  1. Congrats coach! This team looks like it could go a long way this year. Good luck!
  2. Not a terribly tough district. Smith County, York, and DC are always contenders for the top spot. Decent competition all around though. Coach Bond always toughens his girls up by entering them in tourneys and such. They could go pretty deep this year...
  3. They also lost to Marion County but recovered for day two and ended up winning the wholle thing. Congrats to Sarah West on Tourney MVP!
  4. It is the job of both the coaches and players so she cannot be put completely to fault...she cant get out there and make their legs move for them, nor can she take shots for them...Lifting weights would work wonders(regardless of what people may believe). They will be strong enough to finish under the goal even against physical teams and their shooting will not slack at the end of the game because their endurance will hold out. Running regularky will help them keep up with the FAST teams like Upperman...lol

The Tigerettes from DC seem to have a pretty good team this year. They're 12-1 with their only loss coming to an out of state team. How far can they go?
  6. Well you know as well as i do that no matter who we play, we keep it close or even lead for the first 5-6 minutes. The main problem is conditioning and not having any sort of weight program. All the times they miss easy shots or cant drive the ball period is because the girls are exhausted. Ive talked to some former players and they seem to have it in their heads that lifting weights will throw off their shots....makes no sense to me. Agee runs the Middle team ragged(my little cousin plays) and im sure Hendrix does the same...but that wont helpl them in high school.
  7. Lashay Davis from Upperman is awesome...and still has two more years...
  8. Thats a surprise...i thought he played...but once again, i think the Coach for the New Jersey Nets never played either...can somebody confirm this?
  9. The eight graders coming up are a pretty talented bunch. Both the Middle School and the West school finished with .500 records but most believe that the Middle school is better becuse they play better competition. Nikki Bass was probably the most dominant player for the West school and Martha Webb for middle. Both are post players. Middle school had better guards tho and bring their point and 2-guard up along with Webb. Jennings is still going to help, or at least thats the way its looking so far...things could change though...who knows what could happen...His daughter is probably going to play(and start) her sixth grade year at the middle school. She played in every game for the west school this year as a fifth grader and is going to be VERY good. With this happening, theres a chance that he wont come back to help so he can have more time to watch her and help her develope...
  10. This year's freshmen and next could get this program back on track not to mention all the good players DC will have otherwise.
  11. Keep the thoughts and opinions coming! lol...
  12. Dekalb will compete and give some ppl fits, but until they play a really tough schedule, they wont be able to hang with the big dogs.
  13. I dont know exactly when they are or anything...just heard talk from some of the stuff they did from some players. Players are going to have to take some of the practicing(shooting especially) into their own hands. Effort is what changes programs, it starts there.
  14. If a coach is that intent on preparing his or her players for college then they will support the shot clock fully. It will help them to make the adjusment in the overall speed of the college game. Watchin some televised games, you see how unprepared some of the freshmen are when they first play in a college game(not all, but quite a few.) And, no, a shot clock is not going to teach them to shoot too quickly, that is a ridiculous assumption. If a team is taught good defense, then they shouldnt even have to worry about stalling. Even playing with a thirty second time as it is in college, that is an AMPLE amount of time to run the offense. Most teams dont hold the ball more than 15-20 seconds anyways. And before anyone starts attacking me, i have nothing to do with Oliver Springs OR Gleason. I just think the Shot Clock would help the overall high school game.
  15. Dunno tryouts will probably be pretty soon and i kno they go to a few camps over the summer along with some practice time. People should know how the team is looking even before next school year, im guessing.
  16. Yeah, youre right...there are some schools in even worse predicaments than the one we are talking about though.
  17. CANT imagine where that would be happening...
  18. Well said! There are many players who wouldnt make very good coaching just for the simple fact that they would expect and criticize too much...with that being said, players have to be pushed to realize their true potential.
  19. This topic wasnt originally started at the beginning of this season anyway so it doesnt matter. I felt like posting on this one again...lol...but yeah i guess you have a point about things being the same. But lets also try to see it in small steps also, get the District win, then focus on having an awesome season. If a team doesnt take one game at a time then they could be making a big mistake.
  20. congrats! Good luck in the future!
  21. Well this season is over and DC seems to be bringing back a solid core next year and showed improvement towards the end of this season. Can they get the disrict W next year? I think so...
  22. This entire site is basically rumours and opinions...and my opinion is that someone can discuss this if they want to, its not as if the players are being accused of a federal offense and what people say will really have a major impact on their lives. Im sure most of these kids could care less whether people with names like Hoops Fan2 and dctigerfan07 think they are transferring schools or not.
  23. If someone loves the game, and are willing to take the time to learn about it, they deserve to have their chance.Im sure there are many successful coaches who never played...i think the coach for the New Jersey Nets never played...if im remembering correctly.
  24. Keep the discussion coming!
