Well, let's talk about Jody Wright.. He's been at Fulton for over 20 something years and he's just now getting his first gold ball last year.. Does that make him a good coach since its taken him a very long time to win won? Like you said feartheever, someday AE will be celebrating with the GOLD BALL.... However, I'll be the first to admit, it won't be next year.. AE will be down next year. We'll get to see how good of a coach mitchell really is.. I'm trying to tell yall people Mitchell can coach but we'll find out next year if my statements are true about Mitchell.

UH Coach Charles Mitchell of AE... He's been to the Title game plenty of times and just can't win it.. So that's one coach that can say that.. Better yet, I don't think he's had a losing season since he's been at AE.. I'll have to check on that..

He hasn't won the Title game, thus by some peoples standards isn't a good coach....do you see how incredibly stupid that statement seems. Obviously, both Mitchell and Blevins are good coaches. Their records indicate that. One day Turtle, I hope to be celebrating with you in the Boro after both AE and Bearden bring home the gold balls in AA and AAA.

I can pretty much tell you what the whole problem is with Bearden.

 

1. They have an idiot for a coach.. I am not one that talks about coaches much but that guy is clueless. He was a joke. Lets be honest. Does 5 out 5 in really work? No!! I have neevr seen anyone successful doing it.

2. They can not shoot. They do not have a shooter on that team. You are not going to win a big time game or tournament for that matter unless you have a some guys who can knock it down and extend the defense.

3. East Tennessee basketball is the most overrated topic in Tennessee. They can not play with Middle Tennessee which is loaded with players and of course Memphis. I know Fulton won the state but the Knoxville area is not on the scale with the other parts of the state. They do not see the studs that everyone else sees night in night out like memphis teams such as White Station, Raleigh Egypt Northeast, huntersLane, Clarksville, Oakland.. bottom line.

 

They have good players dont get me wrong or they would not be in the state, just not enough to win the titles!!!

Blevins is not a bad coach. since coming to Bearden in 1994, he has only had one losing season and has only had one season in which he has won less than 20 games. Because he hasn't won a State Championship doesn't mean he isn't a good coach. Name me one other coach in the state that can say that.....BET!!!!

Feartheveer: My questions is, why in the world did they run around the court 2 times? I mean, come on now. And I disagree with you on the 5 in and 5 out thing. Honestly, he didn't do it much against Oak HIll or AE. But Blevins learnt his lessons.. Always stick with the 5 that's doing it then switch one or two of them out at a time not the whole 5...

I don't have a problem with Blevins 5 in and 5 out style. Obviously it worked 33 times this year. Regardless of the substitution style, when you go 15-31 at the charity stripe, and you are playing a good team, you aren't going to win many close games....ask your boys over at AE why FT shooting is important. Also, making Blevins or any head coach sit the entire game and not being allowed to coach his team that he has been coaching all season long plays a huge role in the flow of the game. Rules are rules and with the bench being assested a "T" at the beginning of the game, I can't argue the point, but I still think it is a garbage rule.

From what I am told by spectators that attended the game (not just Bearden fans), neither team really got into the flow of the game. A total of 50 fouls were called and the total amount of FT's shot between the 2 teams were 68. From those stats, it appears that the refs were calling a very tight game from baseline to baseline.

Those aren't excuses, those are facts. Turtle, why would I not have confidence in my Bulldogs...they won 33 games this past year(one in which they beat your AE cackrunners by 42). Win or lose, I will cheer them on every single day of my life.

They won their 1st game last Friday since 2003, so of course they wouldn't come close to beating Bearden but I'm pretty sure they won't be scared to play you all. I mean, they could possible upset the Bulldogs if they really really have a completed game. So tell your coach to schedule them.. WE AIN"T NEVER SCARED!!

Congrats to Clarksville NE for beating Bearden. I have no excuses to make for the team I love. I wasn't at the game and no nothing of what happened for Bearden to loose the game by 8. I did notice that they missed alot of FT's (that's not an excuse Turtle, I'm just stating the facts). All in all, this weekend was horrible for me for my teams....Not only did the Bulldogs lose in the 1st round of the State Tournament, both my Vols and Lady Vols bowed out in the Big Dance (1st time Pat's ladies have ever lost in the 1st round), USA got beat by Japan in the WBC, the Vols Baseball and Softball teams got swept, the CN baseball and softball teams got swept, and the blackjack tables at the MGM took my commission check from the month of FEB....at least I got to see some lovely ladies.

Brandon Lopez has been accepted to Christ School in North Carolina. I feel as though this is a major blow to the Roadrunner program. However, I feel as though it will benefit Lopez. He's a heck of a player and I know for sure he'll be playing D1 and in the NBA within the next 7 years. I feel as though any player who has a chance to go to a Prep School should go. Brandon will not only be playing for a National rank prep school but he'll gain the experience of playing in a college type atmosphere night in and night out. Some advice for you players; Get your head in your books and you to could be just like Brandon and getting recognize from teams all over. Its not all about playing sports its about academics too. Brandon had the grades to get this chance to be accepting to a program like this. I gotta make sure I get his autograph before he leaves, I know its going to be worth some money in the long run /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

 

 

Now its time to hear what all the haters are going to say. I've already heard this one "Mitchell is really going to show how he can't coach now he loses his best player for next year!" Well, with that said, it takes a team to win a championship. Yes, Brandon played a major role in the Roadrunner program however, he didn't score all the points in every game. Therefore, I say AE and Coach Mitchell will be ok.. Others will just have to step up to make up for this major lost.

Bearden hasn't played any tough competition besides Oak Hill and and Briarcrest (average team in memphis). If they would have played more West Tn teams, you wouldn't be making the statement about losing to any teams from Tn. If you look at Liberty and Hamilton when they ran the table and won the Gold Ball, they played plenty of tough competition. I'm not saying Bearden isn't good, on the otherhand, I think their not battle tested with their weak schedule. The state tournament will ultimately decide their fate. We will see how they match up with those Memphis teams...

It's public high school bball....it would not be feasible to play teams in Memphis. Unless, they could work out a deal to play in Nashville every year, those regular season matchups aren't gonna happen. You can't blame teams from East TN for not playing a strong schedule.They can't make other teams better. I've watched Bearden play all year, they will be ready for Memphis teams...I just hope that dem' boys from Memphis are ready for the DAWGS!!!!

As you well know, the box scores are always there. I was referring to the STATS (Scoring, Rebounds, Assists, Shooting %, etc) that go into the PrepXtra section of the Friday paper. You know, the same stats you were saying some teams didn't provide to the media for the tourney.

All teams are asked by TSSAA to bring yearly stats to the state tournament for the media. Out of the 8 teams in the Class AAA bracket, all but 2 teams brought stats....can you guess which ones didn't bring them?

I don't get your agenda. I could cut and paste 30 posts you've made about Bearden this year where you point out their flaws and negative attributes. What about their positives? The way they shut down teams defensively, attack the rim, or competed as underdog against Oak Hill. I have also seen many times where LC has not always conducted themselves to perfection. Why so hard on Bearden's kids? Are you really that jealous of their accomplishments? What's sad is that this is the best East TN has produced in many years and you have nothing but bushleague comments. If you really believe what you are saying is it not better to just keep your pent up aggressions/jealousies to yourself. I'm not the biggest fan of Bearden's antics either, but give the boys a little respect. Are you talking about Craig, Simpson, Rico, Greene, Galen, etc. I don't think you are. Parker is not the poster child for this team, so what about the team as a whole? Don't try to justify what your talking about because everyone on here has seen it too. So what! It's Bearden and it comes with the territory. For them to win the state they better have some swagger about them. It's a fine line they tread.
