  1. What used to be a loud and proud rivalry is now kind of quiet. Both teams have had their struggles this year. Go Owls
  2. I would like to see them practice a nice balanced attack. Get a rhythm going and keep it going. To much relying on big plays. Grind it out take time off the clock and keep the D on the sidelines. Go owls
  3. First off I thought McMinn was the better team last night. They made the plays when they had to. If these two teams played each other 10 times it would be 5&5. Now Coach Williams has every right to ask the TSSAA to look into the refs for two dangerous no calls at the end of the game. Twice the McMinn defender led with his head to the head of the Owl player. This is a personal foul on all levels but it should especially be called in High School. The WR on the first one was totally defenseless and the second was classic spearing. This is as dangerous for the tackler as it was for the RB.
  4. Looks like a great night for football. Hoping for an injury free game and Owl victory. Go Owls
  5. When teams are this close often special teams make the difference. I know #5 for the Owls has taken a couple of kicks back for a quick 6. Could be what pushes Owls over the top. No score prediction, just looking for a good injury free game and an Owl win.
  6. Sounds go to me, throw in a punt return by #5 and I'm buying.
  7. I am sure McMinn has a good team, but I doubt they are in Siegels league. If the Owls had to lose one last week was the one. I hope they learned where the holes are and are working hard this week to fix them. Should be a good game, I always enjoy going to Athens. Best turf around.
  8. All the problems seem like things that can be fixed. I have been bragging on their ability to tackle this year, not sure why they forgot this game. Didn't know about the missing MLB. As I said above, learn from it and start concentrating on this weeks game against McMinn. Time to start a new thread. Congrats Siegel and Go Owls
  9. If there were no injuries than this was probably a good lesson for the Owls. They now know some of their weaknesses that had not been exposed during the first three games. It was good to see the number of penalties down to two. I think Beadley is a good QB but does tend to telegraph, now he will film to study so that he can get better. Lick your wounds today boys, tomorrow start preparing for next week Go Owls
  10. Good luck tonight Owls. I think if you play solid on both sides of the ball you can pull out the win. Hope neither team suffers any injuries. Hate I am going to miss it, will try to listen in. Go Owls
  11. This will be a fun game and a test for both teams. From what I am reading the strength of Siegel is their offense and the strength of Ooltewah is their defense. Like all games it will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. Hope for a clean injury free game. Go Owls
  12. Why beside home field. Would like to learn more about Siegel.
  13. Don't know much about Siegel other than they play in one of the toughest regions if not the toughest region in TN. Glad the Owls are playing one of those Middle TN teams, the expierence will be good if they make it to playoffs. Siegal fans tell us about your team, strengths and weaknesses and what we can expect to see on Friday. I will give you my take on the Owls. Offense Good mixture of run and pass. Has several good backs with #28 being the bruiser up the middle and #5 being the scat back. Need to hold onto the ball better. Passing has been good, although QB tends to telegraph the quick out pass that led to a pick 6. O-Line has been steady with no strength or weakness really sticking on out. Defense Strength of the team. Not huge, but fast and are tackling well. Have been getting good pressure from both the middle of the line and the outside. Backfield covers well and is fast. Tackles well after catch. Need to watchout for the stupid off-sides penalties. Special teams Kicking game seems fair although we did miss a PAT last week. Coverage team was better, but still not great. Penalties and turnovers have kept the Owls from putting up big numbers. Clean those things up and they should be able to compete with anyone.
  14. Voytik has a great arm. I got there early to watch him warm up. Like all HS QB's he has a lot to learn. There were several times his WR's were open but he waited to long to pull the trigger. Granted the Owls CB's and safty's have good speed and were able to close the gap before the ball got there. The Raiders receivers also seem to cut their routes short once he has to scramble. He would just heave the ball as far as he could which was twenty yards past his receiver. The play calling was also strange, run run pass punt. I thought he would come out slinging the ball to set up the run later. The little 10 yard sideline play was open all night the receivers dropped three of them though. Good win Owls and as someone said earlier someone needs to give the defense coaches lunch. This is the best all around tackling team they have had since I started watching the Owls in 04. They also are very disciplined except for the stupid offsides penalties.
  15. Owls win 23-14. Proably the worst officiated game I have ever seen. Owls defense looked awesome and if the refs would have let them play the offense was not so bad. 3 and 0 with a tough game next week. Go Owls
  16. Less than two hours to kick off. Good luck to both teams hope for no injuries and an Owl win. Go Owls
  17. Like most games it is going to come down to line play. Get after Voytik and don't give him time and it will be a long night for the Blue Raiders. Similarly Stevens needs some time to get rid of the ball. Last week we had a lot of short passes that turned into big plays, plus some big runs up the middle. Tried to do some quick research about Clevelands running game. In the one article I read it appeard Voytik was their leading rusher as well with 16 carries for 57 yards. If that is all they have for a running game and I am not saying it is, than the Owls should come out on top. Go Owls
  18. First let's talk a little football since I have already been accused of talking on the food network (I keed). This early in the season it is so hard to compare teams and the strength and weaknesses of their competition. There is no way you can compare Alcoa and Knox Catholic to Brainerd and East Ham. Later in the season we will be able to compare their strengths and weaknesses to more accurately tell how we did against them. All we know now is the Owls won both of their games rather handily and Cleveland lost theirs. I did not see the first game, but against East Ham the Owls had a good balance of running and passing and except when they had the big lead and lost intensity the D looked good too. The middle of the D line played lights out and except for a time our two the DE's and LB's had good containment. Secondary was not tested often. Thought they tackled well after catch. Kick Off and Punt teams need to maintain discipline and tackle better. Return teams were excellent. Now to the band. They are bringing back a show they did in 1996. The Owl band is a show band and likes to use props. They call it theater on grass. I too wish they would play more in the stands and please learn some new stand music. Mr Denton has been there 30 years so I don't think he is going to change. I predict Owls by 7 in a back and forth game. And yes I am looking forward to a BBQ sandwich.
  19. Actually alumni band geek dad x 2. We are worse than the band geeks themselves. I do love the game though.
  20. Thanks looking forward to the game. Should be a fun one for both teams. Last question, anything special in the concession stand? I like to support the band programs.
  21. Yes I do. I could always do one of those posts my QB is better than your QB and start a flame war, but was hoping to talk football. There has not been much conversation good or bad since realignment. I thought the Owls looked good last Friday night. I think this week will tell if they are real or just looked good against weaker teams. Both lines are much improved from last year and the play calling was fun mixing in both the run and the pass. Haven't seen that for a while. We need to be careful on containment on outside runs and kick coverage was not very good.
  22. ClevelandBlueRaiderFan just wondering after two games what's working, what's not. Who should we watch besides your QB? I will have to ask one of the other Owl fans to give you the same since I missed the first game.
