  1. I disagree about the transfer rules but my guess is you knew that. I will be sure to follow the rulers even though they are minor, petty, little and silly.
  2. You are correct, some rules do not benefit the kids and some do. The ones that do are good and the ones that don't are silly. I do not care whether the TSSAA likes Signal and I have no idea whether other schools do it or not. For the record, I have not had my hand caught in any jars. As I mentioned earlier, I kind of like it when Signal loses. I just don't find the TSSAA to be a particulaurly admirable organization and the Signal football players who have nothing to do with this have paid a pretty heavy price. But, we can feel good about following the rules.
  3. My point is not that once should ignore the rules, but I am not interested in being passive about trying to change rules that have nothing to do with FAIR AND SQUARE. Oh. and thanks for the advice.
  4. Some rules are for the kids, like say, oh, minimum grade requirements and illegal hit rules. Silly transfer rules and paperwork are all about bureaucracy- not the kids.
  5. Are they good reasons? I think if I was at schoolA I would think we should step it up a little bit. It sounds to me like it is not about competing but about winning- If I lose then it is not fair.
  6. What if they are stupid rules? Oh well, too bad for the kids.
  7. The Signal Mountain game is usually the third score I look for on Saturday morning. As a general rule, I hope to find that they lost. However, even from that perspective, it makes me sick to see what the TSSAA does to kids in the name of helping them. It seems that we adults, in this case with the TSSAA being our agent, seem to believe that we should help these kids by managing the outcomes of athletic programs to get the results that we want. We set up silly little rules that have nothing to do with what is best for the kids. Why would anyone care that a kid, even if he is a good athlete, transfers from LFO to Howard to Signal Mountain? For reasons that are really none of our business, the kid and his family have obviously decided that Signal is the right place for him. Apparently the TSSAA has decided that they are wrong. As a result, they have created a lie; Signal is 0-1. Of course we all know that with the exception of Blackman, where they got smoked, Signal has won every game, most of them handily. We all know they are 6-1 and so do their kids and the kids they played. The Signal Mountain players, especially the seniors, have just had something they love, something for which they have worked very hard, both individually and as a team, ripped away from them for reasons that have nothing to do with them. Let’s hear it for the TSSAA and their silly rules. After all, it is for the kids.
  8. I'm relieved. I was not sure you would understand.
  9. Again, fair enough- Baylor is apparently committed to the players, the students, the atmosphere, and their memories- not a half full stadium and access for all.
  10. Fair enough. I do not think that the interest level is any greater than it has ever been but obviously the home team can have the game wherever they choose.
  11. There was a time not too long ago when the game was held on the McCallie campus. I recall it to be an exciting environment certainly on par with the game being held at Baylor. It seems that more and more players and students on both sides are speaking out on their feelings that they find the on campus environment more desirable and memorable than Finley, which, frankly, is pretty sterile for a high school game. What has changed that makes a home game unfeasible?
  12. If this is true, then you must be saying that as long as any supposed liability might lie elsewhere, then McCallie is willing to let their team participate in an unsafe environment. I am pretty sure that is not the case. It was obviously not deemed unsafe by those other than you. Back to the game- congratulations on a great comeback by the Big Blue. Most teams would have rolled over after the first half but McCallie fought back to have a chance to win on their last drive. It made for an intense- too intense for those of us in red- 4th quarter.
  13. Cleveland at Red Bank contributed to the traffic issues as well. Goes to show how important high school football is in the South when three big games at one end of town creates grid- lock.
  14. Hopefully the netcasting will only improve.
  15. This is not an effort to take anything away from Simpson- he was phenominal- and a NCAA finals appearance certainly confirms it. However, I don't see how he made the most noise nationally in the last 30 years. Jordan Leen was a Senior Nationals champion and a three time NCAA All American with a third place finish and a NCAA Championship. That's pretty noisy.
  16. That was certainly an oversight in the design of the wrestling facilities. Unfortunately, I doubt there are any capital funds set aside to correct this problem. I guess we will just have to bring our own popcorn.
  17. I think you are right. No good 8th grade wrestler wants to be part of a program that has an energetic multi-generational fan base to support them. Quiet, poorly attended wrestling matches where the kids don't have all that noise to distract them is always the way to go.
  18. Good point. Why would any good 8th grade wrestler want to be part of a first class program with first class coaches and first class facilities that offers the likelihood of being on multiple state championship teams while getting a first class education?
  19. Sommers- You expose me as less than intelligent. Never do I read one of your posts and understand any more than 1/4 of what you are trying to say. Often it is less and sometimes O.
  20. As the word means, you are inferring certain things from my comments. The only problem is that those things are not there. I certainly don't think that Bradley is afraid of Baylor, or anyone else for that matter. Now I did say that Baylor was running to Minnesota but I think you are probably aware that I really don't believe that. It is common knowledge why the schools do not wrestle and you are right, whether I agree or not does not matter. It is all about D1 and DII. D1 and DII exist and as long as D1 schools run the TSSAA the divisions will continue to exist. I don't think it is good for Tennessee wrestling, or Tennessee high school sports for that matter, but, as you said, my opinion on that really doesn't matter either.
  21. I was only offering you some confirmation.
  22. Absolutely- everybody knows that Baylor has a tradition of running from local competition. They even travel to Minnesota just to make sure they don't have to wrestle Bradley.
  23. You would be right- I totally missed it. My apologies.
