  3. Coach Logsdon has nothing to do with who is scheduled for the 'Cleveland duals', obviously that is done by those who schedule for Cleveland High, but I do miss seeing the battles of the past when everyone wrestled anyone.
  4. Manley was clearly dominating the action, and in fact was act of pinning his man when he got out of position trying for fall and went to his back. Manley was clearly the better wrestler; I'd like to see them go at it again.
  5. Waylon beat the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place guys in tournament-leaves no doubt who the best is.
  6. I would assume you mean Kenny Hill of East Ridge, who was actually a 4-timer(3 in the state of Ga.), which would be why he was left off the program. Just a guess, but I'm not sure this qualifies since your question says "multiple Tn. State Champion".
  7. I thought the quarter-final match between Westside and Cleveland was as intense as any throughout the tourney. I believe the Westside kid thought he'd won the match on four different occasions. I noticed the UTC coaches were right there watching a great match; they had to be impressed with both guys.
  8. It requires two different scenarios to win in either div.; numbers win in D-2, individual talent in D-1, or a combined state tourney. Bradley should win in D-1, but they would have a hard time winning D-2. Look how close Cleveland came to winning their region, but Bradley should pull away in the state. You can't have any weak spots in the D-2 race. It appears I have attempted to answer my own question.
  9. We have some great officials in Tn, but to pick out the best and give reasons why, might be stepping over the line. Personally this is one that I'd stay away from; there could be some hurt feelings if it goes down roads I've seen on this board.
  10. Make that attendance(I hate to misspell).
  11. Please no more mention of false rumors; don't give anyone any ideas. Let's keep this post about supporting UTC tonight; the best way to save any program is to have that program heavily supported. There was a good showing of attendence at the Illinois match, and there needs to be a good one tonight. With the only wrestling show in town tonight we should pack the place and be vocal. See you tonght at the Mac.
  12. The 48 hr notice rule would be violated; it must remain as original 6 lb+scratch.
  13. Follow bleacherbutt's directions; it's running. It may have been temporarily down to fix the name change at 189 previously mentioned.
  14. One correction at the 189 lb class is the 1st seed-MBA is correct, but it should be Blake Goodman.
  15. Duggerd1, I know this appears to be on the wrong post, but this response is for your request to know the McCallie Inv. schedule; it is found at this website along with other pertinent info: http://www.mccallie.org/athlet/index.htm
  16. The McCallie Inv. schedule and other pertinent info can be found at : http://www.mccallie.org/athlet/index.htm
  17. Cardinal Gibbons was ranked in the pre-season as the #2 team in the SE, behind Bros Martin of La. Their excuse was that they overscheduled by two matches, which is lame in itself, since any coach could have have worked out tri-meets or quads if he really wanted to come. The word we hear is that they're not nearly as good as the ranking had them. They've already lost once, winning only four matches in a dual in Miami, and they are barely winning others. They'll not be invited back, especially after teams like Clarksville and Atlanta's Lassiter were turned down after the field was full. Still the tournament looks to be incredibly tough as usual; teams that are favored include McEachern(top ranked in Ga, with 10 Srs.), host McCallie, Father Ryan(winner of both Dual tourneys and unbeaten thus far, Soddy Daisy, Baylor, MBA, Vestavia (Ala), Collins Hill(last yr's Ga state champs), plus a ton of great match-ups. Maybe we'll see Manson and Dunning at 103, and James and Leen in the finals at 119, but many others as well.
  18. Don't know about the injury to Campbell, but Lane didn't make the weight in the morn as required by Ga. rules. So I think there is possibly a 12 pt swing with him in the line-up, and if Campbell were to simply win, you have another 9 pt difference to Soddy's favor, making it a much closer match-something like 37-27. The fact of the matter is that McEachern is the best team in Ga.(heavily favored to win state in talking with other Ga coaches). They have 10 Srs. and they already look to be in mid-season form. Look for them to be real contenders for the McCallie Inv. next week. That tournament is stacking up to be THE test in the southeast, with one of the new teams from Fla-Cardinal Gibbons, ranked 2nd in the Southeast region in pre-season pools.
  19. Actually there is no question about who The Best is, but you have to go way back to early 60's-Bill Harlow of Sewanee St Andrews(of old mid-south) This guy was an NCAA National champion for Okla. St. at around 190. Even more impressive was his 2nd place finish in the World Championships. Deaddux help me on this, did he win the mid-south 5X?
  20. Great news on the the two ex-Bradley boys; other Tn boys that competed over the weekend include, Phillip Simpson was 2nd place in Cornell Inv.(he's up a weight for another month, but he's already won two other tourney's), J.T.Hagen placed fourth in the same tourney at 165, after placing 2nd last week in another tourney at 174, Waylon Lowe won two matches over Div.1 opponents this weekend, and Darren McNight won at 141 as the starter in his dual match with Hofstra yesterday. This along with the great progress our UTC boys are doing under Terry Brands should make all of us proud of our guys.
  21. In my opinion one of the top 5 coaches in the state is Al Miller, veteran coach at Cleveland HS. Al remains not only a student of the sport, but he is maybe our state's formost ambassador. He has taken teams on several international trips; he has worked at World Championships and the Olympics. He did a great job announcing the Nat'l Jr World's last spring in Chattanooga. A good clinician, who, if he had the talent in his room that some have each year, would have several state titles at Cleveland.
  22. I just saw the movie, 'Reversal', this past weekend; it's the worst portrayal of the sport I have ever seen. Ken Chertow was right in his negative assessment of the movie; but he was too kind. I was hoping this could be seen by any wrestler for enjoyment, motivation, or simply reaffirming what a great sport it is. The whole movie is bad, as it misrepresents the sport in many ways. A couple points-terrible weight loss methods, an 8yr old cutting weight, nose bleeds because of excessive wt. cutting measures. Several moral issues and the lead character quits the week before the post-season begins. Don't waste your time watching; you know when the lead character is also the writer and producer, you're going to have an inferior movie. You'll never see this flick in the theaters. By far, worst of all wrestling movies, even worse than 'One More Shot'. Rating for 'Reversal'-1/10 of a star's point.
  23. Who is the only wrestler to be a 4x finalist with a unified state tournament(private and public) all four years. Tn's three 4x champs had years when only one faction competed. This not to take anything away from them; they were all great. Martin Francis didn't compete against the private(ironic isn't it) schools his first year or two. Phillip Simpson and Matt Keller didn't compete in a unified state their latter years. On a side note, they both won the state in 1999 at the same wt-125(it could have been a better match-up than any, ever- even better than Nelson vs. McTorry). If together, obviously we have one less 4x champ. Not only did this individual compete all 4 yrs in a unified state, he is the only wrestler in TSSAA history to go undefeated 3 straight years. He had 2 losses as a freshman, both by one pt, with a penalty point in the last secs. to make the difference, and both losses against state champs. He lost to Sandlin of Baylor in only his second HS match, later avenging that loss twice, the second time by a major dec. His 2nd and last loss was in the state finals 12-11(hand caught in singlet, called for grabbing the uniform). He is my pick as not only the best, but the toughest wrestler ever. This guy could have won the next 4 wt classes above him. Who is he? David Vance-3x champ, and runner-up(1988-91).
