  1. EDIT: biznazz, I caught you're reply after I already responded. Don't worry about it. However, I was merely trying to clarify and dispell some of the rumors flying around before they got out of hand. However, injuries aren't exactly locker room matters. Which is why College and NFL teams release injury reports (alot of high school teams do as well). Now there are certain locker room matters I would never post on here. There have been situations in the past in which I have held my tounge, but injuries aren't one of them.
  2. This is what I was told: Chaz was indeed hurt in practice. The severity and extent of the injury is unknown at this point. Reports of missing the season OR THIS GAME are premature at this point.
  3. The way the Centennial season has worked out, alot of CHS fans were looking back to that Week 0 game wondering "what if?" Well, the Cougars will get their chance to see exactly how far they've come this week. Yes, Centennial is a much better team than when these teams first played. However, the same can be said for Brentwood. Should be an interesting game
  4. Man, I can't think of better news to return home to than this. Great job by the Centennial Cougars last Friday. For a defense that many considered shaky all season long, a performance like this is a huge statement. Also, good to see Chaz rebound from the Franklin game and have a big performance. Great win, but now its time to move onto Brentwood.
  5. What does that even remotely have to do with ANYTHING we've been talking about?
  6. So I haven't talked alot on here this week (Its been one of the most hectic weeks of my life). And this will likely be my last post until after the game: To the entire Centennial Football Program: This has by far been the most memorable season in school history. Regardless of what happens tomorrow night, let me say again that you guys have made me proud to be an alumni of Centennial High School. To Coach Mat and the rest of the Coaching staff: thank you restoring spirit and excitement back into this school. Anytime I go back for a game and see the atmosphere, I always think about my senior year and where this program was. You guys took what many believed was a dying program and made them into a legitimate power in a matter of two years. To the Players: None of this would be possible without you guys. You can have all the spirit, all the support, and all the coaching in the world, but its nothing if you don't have the heart and soul to compete. Alot of you guys have been part of the past staff, part of the 1-9 season and the drama that followed , watched teammates come and go. To overcome all that and have this kind of performance shows toughness. And look where you are now. You guys made this season happen. It was your hard work and dedication that got you here. Remember, the season's far from over, there's still that little matter of the state championship. Just like the regular season, its one game at a time. Stay smart, stay focused, stay disciplined. There is alot of speed across the board for both teams. From what I've seen and heard, CHS has a slight speed advantage, while Gallatin has a slight size advantage up front. The key to this game is to spread out some of that size and put more emphasis on speed. This should be a great game. First playoff game in 5 years and the community is pumped. Unfortunately I wont be there, but I have people keeping me updated. Good luck and lets show the state of Tennessee what Centennial is capable of.
  7. Yeah I wasn't trying to start a contest or anything. But growing up here I've heard these same arguments over and over again and yet its still funny to see the UT faithful get so fired up about this, and then proceed to justify their season with Michigan bashing. I guess we can't blame people for what they don't know. The bottom line is Big Blue walked out of that season with the Heisman and a national championship, while UT walked out with nothing but bitter feelings.
  8. Yeah Thomas started getting a bigger role in the offense towards the end of the year, including that first TD against Ohio State. Chris Floyd also got some carries out of the FB spot. Another name that wasn't mentioned was Jay Feely, now kicking for the Jets.
  9. I believe he was referring to those on the 97 Championship team. Dhani Jones was on that team as well though
  10. Even A-Train (Anthony Thomas) had a few great years in the NFL with Chicago and Buffalo before injuries curtailed his career. Really? There's no hatred the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry? .......I guess I can't blame you for being ignorant
  11. No one's "defelcting" the truth. Look at the stats, Watch gamefilm. I'm sorry you're still bitter about something that happened 11 years ago.
  12. Chaz Scales is 63-105 passing with 1113 yards, 14 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. On the ground he has 817 yards on 88 carries with 11 touchdowns. To answer someone's earlier question about the running backs; Tony Kemp has 630 yards on 79 carries with 6 touchdowns, while Raymond Jackson has 464 yards on 95 carries with 5 touchdowns.
  13. PS: If you're going with now, we can move onto the next UofM superstar TOM BRADY-3 PEYTON MANNING-1 Go Blue! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. After reading over this thread, it looks like this will be a very interesting matchup for CHS. From the sound of it, it sounds like Gallatin runs pretty much the same style offense as the Cougars. CHS has traditionally defended this offense pretty well, and from the sound of it so has Gallatin. Because these two teams are so evenly matched, it is important to execute the little things well; sticking your blocking assignments, finishing your tackles, avoiding penalties, etc. Whichever team can execute this better and play mistake free football will win this game.
  15. I believe we were talking about college and not pro. And I beg to differ about him being a second-rate corner anyways. You watch him play today and he is still the same dominate, shut-down corner he was at UofM. 4 time Pro-Bowler, 3 time NFL all-pro selection. In fact, just two months ago he was named the NFL's defensive player of the month, so obviously he's still doing something right. Maybe he doesn't get the publicity or accolades that say a quarterback or running back might have, but he is still the same, dominant athlete today as he was while at Michigan. CHS 2007-1 SEC1rules-0
  16. What do you mean corner isn't as important as other positions? First off, every position on the field is important. If one guy doesn't do his job right, the entire team suffers. But broken coverage or losing a half-step on your receiver can be the difference between a win and a loss. Now they may not be the high-profile position like a QB or RB. But a genuine, shutdown corner is becoming a rarity in the football world.
  17. I was answering your question. "Since when do corners win the Heisman?"-1997 Charles Woodson, first and only defensive player to win the Heisman. "Since when do corners get taken in the first round of the draft."-Pretty much every year, but Woodson was taken in the 1st Round by Oakland in 1998.
  18. And I personally love knowing that UT fans STILL hold a grudge about the '97 Heisman. I don't know if there was ever a player who did more for his team in every aspect of the game than Charles Woodson. Shutdown corner, explosive returner, and served as a key playmaker on offense at times. I dont know If we'll ever see a player like him again.
  19. McLemore definitely graduated last year
  20. I'm guessing this guy has never been to Ann Arbor, Columbus, Happy Valley, or South Bend on gameday. Im sorry, but I've been to games at Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, and Gainesville. And the experience was nowheres as great as games at the Big House.
  21. Obviously a very disappointing result to a game. Centennial looked like they were carrying alot of momentum into the second half after two late TDs and a fumble recovery early in the 3rd. However, for whatever reason, we just fell apart towards the end. The interceptions killed us and we were shooting ourselves in the foot with stupid penalties. The Franklin D started tightening up and we couldn't break any plays. Centennial needs to put this behind them and get ready for next week. First playoff game since 2003 and its coming against a very tough Gallatin squad. Im proud of the way my Cougars have performed this year, but the seasons not over yet.
