  1. .......... brackets are finalized; time to analyze
  2. Bsf no argument with your selections except: 170- Noe 182- Tywater If Nick heals up I'm going with Oberstaedt at 138; that's a big IF. Regards Rod
  3. I corrected the number of qualifiers from Forrest and Fairview. It"s an indication of how competitive Region 3 is, and I agree with CF93, that Region 3 is stacked with talent. With us leaving A-AA and the subsequent region realignments; Fairview and Forrest will make a significant impact next year. EDIT Sorry Fairview is going west next year not east; Forrest will be duking it out with the Chattanooga teams. Look out east and west ! I should also mention that Nolensville impacted our region in a big way. They were the spoilers this year and A-AA teams should not take them lightly over the next few years. Coach Peck is already laying the foundation for a powerhouse, just as he did at Ravenwood. Best regards Rod
  4. GW I just got home, so thanks for posting the results. It does not tell the whole story. This was the most intense Region 3 I have ever been a part of. More like a MMA tourney , or if you will "The Battle of Franklin". Lots of broken and bloody grapplers. Those of you who were there know exactly what I am referring to. Muday / Oberstaedt semi's was a brawl and Nick got the short end; he still managed to qualify in spite of his injuries(plural) and it was a heroic effort on his part. Parcel suffered a gash above his eye; and to his credit wrestled and qualified. Ha wrestled his consolation's with a broken foot and nearly pulled it off, came down to the last 2 secs. Turner nearly pulled off an upset; but the call in the last second of his con semi did not go his way. Tuff, but thats life. Austin Harshaw had a bitter sweet loss in his con-semi in OT. Should have gone his way; It was a hard pill to swallow for all of us; but again thats life. Our boy's battled, bled and some were literally broken; but none quit. Warriors in all. I'm very proud of them. Fairview and Greenbrier had their share as well. I spoke to Josh(Greenbrier) and Bubba(Fairview) respectfully; we agreed this tourney was brutal. We are all limping into state next week; hoping everyone recovers enough to make a good showing. Of the top four teams in the region Greenbrier qualified 7 Page qualified 7 Forrest qualified 6 Fairview qualified 6 Camper and Tywater were voted Best wrestlers of the year Noe was voted Best wrestler of the Tournament Congratulations to all who qualified for state; I can honestly say each and everyone earned it tonight. Best Regards Rod Teague
  5. A-AA Parcel is at 152 and has been for a while.
  6. 106 Barn burner; Turner is the fly in the ointment, would not surprise me to see him in the finals 113 Gross, Becker, Mclemore and Cole Winer. I agree that all four top seeds could be medalists in the state tourney; they are the toast of A-AA in this weight class 120 Pendley, Fussell and Ford.... jeez; someone is really gonna be disappointed. Three potential state medalist who will sort it out this weekend. 126 Hatcher, Hunter, Filaroski, and Pharris; I'm giving Filaroski the edge. Not biased at all n this one 132 Jones, Bass, Ben Winer and Yusef; Winer and Yusef will upset the apple cart. Don't be surprised if one of the two is standing on the region 3 champion podium. 138 I'm going out on a limb.... Nick Oberstaedt 145 Camper and Prater in the finals 152 Hackert and Parcel 160 The betting man would put their money on McCoy, but if Harshaw wrestles like he did in the state duals; it might be him at number one. 170 John Noe 182 Houston Tywater 195 Zach Diviney and Tanner Lynch. This will be a epic bout. i give the edge to Zach. Like Benji say's, Zach is a "wrastler". The kid has grit. Would not surprise me if he win's it all at state. 220 Toby Lynch 285 My gut is... who ever ends up on top!! Lee and Spence in the finals. We are on the eve of Region 3 A-AA; gonna be a great tourney!!!! Best Regards Rod Teague
  7. At 106 Gifford would have been the 1 seed; but since Turner dropped from 113 he and Gifford had a wrestle off and Turner won handily. Due to criteria Turner had to take the 6th seed; but in reality he will be a formidable challenge to the 1 and 2 seeds. 106 is going to be a barn burner for sure Regards Rod
  8. sorry about gobbly gook; when I did a copy and paste from track it was nice and neat until I clicked "post" then it went to "heck in a handbasket". Ok,now. Lets talk Region 3
  9. It was a great tourney in all 3 divisions. Regarding shared practice time, I became involved with the Page program six years ago and have coached the last four; Page has regularly practiced with Ravenwood and BGA over Christmas break and the week leading up to individual state. I believe Benji started the practice long before my son came on the scene. I only say this to reinforce mrfixalot49's assertion that there are many other teams involved with the practice of "shared" workout/practice time. Best Regards Rod

  11. Thanks for the props, Greenbrier has a great team and we were looking forward to the re-match since it went GB's way the first time we met this season. Had the bouts started in the middle weight classes it would have been a nail biter down to the last match. In fact, the top four teams were about as evenly matched as I have witnessed in the last 4-5 years and any one of the four could have been on the top podium had a single bout gone another direction. Congratulations to Pigeon Forge, Greeneville, Page and Greenbrier for giving us a show stopper last weekend. Best Regards Rod Teague
  12. We don't get a lot of press or props, so this was nice for a change. Most insiders have figured out Page is an up and coming program and Benji's team did a spectacular job of confirming what many have suspected, seen and experienced this year. I'm very proud of all our wrestlers and looking forward individual regionals and the state tournament. BTW don't sell us short once we move to AAA. Go Patriots! Posted: Sunday, February 5, 2017 5:45 am | Updated: 10:00 am, Sun Feb 5, 2017. By Maurice Patton for the Williamson Herald | 0 comments Benji Gray said at the onset of this weekend’s TSSAA State Dual Wrestling tournament that the Class A/AA quarterfinal matchup between his Page Patriots and Pigeon Forge could just as easily be a championship clash. When the smoke cleared at the Williamson County Ag Expo, Gray wasn’t far off base. The Patriots’ two-point loss Friday turned out to be the closest match Pigeon Forge faced en route to the state title, as the Tigers defeated Notre Dame in Friday’s semifinals and Greeneville in Saturday’s finals by more comfortable margins. Page, meanwhile, closed out its A/AA stay by rallying to defeat Stratford, Alcoa and Greenbrier in Saturday’s consolation bracket to place third in the eight-team, double-elimination tourney. It was the best finish by any of the five local entries in the state duals, as Summit and Independence were both eliminated in their initial Class AAA consolation matches. Brentwood Academy defeated Battle Ground Academy in a Division II consolation match, but lost to Baylor in its next contest. For the Patriots, the rally from that opening-day loss led to the program’s best-ever finish as a move to Class AAA looms for next season. “We started the day telling them they had to have the will – the desire and the determination – to come back,†Gray said. “We’ve wrestled five matches in a day, so we were prepared for this. We were led by our seniors. Our guys stepped up and did their jobs. They won big and lost small. That’s been our mantra.†Against Stratford, Page didn’t lose a match on the mat. Starting at the 285-pound weight class, the Patriots opened with a forfeit win, followed by pins at 106 (Mitchell Turner), 113 (Cole Winer) and 120 (Ian Daffron) before an Alek Filaroski 11-1 major decision at 126 made it a 28-0 score. Vincent Ha added a forfeit win at 132 and Nick Oberstaedt won by pin at 138, and Page led 40-0 before forfeiting at four of the final seven weights for a 52-24 victory. In the Alcoa semifinal, Page similarly seized control early – scoring 25 straight points to open before the Tornadoes picked up a major decision at 138. However, Oberstaedt answered with a pin at 145 and Austin Harshaw did so at 160, and a forfeit win at 170 put the contest out of reach for Alcoa in an eventual 43-30 decision. Greenbrier pressured the Patriots early, with pins at 120 and 132 to lead 12-9 after the first four weight classes. A Laz Bibeau decision at 138 tied the team score and sparked a run of six consecutive Page wins – including pins by Harshaw, John Noe (170) and Houston Tywater (182) to put the contest out of reach. Page forfeited the final four weights for a 37-36 victory. “The only control I have is the lineup,†Gray said. “Ultimately it’s the guys stepping on the mat and getting the job done. “This was a great way to end things in Class A/AA. I think you could put us in the championship match against either Pigeon Forge or Greeneville (Pigeon Forge won 41-26) and we’d still have the crowd on their feet.†In Class AAA, Summit was eliminated by Halls and Independence was ousted by Arlington in matches that were contested right to the end. A controversial pin at 220 turned the match for Summit in an eventual 38-36 loss. “We got reversed to our back, on the (boundary),†Pete Miller explained. “It could have gone either way. It was an opinion call, and that was the call. We shouldn’t have gone to our back. But hat’s off to Halls. If we wrestle 10 times, we probably go 5-5, but this was their day. “I’m proud of this team. We’re not done yet. We’ll come back Monday and start getting ready for individual regionals and individual state.†Independence trailed Arlington by five going into the final weight class, 285, but Isaiah Demello was unable to come up with the tying technical fall or winning pin – instead dropping a 6-5 decision. “We dug some holes for ourselves early in the match,†Jared Grindstaff said. “We tried to dig out a little bit, but our decision making did us in. “We had a lot of bad habits throughout the season that, when adversity hits, they’re hard to hide.†Brentwood Academy opened DII consolation wrestling Saturday with a 46-21 win over BGA, but lost to Baylor 49-30 in the consolation semifinals. Bradley Central defeated Cleveland 35-24 in the Class AAA finals, with Father Ryan defeating McCallie 45-27 to claim its second straight DII title.
