  1. Hey, this is ctwig and you better stop before I start writing a tell all book about you on the pages of Coach T. You know what I mean! Undertaker!

Nah ... Two can play at that game. You are not C ryhmes with twig. I know who you are my friend but it shall remain closely guarded. Now what about the new comer Valdeference? Pretty crafty but I must admit he is starting to scare me a bit with the latest posts. Maybe we can get him and Grappler in a battle. Where is old Grappler anyway? I see they took the thread about future champions off the board. Good idea.. I kept waiting on a phone call from bcb declaring a road trip to k-town.

CC, be safe my friend. Ill keep them straight while you are away.

  2.

Y-16 started eating and drinking Mellow Yellow at the age of 11. someone should've told his mom to stop buying him that and get him some fruit and water.

what did I do to deserve such treatment ? I havent picked on anyone except cc and that was a joke. Stop picking on the fat kid or I will take my ball and go home. Besides everyone knows that picture is either a local daddy with the initials BH. He has three sons wrestling at three different schools. Or it could be his buffett busting buddy with several wrestlers of his own. His name starts with a c and rhymes with twig.

  3. I am glad Maj started this topic. I have been meaning to do so myself. I just wanted to take a minute to thank Kevin for the passion and tireless effort he has put into youth wrestling in Chattanooga. Anyone who has ever had the joy of wrestling for Kevins Mighty Warriors knows that he gave his heart and soul to his wrestlers. Not only did he go the extra mile for his kids but he also had an open door policy for any kids simply wanting to get better. He has a true knack for making the kids have fun even when he is pushing them to the limits. Not only drilling the fundamentals and basics but also adding some funk and specialty type moves to keep things interesting and not so monotonous.Blake still uses the bear trap series, ventriliqist, Kelley and other moves that most youth coaches dont teach.Thank you Kevin for always making my own feel welcome in your room even when we were on opposing teams. As Maj already stated if all of kevins wrestlers were on one team it would be lights out for the opponents. I am going to list some kids who have came through Kevins doors at some point and benefited from his open door policy. You will be hearing a lot of these kids in the upcoming years. I dont think their parents would mind as Im sure they feel as grateful as I do. Blaike Henry, Jonathon Taylor, Brock Pressley, Micah Pressley, James Westbrooks, Tim Westbrooks, Tee & Jack Boone, Campbell Lewis, Zach Watson, Jamal Lackey, Addison Cornell, Madison Martin, P.j Harris, and many more. I can assure you there will be many state championships won from this group of kids and you played and important role in that Kevin. Thank you

  4. Has anyone seen youthcoach16's kancles? i swear they are almost as big as his head, and someone needs to tell him to stop drinking all that mellow yello. Youth coach 16 needs to stop eating /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> before he gets to big to coach practice..

I am going on a strict diet and exercise program. Besides I will be retiring from the coaching ranks and concentrating on getting in shape. I hope to dabble in a little Mma just strictly for fun and exercise. See.. I have this friend who continually runs his mouth and is in dire need of an attitude adjustment. Now when I dispose of him it will be in a stricly theraputic manner. I am only looking out for his best interests. He is in dire need of an attitude adjustment and also I am afraid he and Grappler may cross paths in the future and I want my friend to be pre-pared to back up his mouth.

  5. Vas-

I am trying to figure you out but there is no doubt that you are taking creativity up a notch on CoachT. And this is the off season.

If you figure it out let me know. cc and I are dying to know. Did you see cc/Tattoo's green beret hat? That was pretty good.

  6. BIG RED SAVES ON GAS WITH NEW VALET PARKING

I'm just fun'in around-hope no one gets offended

That is so funny!!! I have been accused of being vas but I promise I am not. I was coaching baseball today from 9-4. CC thinks its me because my character looks tough and his character is Tatoo from fantasy Island. I told him thats pretty realistic. Vas, please send me an email at msutherland16@aol I am dying to know your true identity. I cant wait to see graps reply when he see's it.

  7. big Red Fall brawl

That was great! Im not sure who you are but that was pretty clever. We can use a crafty person like youself on here. In a perfect world thats exactly how it would end. Althou Bcb would somehow talk us into letting him win and cc would use some of his top secret military maneuvers to try and secure the victory. One thing is for sure though. The A team wins and Grappler ends up down for the count.

  8. Coach, Do you need some cheese. You have really changed. Cry Baby! I'm glad you weren't going thru a life change when you were coaching my son's. Sad, or pityful as stated by kidstaxi.

Well, it all happened years ago. See, I was demonstrating the proppper way to headthrow just so we could make all the other Chattanooga Pee wee coaches mad. I didnt have anybody to demonstrate on so I called a dad out of the stands. The dad didnt want to be the dummy so he suggested he do the headthrowing instead. I agreed since the daddy was pushing 350 lbs and I didnt want to look foolish in front of my pupils in case my headthrow didnt work. To make a long story short this particular daddy must have been taught the old north georgia rip their head off version because the next thing I know there were 350 lbs of lard and hair landing squarley in the middle of my chest. That started the downfall of the aggressive young man you knew so well. Its hard to be on edge all the time when your chest still hurts everytime you take a deep breath.

  9. I have been called out too long to not respond. While I have been observing the festivities with much enjoyment I have elected to not participate in order to avoid personal attacks and arguments. Does this go against my nature? Probably so, but cant we all aspire to be better people? While in the past I have been quick to straighten people out when they are attacking the hardwork that is put forth by not only wrestlers but also the people behind the scenes I have always tried to draw the line at attacking someone personally and never would I say anything derogatory about a child.

I am only responding to this to squash some rumors that I am posting under various screen names. I am not Grappler, taxi, hardcore or any of the others.

Grappler & hardcore I have actually been laughing at your posts even when they are about me. I hope that you are joking and I havent done something to really offend you that badly. I can assure you I wont be sitting in a little red chair. Everyone knows I wont be able to actually sit in the bleachers when a match is in progress. As far as my weight issues go and spitting in a Mountain dew bottle that was pretty funny at first. I am going to ask that I be left out of future jokes. Like my somewhat squatty friend said, "Big Mike doesnt always play nice". Unlike some of my friends on here such as cupcake, glc and bcbii Is might actually take you up on of your offers to meet for a little pugilism. I am also pretty sure I know who most of you are. I think some of the peoples real names start with the following letters. J,m,p. If you feel the need to correspond with me you all know how to reach me. Until then please keep picking on Cupcake he has a much better temperament than myself.

  10. Is this the same Ricky Johnson that was Tennessee State Champion in 1991, with twin younger brothers who were multiple State Champions?

Yes and no. Ricky was a two time state champion winning as a 10th grader in 1989 and a 12 grader in 1991 I believe he placed 4th the other two years. His brothers Kevin and Mark were not twins. Kevin was a three time state champion and actually beat the state champion his freshmen year pretty easily. Mark was a two time runner -up. This was all done pre private -public split. Very tough family of wrestlers. Ricky has been helping with Central the last few years in his free time and both he and Kevin help coach the Cougar Youth wrestling club.

    awesome job guys!

  12. What is involved? Where and when do they practice and wrestle? Is it possible to juggle Team TN and baseball? I have a 5th grader that wrestles 85#. He usually weighed in at about 82# this year.

I appreciate everyones help. We have filled the 90 lbs and 85 lbs. we only need a 116 qand 125 lber.

  13. We are in need of a few more wrestlers to round out the team. We have lost a couple due to injuries and baseball. If you have anyone in the following weight classes in the 5th grade and below who would be interested please contact me asap.

    75

    85

    90

    116

  14. You go Kilroy! I totally agree with you. And how is it fair that the Chattanooga kids get to weigh in at their own facility for the Nationals when the rest of us travel and paid for hotel? I believe this happened at the State as well...

Every region in Tennessee had weigh ins for the state. It wasnt just Chattanooga. As far as the weigh ins for the nationals go it was a last minute decision so that we could have more kids participate in the tournament. All of the baseball parks in Chattanooga had tournaments this weekend and by doing the satellite weigh ins it allowed about 30-40 extra kids participate. The weigh ins were done by the head ref for the Aau along with another ref that will be calling the tournament. The flip side to this is that all Chattanooga wrestlers have to be in knoxville at 700 to receieve their registration packets. So while you guys are sleeping cozy in your bed we will be up at 430 getting ready to hit the road. Dang, we should have gotten a hotel room. The bottom line is this. More kids are participating, the tournament will be bigger and stronger because of it.

  15. THE MJ KID TURBO PINNED IN THE FINALS HAD ONLY LOST ONE MATCH OF HIS 50 ALL SEASON IN OVERTIME UNTIL TURBOS MATCH. DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS KID FROM CHAT-TOWN.

Yes, Turbo is the real deal. You will be hearing a lot of him in the upcoming years. I just watched him move up in weight and wrestle the 3rd place high school TSSAA finisher a few weeks ago and it was a barn burner that could have gone either way. Not bad for a 7th grader. He will be the next great wrestler to come through the Turner wrestling machine. He will join the likes of Kevin Ward, Kyle James, Jake Yost, Eric Collins, John Lane not to mention many others from schools other than Soddy daisy that Rabitt & Shane Turner has worked with over the years.

  16. Cody Stacks (hope I spelled the last name correctly, Chattanooga but don't know specific club) defeated Brandon Hataway (Wave Club, Memphis) in a close match ( I think it was 2 points but not sure right now) in the finals. Hataway defeated Martin (?) of Mighty Warriors 14-0 or 14-1 in the semi's. I am pretty sure Stacks defeatelld the Tullahoma wrestler Smith (?) in the semi's on his side. That is what I remember right now.

Cody wrestles wrestles for the Cougar wrestling club out of Harrison Tn. He won 4-0 or 5-0 in the finals I think. Im sure all the results will be posted soon after the Aau spring nationals are over with.

  17. I am looking for the below:

    Junior 95 lbs

    Middle School 119 lbs

Sorry, I dont know of any high school results.

Here are what I remeber off of the top of my head.

    Junior 60

    2nd-Hammonds-Sharpshooters

    3rd-Hunter Adams-Chattanooga School of Wrestling

    Junior 75

    1st-Gage Richmond-Soddy Daisy

    2nd-Jack Reynolds-Chattanooga School of wrestling

    Junior95

    1st- Ryan Parker- Knoxville

  18. All,

With this being a holiday weekend and baseball (ugh!) taking over who is planning on attending?

    PD

The Chattanooga area is sending quite a few but the #'s are definatley down due to spring break, easter and baseball.

  19. And, congrats to Tim Westbrooks who is also a local wrestler here in Chattanooga, for making the finals. He defeated a guy in the semis who had beaten him 3 (twice by fall) times during this past middle school season.

Yes, all three of these wrestlers Stacks, White and Westbrooks wrestled their hearts out in probably the two weight classes with the most over all talent. They all beat wrestlers who had beaten them before.

  20. Who are the favorites to win the Junior state titles at 70 and 75 pounds? I know the McGlasson kid from Clarksville is a first year Junior but is pretty tough. I have not seen many of the other kids, but assume the #1 from each region are the favorites?

the south region has several very good wrestlers. At 70 lbs our region champ is wrestling in the Dixie duals on the middle school team and will miss the state. Our runner up from Cleveland will have a very good chance of winning I would think. At 75 lbs we have two very good wrestlers in Jack Reynolds and Gage Richmond. I think these two have a very good chance of ending up #1 &2

  21. How is the Team TN Elementary Duals team selected? Is there a qualifier, challenge series, or is it coach select? We have wrestled in other states and typically the State champions/placers are usually the first offered a spot, or clubs/regions will establish their own "all-star" teams from their respective areas. There are also usually one or more alternates per weight and wrestlers can challenge for spots on the team. It is quite common to have more than one team that represents the state at larger tournaments (e.g., KS-Red/Gold). Thanks for any information that can be provided.

If you are refering to the Team Tennessee for the Aau elementary duals then I can help shed some light. There will be two teams from Tennessee. Coach Kennedy will be heading one up like he has in the past and I will be heading one mostly comprised of kids from Chattanooga and Knoxville. Nothing is set in stone as of right now until after the completion of the state tournaments. We cant pick just the champions for several reasons. First of all the tournament is k-5th grade. k-5th gradres never wrestle in a tournament where they are all in one bracket. My team is being picked by several Chattanooga and Knoxville coaches. We pretty much know all the kids in the eastern part of the state. The problem with having tryouts is becasue you get 10 kids wanting to wrestle one weight and you have the nightmare of trying to schedule this logistically. There is no reason or is it fair to have wrestler A who has beaten wrestler b three times this year to have a challenge match. Also there is really no need for tryouts because most of the top kids have wrestled each other multiple times this year or had common opponents we can compare matches and scores with. Basically what I am going to do is post our team once its picked. It will be mostly 5th graders except for the lightest weights. If there is a kid who has not wrestled the wrestler I have picked and they dont have at least two common opponents then I wont be opposed to having a best of three challenge match. They would also have to not have wrestled in any of the same tournaments. Example: wrestler A wins two tournaments that wrestler B has entered but they never meet up becasue wrestler B gets beat before making the finals. we would not need a challenge match in this case. I want to reward a seasons worth of excellence and not let it ride on one challenge match. There are other issues like we have to order uniforms, get registered, get commitmentments from the wrestlers and parents. This is all time consuming so we cant drag this process out for very long. I think for the most part the kids I have picked will be a no brainer. Here is another example. If wrestler A has beaten wrestler B the last 5 times they have wrestled but wrestler B headthrows wrestler A in the state finals and pins him I would pick wrestler A due the # of victories over wrestler B.

  22. I think that was a spur of the moment decision. We were trying to get the information out before people left to go to the weigh ins tonight. I will advise Mr.Lauderdale of this and its also spring break for most schools. The next weekend after that would be the nationals in Pigeon Forge and then the Aau duals so we are running out of weekends. Also if you push it out much further you lose a lot of kids to baseball. No matter when it is held it wont work for everyone unfortunatley. We will have to do what is best for the majority. I will post when I have more details. Thx for your input.
