Does Goodpasture have a radio station that broadcast the games..I am stuck in Murfreesboro and can't make it to the game but would like to listen to it.

I agree...We need to learn to pass the ball. We get in these games such as HC were we are not running the ball well and yet we stick to that for the whole game because the passing game is not there. I realize running is our bread and butter under the wing-t but somethings gotta give. Goodpasture runs the wing-t but they threw on us last year in the playoffs. We saw how succesful that was. It opened up their running game in the 2nd half. I think Sharp is a good coach but until he learns that he needs to shift some focus to passing he will never be a great coach. The threat of a pass will only help our running game! Congrats to Dakota Crews for winning Mr. Football!

Not that it matters....but how many players do you have that should be playing at E. Hickman. My understanding is...and could be wrong...you guys are pretty much playing with your 4a squad still...only the ones who wouldn't get playing time went to East. If true ..the tssaa won't allow it for long and your win isn't as impressive. As far as smacking us in the mouth..not much difference in stats. I still think 9 outta 10 games LC would win. HC had a good game plan and I will be pulling for them next week against Goodpasture.

Lewis County should win big in this one. Looking over the schedule this season..it does look like a 10-0 season. It looks like Hickman County is suppose to be our biggest challenge left this season. They are in the Top 10 on the current AP Poll so they must be a pretty good team.. I really thought at first they would be a cupcake since their school split. I was impressed by their Marshall County score. I'll still take my panthers for a perfect season....and before anyone says anything again about the playoffs and us not beating the privates....I already know we don't have a legit chance at winning state. Take a look at Goodpasture...2-0 so far against 5a teams..I don't think the private school mutiplier thing is working to well. They are even better than last year and we all know how that went down.

I agree with most of your post except the example of columbia families moving to hohenwald for sports. Lewis County has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state so I can't see many people being able to afford to do this. I realize they could drive out of county to work but thats another discussion. Still...I liked your post and found the urban/rural topic interesting...never have even thought about that!

I am coming to the game but last time I made the trip I got caught up in traffic...840 shut down for 4 hours. Didn't make it to the game until halftime! Anyway..I am sure Goodpasture games are broadcast on the radio..can someone tell me what station? Just in case!

Doesn't mean crap I know but gonna put it here anyway....CPA beat DCA 39-14....Camden beat DCA 41-10. I really don't see why people would say Camden is gonna be blown out...I say Camden wins 31-21!

Good thing you didn't because the only team who has the right to run their mouth about winning state is Alcoa. They are the defending champs and also only lost to the monster 4a Maryville by a couple of points. They also beat McCallie! Alcoa to me is by far the best 2a team in the state.

Hoover....there is a reason they have a national ranking...I don't think Maryville will even win state this year after that first playoff game

I would have to agree on that butt whoopin if they don't fix this problem. I made a post early on during the season about this very thing. When we play a quality team who can stop the run we are done. We have no passing game! We squeaked by Fairview without it but Goodpasture will be a different story. Running the ball is fine when it works but when you aren't having much success on the ground you got to air it out a little. I noticed the radio anouncer during the Camden game mentioned this too. We couldn't run on them and with over 2 minutes left in the game and Lewis Countys ball he said it was over because we weren't going to pass the ball. At least I am not the only one who gets frustrated by this!

8-7 with Lewis County winning...whats with the panther offense? Something has gotta change before we go to Goodpasture next week!

I believe the LC Panthers will win but I can't say I believe it will be a blowout. Fairview only lost two games. I realize they were blown out in these games but then again it was Goodpasture and CPA....private schools! I would love to see a huge blowout...that would make me feel a lot better about playing Goodpasture the 2nd round...And before anybody makes a post about Goodpasture having to get past Adamsville first....I am just being realistic!

Yeah..most LC and Camden Fans think it will be a close game but geez...these waverly fans must really hate LC. They make it sound like Camden is playing Loretto by giving predictions of 50-6. I don't see that happening!

Good Post...I never even look at any other poll besides the AP. Not that they are not as credible or anything I just don't like polls that use mathmatic formulas such as the college BCS. If you look at those polls such as Sonny Moore then Goodpasture and Alcoa can beat like 99% of all teams regardless of Class. They are unbelievable teams but I don't know about that. I think this game is gonna be one of the best you'll see in the state this year.

I didn't say Camden has no tradition or clout in 2a. I have nothing but respect for Camden. I have not once said you guys aren't as good as us. I just think we are the more well known team thus the higher ranking. Its just an opinion and everyone is entitled to one. I am not stating anything as a fact...just an opinion. I have no way to actually prove that we are more well known. I realize rankings don't mean a thing or why even play the game if we already know who the better team is. I think LC is mentioned in the the Alcoa and Goodpasture threads because thats who they think will advance far enough to play them. As bad as I hate to say it....I do believe LC and any other team in 2a has no chance of beating these two teams. I have watched both play this year and these teams are two of the best reguardless of Classification. I would love for someone to beat them though!

I think you misunderstood Don or maybe I should have worded it better. An earlier post mentioned that we are only ranked ahead of Camden because we have one more region win than them. It was said that if they beat Riverside then they will jump ahead of us in the rankings the week before LC plays them. I was disagreeing with that. I do know that if we lose to Camden that they will jump us in the polls.

The reason we are ranked ahead of you is because we are last years region champs. We have a long tradition of being a winner and people have actually heard of us. Go to the Alcoa and and Goodpasture threads and LC gets mentioned many times. Can you say that about Camden? You guys will still be ranked behind us even after this week. Just wait and see! It doesn't mean we are 100% the better team ...just that our reputation preceeds us!

This is not going to be a blowout game by either team. The only way this could happen is if one team lays an egg. These teams are evenly matched. One with a touch better offense, the other a touch better defense. I personally feel that Lewis County is still the team to beat in the region and I guess most in the state agree or they wouldn't have the #3 ranking. For me its because they are last years region champion and have a 9-0 record. If Camden wins this game..the papers will read "Camden upsets Lewis County." Its just the way it is in all sports! Last years champion is always the team to beat. I think this will be a great game with either team capable of taking the win. Also...Waverly....I took a look at your schedule this year and you guys are crazy if you think you could have beat LC. You guys only had one blowout win with the rest pretty close. I did not watch the LC/Waverly game but obviously after the big lead we started playing down to the level of competition as we are notorious for doing. You guys on your best day could not stand toe to toe with us this year on our best day. Period!!!

I would agree with that....but is it wrong to want more. Winning the region almost every year is great. I love going to work and talking about my Panthers. The problem is....I work with people who played for Trousdale County, Riverdale, Oakland, Portland, etc. They all have state championships and I get a little frustrated because I feel we have been good enough to have at least one. Winning the region just doesn't satisfy me anymore. I am not quite old enough to remember any teams older than 20 years ago but I do remember the 95 team. Got beat in the playoffs that year by I believe Goodpasture. I think we lost by 3. Goodpasture went on to blow out Lipscomb and then beat Meigs Co pretty bad. Get rid of the private schools and that was our year. I also remember we had a great passing game that year. Our pass was just as good as the rush that year. I guess I was wrong... take away the private schools and Sharp could have won state in '95. They really need to move them all to their own division. Look at the top ranked teams in 2a. (Goodpasture, Tyner Academy, CPA) When Trousdale Co moved up in class they skipped 2a because of this very reason. Hard to compete with private schools who recruit and give scholarships!

My education must be a little off..so 8 out of 10 baby boys born in Alcoa are destined to be great football players where LC is more like 5 out of 10. Must be the Oak Ridge radioactivity! There is no right or wrong in this discussion...just opinions. I really don't mean to sound like a Sharp basher. A lot of teams in the state would be lucky to have him...I personally think we could be better with a more balanced offense. Also..I work with about 10 former Trousdale County players... they have won their 6 state championships by using a balanced offense! Coach Satterfield is considered one of the best coaches in the state. They beat the 3a state champion Livingston Academy last year. I guarentee you Livingston had more talent on their team. They were outcoached. I stand by my statement that we could have had a state championship.

We have had more than 5 go to UT Martin in the last few years to play. We've had others in the past who had interest from big schools but they didn't have the grades just as Grinch mentioned. Most people who play college football are walk-ons and not on scholarship. How many of our players actually try and do this...very very few. You make it sound like we just have a bunch of no good players who only win because of our coach. Sharp is a good coach but will never win state until the offense becomes more balanced. The region is weak so we never get tested until playoff time so then we will see how good we are. Take a look at how Alcoa won their state championship last year. It sure wasn't running 39 times and passing 3 times. When the run gets stopped...we lose...simple as that. Check our playoff history and you will find this to be true. Our great running game makes opposing coaches put 8-9 men up in the box to try and stop the run. Passing lanes should be open for a easy hookup..I am pretty sure we can find somebody to throw the ball to them! Also...a good passing game makes defenses play honest...who knows...we could get more rushing yards on less carries. What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

You have to talk about every game....there will be somebody come on here and talk about how Houston Co. is gonna kicks LC's Tail. Its all in school spirit for they know this is just not gonna happen. I hate to say it but our region is extremly weak..with the exception of us and Camden. We will be tested only once this season and that will be by Camden. If a team up until that game plays us close its only because we laid an egg and not that they are that good. Look at the records of the teams in our region and make your own opinion. The last 3 weeks we have been blowing out our opponents. For the season we have outscored our opponets 157-21...thats right...we have given up only 21 points total in 5 games. This is probably the best team LC has had since '96. I only wish we had more of a passing game. Running the ball 96% of the time might get us through the region undefeated and to the playoffs but....find some of those teams like Milan and Huntingdon who can stop the run and were done. Happens just about every year. I truly believe LC could have had a couple of state championships if we had been more balanced on offense. We have some great athletes there! Coaches...WE NEED TO THROW THE BALL A LITTLE MORE OFTEN DURING THE SEASON TO PREPARE FOR WHEN WE MEET A TEAM WHO CAN STOP THE RUN!!!
