  1. If DB loses Friday night (JC a good team/bad team it doesn't matter) there will be a bigger explosion than Mr Crazy's head. And we are not talking the big E. There was a very strong undertow last year after an early exit. Several more loses and it could turn into a category V. The pressure is on DB, and the coaches and players feel it. JC needs to take advantage of it early. GC has not gone to his Bowden playbook and will keep things conservative. I have said from the beginning this team is not strong enough to overcome mistakes. A failed Bowden play and GC really looks bad. I agree with an earlier post of DB needing a go to player that can dominate when needed. Over the years DB has certainly run into their fair share of those on other teams, especially in the playoffs.
  2. I guess we are old school. Mind games are played at the high school level, just look at the Oak Ridge game last year when neither team was going to take the field. The walk is a tradition that can be intimidating. The hot dog part serves to only fire up the other team.
  3. #45 needs to be in on both sides of the ball. He is a good LB and needs to be in for 47. Maybe not as fast, but they need some size and strength on the right side. In the WB game he ran the ball 3 straight times first half ( that is smart), picked up 12 yards and 1st down and never touched the ball again. In OR he ran once (I can remember?) and picked up 6 or 7yards and that was it. He can block or run (does need to get lower). Honestly, after watching last year, they ran #33 and #18 at FB with good success and #45 was backup. I dont think #18 has been in the backfield this year. Good athlete, throw him the ball as a TE. He can catch AND take a hit. #96 has been on the hardwood too long and out of football. Cant catch and take a lick this year but could be ready next year. There is a reson why the players hold up 4 fingers at the beginning of the 4th, it belonged to DB. Not this year, out of gas by the 4th leads to to tired play and mental mistakes. This Friday night should be a win for DB, but so should UT on Saturday.
  4. The Saturday experts have been saying for several years GET UNDER CENTER! Not just on Saturday mornings at the Jan Mar. Had GC been sporting the shotgun Friday night the score would have not been close. The walk as you see it now, with hotdogs show boating, just started the past several years. Those tears must be from the onions on the hotdogs. They would have never let that happen in prior years, nor some of the other things that are now allowed. Coaches walking off after the game and not shaking hands, players quiting and then coming back to name a few. It kind of reminds me of what was happening a few years ago in Knoxville when things were out of control.
  5. The "panic" did not start this year. This early season record was predicted. The style of offense and the # of players playing was not. As in Knoxville, it has taken several seasons to get to the stage DB fans are at now.
  6. In the past they have, but to be fair, it is a new offense this year. The JV is slowly working in the plays, just not signaling them in for the boys to read their arm bands. You will see Friday night, Dazed and confused.
  7. #47 led the team in tackles in the OR game albeit sometimes 7 & 8 yards off the line of scrimage. Because of that stat, regardless of where the tackle was or the ones he missed watching from his seat, he will keep starting. There is a long list of players along with BB that can play that position. Guys that are stronger, faster and will stick, not arm tackle. It will never change because GC never changes, PERIOD. CS's best chance to see some action will be on defense. The Fresh run a different O and the Varsity O is too hard to learn in this season. There is no play book for him to study. But the good news is they practice the walk and he will get that down, even the hotdogging cr@p by a select few. Hey GC, what ever happen to tradition????? Heck, the guys playing dont know the play half of the time. IF he gets any O time, it will be because he brought the play in vs a 25 second hand signal. Oh what a novel idea to run the play in. Perhaps break the huddle with an unbalanced side that would cause the defense to make an adjustment. With the play getting in so late, does anybody know if they ever audible or if the QB is allowed to?
  8. I hope JC plays more than 15 players a game /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. "get a look on the scout team" is bovine dung! Ask a sr or a so, they will all tell you the scout team is NEVER allowed to deliver a hit, only be hit. GC has his mind made up and there is no changing, no subbing, no matter what you do in practice. The way it is, was and will be. Part of the problem with the seniors this year, they got limited experience last year even though it would be 35-0 at the half and the first team would play all of the 3rd quarter. Stevens has some great skills, but there is too much arm tackling. Everybody thought another OT game but GC. Not real sure about the play calling with 2 minutes to go and you just fumbled the snap to make it 2nd down and 12 inside your own 10. Call something conservative and live to play overtime. Big adjustments on O...moved under center. Was it because of field conditions or will we see shotgun back again this week? Bliss has DB number one this week...Daniel Boone. With the residential boom in that area look to see that school come on in the next 5 -10 years.
  10. No, the embarrassing thing will be if DB's coaches walk off the field without shaking hands like 2 of them did against Knox B! Both of them left straight for the locker room. One is brand new, perhaps that is what he was taught when he played at UT. It reminds me of a couple of years ago when a DB player chastised another player on the side line for a bad pass. The fans see everything that happens down there and those 2 coaches were embarrassing for DB and this city. If OR runs any offense to the left side it will get ugly fast. LB and DB are too small and to weak. The LB gets planted 3/4 of the plays and they arm tackle. For it to be close DB has to be lucky (score other than offense) and OR stink it up (turnovers).
  11. After this Friday night you may change your mind and flip flop 3 and 4. Michigan number 11.
  12. South 35-Greeneville 7 (scores against 2nd team). Phillips throws for 2 and runs one. Don't take the reb flag, it can get nasty in Greene County. Go Rebs!
  13. If its your momma and my sister, OH %$#!, we are related! You are my nephew. God dont tell anyone I'm your uncle.
  14. I have never thought of Mrs WaCo as fat, plump, but never fat.
  15. A new coach...you asked. Any program tolerates lots of things when winning, lose and fans have little tolerance for other issues.
  16. Contrary to the motto for the DB program "100 strong..." their must only be about 15. A little rest for some of the players would help in the 4th. Most teams run the same offense for V and JV. Why does DB run two different offenses? The varsity looks totally confused. Every play you see a player asking another player what to do on the play. I also found it interesting to see the headlines that a VA high school canceled a game because of staff infection. I heard DB announced at their booster meeting a DB player had it and had to be sent home. I hope the Bulldogs were made aware. The fat lady is not singing, but based on the comments this weekend I think she is in the room.
  17. Not the GC way. He likes to promise all 99 boys and 1 girl they will "get a look" to keep them around to make his side line look good and his civic club speeched sound great. The 14-15 boys that play the entire game cant handle the 4th qtr., too tired. There are plenty of guys that can tackle on the side line too, not arm tackle and not 5 yards off the ball. DB needs this win tonight, it could make a BIG difference for the next few games.
  18. Then maybe the Vikes need to borrow a few flags when they play the Rebs, they are going to need lots of luck.
  19. Perhaps USC (South Carolina) would fit too. He could help get the flag off the confederate soldier's monument at the Statehouse grounds and get the NAACP to stop the tourism boycott. I think the next goal should be to eliminate the southern twang and replace it with anothr language...
  20. You might be a redneck if your school closes for NASCAR...you might be a redneck if Sunday moning services are canceled to park race fans in the church parking lot.
  21. Too late for that extra running now. Their style of practicing plus only 2-3 times a week is not going to get the body in shape. If a player were able to still work out this summer after a DB workout, then the coaches must not be working the players hard enough at the school. Muscles need 36-48 hours recovery after a good work out. It sounds like the field house was more for show than use.
  22. I keep hearing "better condition" and DB not in condition, varsity included. Did the 6:30 am summer workouts not work for DB or is it the type of workout the coaches have the players doing? Is it a good program and the DB players just did not put forth the effort? Several years ago the players had more leg cramps during the games, but that was attributed to a supplement without enough water intake. With a new multi-million $ field house there is NO excuse for DB not to be in the best condition. Bobby will deliver the mail, neat kid.
  23. Maybe, but South JV looked good. They truely are JV vs. the many JRs (based on varsity roster) that were dressed out for DB.
