  1. I have not seen Robinson this year, did last year. I didn't see that much showboating. i will agree that doc is eccentric as they come, don't pretend to understand him. almost bobby knight like in that he seems to have the love-hate thing going on with my way or highway. one thing you can't say is that he is over-rated, anyone that won 2 state titles and fell short state a couple of years ago against bolivar with chism, kemp and kemp and mlk had johnny lee a 5-6" floor leader who had some guts, clarence smith and some other guys who filled roles. I will say i've seen Slater a couple of times this year and he does as much showboating as i saw out of robinson last year. I will say i have this lipscomb team is a little looser coached than previous, i never recall them ever doing clear outs and going 1 on 1 or even wearing sweatbands etc. Nothing wrong with any of it, but you can tell that things have changed from the old school mustangs from a few years ago.
  2. I believe Z Mason has been at the school since middle school, not for certain since I am not a CPA guy, just a basketball fan. Anyway, you obviously have no intelligence. I can see someone not liking Drew, but to make the comments you made about him shows you are not only unintelligent you are not even honest. The SEC doesn't have too many bad players on their rosters and there are no bad players who start for SEC teams. I would not be surprised if you fly a rebel flag in the back of your pickup truck.
  3. A somewhat neutral opinion. I saw WH-H play once this year and really like the way the move the ball on offense. They are scrappy on defense and rebound better than you would think. Love their point guard, he is a one man press breaker. They have a good coach as well. Not much room for error given their depth and lack of size. With a quality-experienced big guy they could be a really special team that could go far, unfortunately they don't really have one. I will go with WHH by 5 points. Although, given the rivalry of this one I would think East Robertson will be up for it and could surprise them.
  4. Below is the kind of overzealous prognostication that I was referring to. This one was your prediction about Smith County, there are more, just didn't take the time to find them. BenStiller23 Dec 10 2006 - 03:39 PM Post #2 Competitor White House 64-37 in this one. Like I said WHHS is a good team and really not in need of you talking smack constantly. It is good to learn how to win and lose with class. Showing my age with my disdain for all of the self-promotion and conceit.
  5. Given BenStiller23's previous prediction records of WHHS blowing out opponents and then either winning by a slim margin or losing, this is not a good sign. The reality translation factor of BenStiller23 saying they win by 7 = losing by 10, if you compare the previous outrageous margin of victory prognostications. I actually like watching WHHS along with some other teams in Robertson/Sumner county along with N. Nashville, but prefer the style of letting someone's play do the talking rather than all of the smack that goes on here. WH has a chance to have a real good season, although I think they only go 6-7 deep at most, which could be troublesome in the post season. I do like the guards and the big guy, just wish he was a little more mobile in transition. Best of luck.
  6. i've seen hill and jerrell play and they are a great guard combo. i've seen barnes and welch play and they are a great guard combo. benstiller23, i don't think any of us have seen you play. my guess is you are #23 on WHHS and probably only see action when it is a blowout. am i right? let's just let everyone play the game. it is obvious both schools have good teams and good players. been some really good players come out of class a ball, so it is really silly for anyone to put down class a ball. ron mercer played in the nba and his team was a class a program when he was there. the funny thing is that barnes and hill have not said much on this board, it is people talking for them or against them. i don't blame hill for speaking up when benstiller thought slagle was hill, didn't take much brainpower to figure out who slagle was as it was posted all throughout this thread. i think whhs is going to have a good team and they are one of about 5 or 7 that i see every year, but some of you guys posting on here are talking way too much, just play some ball first and then see where it goes. i think whh is going to have a good team as well. slagle maybe you should let some of this go and make the best of your new home. good luck to both teams.
  7. I think a few of the WH Heritage posters need to take an anger management course or 2. I'm sure they are not representative of WHH as a whole, but those who post frequently seem to be mad at the world and their own as well. Life is better when you aren't angry and mean.
  8. J Hill from White House Heritage, seen him a few times, ice on the 3
  9. Can someone from Goodpasture confirm that he is not at the school? That will be big for them as they didn't have much back but him.
  10. Not sure but I heard they were playing the Washington Generals several times.
  11. Pioneer better hope this approach works better for them than it did College Heights. First the coach left that recruited all the players to a tiny school. Then the players left before the door ever shut from the coach leaving. All the while they had joined TSSAA and found themselves without any players for 2 years. Then on an unrelated matter the whole school closed down this year because of some internal politics. This stuff usually does not work out long term. On the surface it sounds more like an AAU team and coach using a small school with probably minimal academic standards to set up shop for a traveling aau team. I predict in 2 to 3 years Pioneer will be back to playing other really small non-TSSAA schools and no sign of any high caliber ball players found on campus. Sorry to say this stuff generally represents Christian Schools in a bad light and is unfortunate.
  12. :justwrestle: Easy there ejp, no one had said anything bad about slagle until after you posted. People were talking about him being a good player and how WHHeritage would miss him and someone asked about where he went. Whiteshadow came in with a cheap shot after you posted. I saw him play a couple of times and along with Hill and Jerrel kid thought they had 3 fine players there that had been with the program since the beginning. I don't think anyone meant any harm talking about Slagle until whiteshadow flung a comment after your post.
  13. Does anyone know if Pioneer is actually playing at this tournament? Anyone know anything else about the coach or other players?
  14. Who is David Lipscombs new coach? Is he a Lipscomb system guy? I've watched tons of Lipscomb basketball over the past 10 years and their key to success is their system and their unbelievably hard working gym rats. You can't name very many natural athletes that have come out of Lipscomb although they have had phenomanal success for what they have had to work with. They have been made through great teaching and hard work. And involvment in a system that most were introduced to going back to when they were in elementary school. I know the Slater kid is somewhat of an exception. I am just wondering if the new coach is from the Lipscomb system. Pickens was around along time before he was head coach. This will be interesting for them, especially longer term. Any insight??
  15. Juice00, I agree with you about Jenkins being a player. I saw him a couple of times last year and you don't see that many freshman playing that BIG in Middle TN. I saw WHHS a couple of times last year and Barnes can play some ball as well. Where did Jameson end up at? Is the big guy the same one you all had last year? He was not very mobile when I saw him play last year. Not unlike myself he could have stood to lose about 40 - 50 lbs. Hope he is in better shape this year. I do expect CJ Davis to be much more assertive with Frye graduated now.
  16. What does Goodpasture have this year besides CJ Davis? If they don't have anything back then I could agree that WHHS would represent Region 4. Region 5 is tough with MLK and David Lipscomb along with CPA. Does Giles have anything? I feel bad for the teams in district 11 having to go up agians all the team in 12 in Region 6.
  17. I think Drew Maddux will get CPA up and running farily quickly. I have a feeling they will run and gun. I think MLK will be better than people think. They always end up being better than their talent. Although Robinson is a real player, Doc will get some others to step up.
  18. I only saw him once last year but as a soph Jared Hill from WHHeritage could fill it up, i got to see a 2 or 3 of his games then. He should still be playing for them and a Sr. Not big or overly quick but deadly with the 3. I forgot about another one I saw last year until I saw his name on another post. J Jenkins from Station Camp. He was a freshman last year and I saw a couple of games and I don't remember the kid missing. I think he scored 17 a game as Fr.
  19. With Slagle gone who does WH-Heritage have coming back? Weren't they pretty small to begin with? What about ERHS do they still have the big guys? Who are some of the better players for the other teams?
  20. Just curious after looking at WHHS roster, how did they get all of those guys to grow that much in height in a year. Everyone is 3" taller this year than last year. Of course Larry Johnson transferred to UNLV at 6'-9" and ended up being 6'-5 1/2" when he played for the Knicks. Calm down everyone, I'm just joking. If you can play ball it doesn't matter if you are 5-10" or 6-1". We know WHHS played some good ball last year and I assume they will this year as well. Just having some fun with the fast growing roster.
  21. Pioneer Christian was playing really small Christian schools last year with enrollments under a 100 and getting beat by them. I heard they went out and hired an AAU coach by the name of Carl Reed and he has recruited kids from all over to come play for them and none of the students that were at the school last year are even on the team. There is a link on the web when you google Pioneer Christian Academy and it talks about a 6-8 kid transferring there from MO by the name of Wilkes and he is being recruited by Cincinnati and UT. Sounds like what College Heights tried to do a couple of years ago on a much grander scale by going after kids out of the state. Probably be the same result in a couple of years, they will be back to being beaten by the small local schools.
