  1. Don't know too much about macon. I know they lost the Stinson kid and that was about their whole team so don't expect them to do too much this year.
  2. Let me know how this game turns out. I'm eager to see how Smith performs against a team that good.
  3. I really think it all depends on how well the dekalb freshmen have adjusted. The coach is going to have to lean on the talented bunch of youngsters heavily to have any major depth. No offense, but like Dekalb, Van Buren girls have had a rough few years also. This game could go either way, even though i'll be rooting for my school, Dekalb.
  4. I think that youth will be LA's downfall. Yes, they have played together since fouth grade, but thet doesnt stack up against proven 7-AA veterans. Upperman and Dekalb will be the top two teams, easily. LA will have its flashes of brilliance throughout the season, but they may not be able to pick up any major momentum until district tourney.
  5. From what i have heard, the coach for smith county makes it a point for his teams for be conditioned to the max. Yes, so will the lady bees, i expect the two matchups to be dogfights until the end, but upperman may not get a W over Smith Co. until the District tourney. The coach for Smith County is a wizard with defense, look for them to guard upperman's threes with ease. And finally, York is just one big question mark. The freshman, Eacret i think her last name was, played brilliantly in the district tourney, but how consistent can she be? How well will the Lady Dragons/Dragonettes adjust to their new press and run playing style? I think they will make life tough for other teams, but this team has switched to rebuilding mode after losing Brown. And i guess everyone may think i've forgotten about LA, but i haven't, i just know they have third place locked up. LA rarely has an "off" season.
  6. Smith County probably will have a good team...a fourth place team. Believe it or not, but Dekalb has reloaded again after losing Randolph and Hooper. Look for DC tigers to beat LA twice and push Upperman to the limit. DC may drop a game to smith, but just one.
  7. Dekalb county will definitly be a very competitive team. They return some very talented players including Travis Woodward and John Malone. They have also picked up some more power in the to complement Zach Rowland's brutal post up game. This year the tigers will actually play excellent D, something that they seemed to lack throughout most of last year. They will once again finish second in the district, Upperman will be crowned district champs though...
  8. I think the fans and parents were hoping for an instant turnaround. Thats just not gonna happen, especially in a district with Upperman, Smith Co., and Livingston. Call me crazy, but from what i've seen, Dekalb will be contending for a district title in two years. The youngsters on this team are hungry. The whole time they've been playing in middle school, they have had to watch their high school counterparts struggle. Now they're eager to make a name for themselves.
  9. Which teams in the state have major lockdown defense?
  10. Which teams can completly lock you down?
  11. People aren't very happy about her staying, actually. And to tell the truth, i wasone of them after watching stumble to another 0-12 district finish. But i think she may have bitten off more than she could chew for a first year coach. This district is easily one of the toughest in the state and Dekalb girls basketball has never been a roaring success. Look for a very young team to compete in the district in her second year. Not young in literal terms, but as in playing time. There's a good chance in a freshman starting at point guard with Cynthia Woodward being as talented as she is. Don't expect a district victory for the young coach this year though. People just need to give her time, things will begin to change in Smithville.
  12. Although Upperman returns their entire team, their hopes of a district title are completely in the hands of Smith Co. If the 6'7" fresman center has adjusted to the speed of the high school game as i believe she will, she could easily become an unstopppable force. First and second place go to Smith and Upperman. The order of these two vary as to how well the fresman plays. Smith will have no problem replacing Tara. I have watched them play in person and Tara's younger sister can shoot the ball just as well as her. Look for a four guard, one post playing style for Smith county, while Upperman will continue to use their smothering press.
