I just want to say that I appreciate the posts from VG, BigG, and CLfan. It seems to me that debates about who is over- or under-rated are essentially pointless, and do a tremendous disservice to a bunch of talented young teams and individual girls who are simply trying to do the best they can within the system and schedule they are given. I don't know about you guys, but I am tremendously encouraged and excited to see so many young West Tennessee teams finally putting it together. Make no mistake, I believe there is still somewhat of a gap between the best of the best in West Tennessee and the rest of the state. But, I think that gap is going to close very quickly over the next couple of years. Kudos to all of the girls, coaches, teams, and parents who are working hard to bring respect to West Tennessee girls soccer. Practice hard, play well, and be safe. Oh, and please forgive those of us who occasionally show less class off the field than you show on it.

VG, I can certainly see where someone would be bothered. But, I truly think it was a case of trying to say something one way and, in the heat of the moment and all the emotion, it came out another. We've all done that, haven't we? Honestly, our girls have played with and against yours. Our families know your families. Lots of good people on both sides of the field and stands. Good game last night. It could have turned one way or the other in an instant. And, thanks for the luck. We'll need it (and then some).

I have a daughter that plays on the JCS team. Toward the latter part of the season our girls made a commitment to one another to play to glorify God -- win or lose. It's not about being the only christian, or better christians than anyone else. It's simply about being committed to things that are more important than soccer, and having a good attitude win or lose. I don't think anyone can be critical of that (though I am sure that some will be). Honestly, any one of us who follows any team in West Tennessee has seen the local media occasionally do a poor job of representing what was actually said or done, haven't we? Hope this helps.

Very well put, Volunteer General. Winning games and championships are fun and great, and are certainly very rewarding. But, games and championships are eventually forgotten by most folks. Hopefully our athletes are building character and learning lessons that will ultimately be more imporant and take them farther in life than just winning on the field. Good luck to all the remaining teams.

I've seen both games this year, and both could have gone either way. Considering that JCS has one senior, two juniors, and two freshmen among the starting 11, they have held their own pretty well overall this year. Looks like all three games this season will be played in wet conditions. We'll see how this one goes. Good luck to all.

Update Region 7 Semifinals: Jackson Christian 2 Martin Westview 0

USJ and Martin do not go to directly to substate. On Tuesday 10/24: USJ vs. Dyersburg and JCS vs. Martin-Westview in regional semifinals. Region finals will be on Thursday, with the two teams (winner and loser) advancing to play Madison and McNairy in the Sectionals on Saturday. Madison plays McNairy tomorrow as well to determine regional champs. Both advanced automatically due to no district tournament. Hope this helps to clarify.
