid-1908s, while Hugh O. played for McCallie in the mid-1950s and also played No.1 singles for Vanderbilt for four years. He was the first Southern Prep Rotary singles champion as a McCallie senior in 1957. Elizabeth Maclellan was a three-time state doubles champion at Chattanooga Christian and a three-time All-American (NCAA D-III) at Wheaton College.

Hannah will also compete in the individual state tournament beginning Thursday as she won the East/Middle Region title.

Three Generations at McCallie ... The Blue Tornado netters show three generations of tennis players with Turner Voges playing for his father, Eric Voges, who played at McCallie and Tennessee. Eric's aunt Marilyn Voges Brown attended Chattanooga City High School and played No.2 singles on the U. of Chattanooga men's tennis team in the late 1950s. Eric's oldest son, Sawyer (McCallie) and daughter, Callie (Notre Dame) also played prep tennis and were on state championship teams.
