  1. If coaching didn't matter, why are the same teams there every year? Oh, it matters.
  2. It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one. George Washington Never make excuses. Your friends don't need them and your foes won't believe them. John Wooden Losers make excuses, winners make it happen. Anonymous Tullahoma has a very good team and Sheffield is a great talent. They just lost to a team and a pitcher who were better on that day.
  3. Well Tullahoma fans, I'm sure y'all had the best team in the state and should have won the tournament. I'm just so sorry that the umpires were not made aware of this fact before y'all got here. Good luck to you next year.
  4. Long time MLB umpire (28 years in the bigs), Dale Ford is back in Murfreesboro calling the AAA tournament. He will undoubtedly be behind the plate for the championship game on Friday. He does high school games in upper East Tennessee and does not charge for his services during the year or at the state tournament. Ford is a professional and conducts himself as such on the field. He does have an MLB strike zone which some people have a hard time adjusting to. It's funny to hear people yelling at him like he doesn't know what he is doing. He is a great ump and apparently a great guy as well. If you see him, thank him for his service.
  5. Farragut Admirals returning to the State Tournament for the 14th time in the last 16 years.
  6. Powell is an enigma for sure. Always said to have the best talent in Knoxville but never get out of the region and rarely even get out of the district. Why is this the case?
  7. Always a great tournament, well run with top of the line competition. Y'all need to do something about the weather, though. Seems like it's always cold and raining.....or snowing (ha). First class operation and year in and year out, its the best mid season HS baseball tournament in the state.
  8. Martin Westview -- Humboldt 1970. Both teams were undefeated and Martin had not lost a game in four years. It may still be the largest crowd to ever see a game at UTM's stadium. Humboldt ran the opening kickoff back for a TD and Westview drove the length of the field for a score on their first possession. The game was tied 20-20 and Martin Westview hit a FG on the last play of the game for a 23-20 win.
  9. Well, since the Farragut Admirals have been to EVERY State Tournament but one since 1997, I would say they are a favorite to return.
