  1. Yes cause they go straight up about 4 feet in the corner! Hopefully we will not need the Fade ball.
  2. Thanks, already been doing it with similar numbers the last 2 years.
  3. That Cordova game was closer than people think. They scored their last touchdown because of a bad Pass Interference call on 4th down. Otherwise, it potentially could have ended up going into overtime if we get possession of the ball. This will be a slugfest like last year. Both coaches and teams know each other well. Looking forward to the game. It was very exciting last year. We felt like Ridgeway was the best team we played last year. This is why we were so disappointed in our performance vs. Pearl Cohn. Anyway, win or lose, I believe we will see each other 3rd round of the playoffs. JMO. Going to enjoy this one and head over to Cordova Friday night. Great week for high school football in Memphis!!
  4. Let me clarify a few things. Like I said in an earlier post, Memphis East is moving up to 4A in football. The reason numbers are not added per cooperative agreement is because those agreements are only good for 1 year. A school can decide they do not want to continue that co-op or simply co-op with another program. Memphis East does co-op with Soulsville this year, but that was at Soulsville's request because of 1 student that they had really wanted (at least, so he said) to play football his senior year. Well long story short, Memphis East does not have 1 player on its roster that does not attend Memphis East High School. For the past 10 years or so, Memphis East has always played up at least 1 classification. We just like to play competitive football. Our basketball team will play in AAA. So there is no need to go through all your scenarios. We were moving up with or without a cooperative agreement.
  5. Memphis East is moving up to 4A in football.
  6. Is that all you are expecting...wishful thinking! We will be in the house. You guys sure do talk a lot of noise and just plain disrespectful. Where does it come from? I could understand if you were Maryville or somebody. I hope your guys back up your words. You got stopped by a Memphis team last year. These guys used to playing against some of the best schools and talent in the state ie. Whitehaven, White Station, etc. We were 5A the last six years with an enrollment smaller than yours. We like competition. We are a 3A size school playing 4A this year. So, we are ready for whatever you got! This is my last post until Sat. Win or lose you will respect us when it is over. We not coming to lose though!
  7. Yes, it is a joke. Cassius is in Baltimore with the Ravens working, so I don't know what dude is talking about. There were former players there watching (Herbert Moore, Ole Miss; Brandon Ivory, Alabama), but that was it.
  8. We overrated not that good 5% chance Not what you are saying in the Memphis East vs. Pearl-Cohn board. Memphis East has not played anybody and does not have much of a chance. We are the ones overrated!
  9. Well, last year, when we played them all, they were pretty darn good. You are the one that compared us to a 3A CPA, but we are in the semifinals of the 4A State title run...hmmm. Talk is cheap. 901 vs 615. We will be there, early! Please take it easy on us. We have not faced anyone quite like PC. I hope we keep it close (give me a break)!
  10. You sure do talk a lot! Have you seen us play in person? How can you say that these other teams are better than us? These kids have played against the top 6A teams in Memphis and have beat all of them at least once. So they are used to very good competition. It is not our fault that they broke up our district (Whitehaven, White Station, Memphis Central, Melrose, Memphis East). We played who we could. Our schedule did not mesh with the other schools in the area to make it tougher. It is what it is. It is disrepectful for you to say that we are not as good as those teams. What is your basis? Muscle Shoals? We had 2 special teams turnovers for TD's. This was our fault. Nothing they did (Punter fumbled snap in endzone; PR for TD with 3 clips that were not called, but still poor coverage). You take that away, it is a 17-14 game. We played a different defense in that game that prompted the HC to change back to what we do. We would love to play them again because we felt like we gave them that game, but we learned a lot from it that made us better. We started 6-0 last year (only 4 Seniors on that team), but injuries and lack of depth caused us to faulter in the end. This year, we have had injuries, but we have the depth to make up for it, so we don't miss a beat. We play good football in Memphis, and we cannot wait to show you.
  11. Your assessment is correct. We were not as physical as we would have liked to be and the QB (Eric) did miss some plays through the air that he should have made...but that's is why it is a scrimmage. You find your weak points before the season and correct them. I believe we are much improved from that day. The Muscle Shoals game showed the coaches what needed to be adjusted on defense. Kids were making too many mistakes. That's why coach loves to schedule a tough first game if possible. We are a very balanced team. Our defense is solid and will strike you. We have more play makers than people realize. As long as we take care of the football, we will be a tough out for anybody. These kids are used to facing bigger people. They had to play (16-AAA) Whitehaven, White Station, Melrose, Memphis Central, etc on a regular basis in the past. I doubt the crowd will play a factor. The players and coaches love the competition and look forward to the game Friday. Good luck on your game Friday! #RepresentMemphis
  12. Banks has a few small schools looking at him. This is why the coaches pushed him to play defense, so that he could get more looks at 6'5". For the life of me I can't understand why McGhee and Turner do not have a major D1 offer. Banks and McGhee do play basketball, but football is their primary sport. Yes, we did fall apart last year. Mainly due to injury, but we started turning the ball over at an alarming rate. This is what killed us vs. Henry County in 2013. We were clearly the better team statistically but fell short by 3. They went on to win the State. These seniors were playing as Sophomores then. So they focused on depth, turnovers, and defense this season, and has paid off. We are not the biggest team but we have really good talent at the skill positions. We have veterans on the line. Our defense is good and solid. We will not take any team lightly. Everyone in the playoffs is a potential State Champion. Down to the final 16, trying to make to 8 this week. Should be a great matchup!
  13. Don't underestimate the Mustangs based off the schedule. It is not our fault that Millington and Craigmont turned out to be bad teams this year. We moved up from 3A for better competition (>550 enrollment). Last I checked, Trezevant is still a good team. A lot of 6A schools chose to play other programs. East has been in a district with Whitehaven, White Station, Melrose, Central, etc for the past 6 years. This group of Seniors have beat them all at least once in the last two. As sophomores (8-2 team), they were 3 points away from beating Henry County in the 2nd round of playoffs. This is with 4 turnovers offensively. HC couldn't cross the 50 after the 1st quarter and they (HC) won 5A State Championship that year. Last year, we started 6-0 before the injury bug hit. This year, we have depth and experience of playing top tier teams in the state. So look at the schedule all you want, but this is the best team we have had in the past 5 years. Also, this group is 2-2 vs Ridgeway, so I don't understand why everyone is so surprised. Coach feels they did not play well offensively versus Ridgeway. It was more us than them. So, long story short, we will see on Friday.
  14. East vs Ridgeway has been changed to Kirby Stadium.
  15. This game has been changed to Kirby Stadium on Friday
  16. Hats off...you all took it to us. Not enough horses in the stable. Congrats!
  17. i believe the key to the game is whose offense will execute the best. Both defenses are stout. Don't let the Melrose game fool you, we dabbled with a 3-4 defense in that game and it proved to be a huge mistake (gave up 21 out of the 28 points in that D). So I'm sure from here on out it is back to basics. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). If our QB throws the ball well, I'm confident we will obtain out average of 30 plus points a game. We must contain Jordan and challenge your WRs. Whoever wins the turnover battle and minimizes drive killing penalties will come out on top. Last year both teams were without their QB so it is only fitting that it comes down to which one manages his team best.
  18. He is not an East fan...He is a Whitehaven hater. We don't engage in all that trash talking. Your play speaks for itself. Winning takes care of everything.
  19. Right! He is from Mitchell. He must really hate you guys.
  20. Yes we will let the kids and coaches decide it...it will be fun to watch. Can't wait
  21. You sound very confident like it will be an easy day...good luck with that! you gonna have to bring it for this win
  22. Really, Numbers won't be a factor. Our guys are very well conditioned for this fight. Fatigue will never be our excuse, but we don't use excuses.
