  1. Hey, does any one know how the all tourney team is picked? I thought in the past it was based on points and how you played in the district games, and the top 4 teams. However, this year proved to be different. Just curious.
  2. Yes, good guess! I would like to say, that I know Loudon was disappointed, however, their actions after the game were poor sports. When the team was announced for runner up, they all just sat there. The coach got up, took the trophy and they just sat there. No one got up, clapped, or took pics. I understand they were upset, etc., but they did not even clap when AC was announced either. Come on gals! You played a good game.
  3. From what I was told, the lady jackets wont be playing in any Christmas Tournaments. I believe the resume thieir regular season schedule January 6th.
  4. Stone definitely struggled Friday night. However, give credit where credit is due. Loudon absolutley shot the lights out of it. I know Loudon is a good team, however, I watched them play this year and they didnt shoot as well as they did Friday night. Stone just happen to have an off night and Loudon was on fire. I will say this though, if Stone wants to get better, they need to have other offensive options besides just shooting the three. Friday night was a perfect example, they werent hitting from outside. They went inside at the beginning of the game and got Janelle in foul troube, once she left the game, Stone just abandoned the inside game and starting shooting from outside. Needless to say, they werent effective. During the second half, they again went inside and were able to score. I'm not saying go inside everytime, but they can use the inside game to open up the outside game and vice versa. I'm sure they will get better during the season. Hopefully when districts roll around, everything will come together and Stone can repeat as district champs.
  5. I've heard some people think I've put some of these comments on this board. With that being said, I thought I would go ahead and give my two cents worth. We moved to Crossville this summer. My daughter does play for the Lady Panthers and is absolutely loving it. With all the stuff beng said on this board, I can assure all the previous posters that this team is doing just fine. Is Destiny a "Great Player", I guess that really depends on your definition of great, In my eyes, she's very good, probably one of the better high school players I've seen and I've watched a ton of basketball. Are there things she can improve on, of course. If there werent, the WNBA would already be knocking on her door. The other girls, they too are good players. My daughter came from a team that relied on her to play very aggressive at the post. Although most people would consider her undersized, I personnaly think she holds her own. She has played against players in AAU that were 6'3 and 250lbs and never once backed away from them, even doing a very good job against them most of the time. Of course, I'm her dad so I guess I'm just a little biased. As for Coach Tim, BELIEVE me when I say that the girls on this team are blessed to have him. Not just for Coaching them after school and during the games, but for the relationships he's built with them, of course again, I can only speak about the things I've heard my daughter say. I would love to see Stone work the ball more inside, however, we realized when we moved up here that Stone is more of a run and gun team. I think the lady panthers will be just fine and will make progress as the season continues. Again, believe me when I tell you this team is in good shape and will be fine by Districts and Region Tournament time.
  6. Cant really address any of the reasons for him leaving the previous schools he's been involved with because I dont know the reason. What I can say is when he coached my daughter on a summer league team, he did a very good job, maintained discipline, earned the players respect and demonstrated a sincere committment not only to the team, but to winning as well.
  7. Rumor is they have a position at the Elementary School for him.
  8. Marcum will be an asset to the Kingston Program. Tayler played for a team he coached a couple of years ago. It wasnt AAU but they played several local tournaments. I watched a bunch of their team practices and he knows what he's doing. I think Keith and him together will have a good chance at making drastic improvements. Its not fair to judge him based on the record at Scott County. From what I heard, once he got up there and started practice, several if not all the upper classman quit because he made them work for their starting positions. They didnt get their way so they quit. I think he did what a coach should do, if the players choose not to do what the coach says, put 'em on the bench. He did that and they chose to quit. If I remember correctly, the last couple of years he was playing Freshman and Sophomores. If this isnt correct, somebody please feel free to provide more details.
  9. I remember another one that quit, how about Brooke Gentry, she was a very good player. She never played for another team so I dont know the real reason behind her quitting. There have been others quit as well in the past 5 or so years.
  10. Just curious who the D1 players are, what years did they play and which D1 Schools did they play for?
  11. You're correct in the fact that I think they could have done things differently and maybe had better results, however, being that we wont be here next year, I'll just say I hope Coach Anderson gets some help and the Lady Jackets turn things around for the better.
  12. I believe Panthers are a type of Cat, maybe I'll change to CATMANDEW!! What do you think??
  13. I have to respectfully disagree with you about none of these girls could have played on a kingston team a long time ago. I'm sure you probably know who I am so I'll just say what I think, and I'll only speak about my own daughter. I think she will play at the next level, it may be DII, III or NAIA but with the number of schools that have already contacted her, I believe someone will be interested. As for the kids bad attitudes, I agree to a point, however, I believe some of these attitudes are brought on by frustration. That frustration is due to playing on a team that has continuously lost. Its tuff to stay positive when you continually lose. As for your advice in getting a teaching certificate and coaching, it appears you may be the one that should take your own advice, you seem to think you know everything thats going wrong with the program, maybe you could fix it. Just a thought
  14. A-E wins by 8 I believe in double OT. It was a great game. Stone was actually up by 18 at one point in the 3rd qtr and they let it slip away. Both teams played hard and it was ashamed someone had to lose.
  15. I'm one of the first people to say what the Lady Jackets are doing wrong and how Coach Anderson should be trying different things. Tonight, I want to say Congratulations to the Girls and Coach Anderson. They beat Scott County last night and tonight, even though they lost to A.C, I thought there were some bright spots. Didnt really see any negative attitudes, Coach Anderson made some changes to the lineup that I thought worked well for them. Megan Fritts finally got a well deserved start after showing she could play and do well with the varsity. Carlye Cole came off the bench and hit a cruical 3. And Jacklyn Givens had a very good game showing she could hit from long range. I thought the post were rotated effectively and for the most part, played well, even though they still need to get better crashing the boards. With our size, we should absolutely dominate on the boards, both offensively and defensively. Bottom line is this, if Coach Anderson and these girls look at these last two games as a positive, they can begin building a more solid foundation and by the time next season starts, we will surely win more ballgames. Again, great effort last night and tonight.
  16. Kingston lost to Stone tonight. Not a big surprise. Now that the regular season is over, a brand new season starts on Thursday night when we open up the District Tournament against Scott County. Its usually pretty tough to beat a team three games in a row, however, if the Lady Jackets get focused, they should not have too much trouble beating the Highlanders. Next will be A.C. on Friday. Even though A.C. has beat the Lady Jackets both time this season, its very possible they can pull the upset and win this game. Heres just a suggestion on how that can be accomplished: 1) Start out playing an aggressive zone Defense. Make them score from beyond the arc. If they happen to get hot then dont wait until you're down by 10 before you swithch to a man to man. 2) On offense, slow things down and go inside to your post players. A.C. wont be able to stop them if the Lady Jackets make good passes to the girls inside. 3) Reduce turnovers!!!! Dont make those long passes, especially across a zone defense. 4) Hustle, Hustle, Hustle, Hustle, Hustle, Hustle!!!!! Dont give up if you make a bad pass or a not so good shot. Regroup immediately and get back to playing ball. 5) Stay positive!!! Pump up your teammates, give encouragement, and cheer for one another. The Lady Jackets can win their first two games and end up playing Loudon to see who plays for the championship. Best of all, if they can beat Scott County and A.C. , no matter what happens against Loudon, they still go the the Regional Tournament. That would be a tremendous accomplishement for a team that struggled so much duing the regular season. It would also give a boost of confidence going into the off season and next year.
  17. The Lady Yellow Jackets have now played 26 games in the 07-08 season (thats beginning with the Hall of Fame Game against White County). If my records are correct, they're current record is 6-19. I dont want this topic to be a sounding board for bashing the players or the coach. I think for the most part, we all want to turn this program into a program that is respectable and something the girls, the coaches, the parents and the fans can be proud of. I know several parents and players read the forums on CoachT, I've been told that the Head Coach has even been on here a few times. The purpose of this post is to get the opinions of some of you that actually watch and care about the future of this team and hopefully, maybe a suggestion or two might catch the eye of a player or coach that they feel could help this team turn its program around. I'll start with my input: There are a couple girls on the bench that have seen limited time, however, when they do get the opportunity to play, they have not had the amount of turnovers that others seem to have each and every game. Maybe they should be given a little more of an opportunity to help the team. Its apparent from everyone in the gym that there are attitude problems with a few players. I heard one parent say that if you have a choice between players, one continuously displays a negative attitude but sees significantlly more playing time than the other, would you rather deal with the one with the negative attitude who appears not to even care, or the other who maynot be be as quick or aggressive, but when you talk to her, she listens and actually shows some respect and tries to accomplish what you've asked them to do. I know which one I would be playing. And my final thought, these girls dont need a bunch of plays to begin winning more games. Play 3 guards that turn the ball over the fewest times, put two post players down low and demand the guards get them the ball. We're big enough and strong enough to score if we get the ball inside. Looking forward to others input.
  18. My first suggestion would be to implement some discipline on that team. Talking back to the Coach, rolling your eyes when the Coach says something to you, hanging your head when you make mistakes and pouting, all of this would not be tolerated. The individual wouldnt come to the bench for long, it would be a short stop on their way to the lockerroom, I dont care if we had to forfeit the game because I had to send every one of the players down there. You wont have a successful team until you have respect and there is none on this team. My second suggestion would be to begin a program of getting this team in shape. If you watch them, you can see just how bad we drag down the floor ( it could be just loafing due to an "I dont care attitude"), either way, I would begin running them and for those that didnt like it, they could find another sport to play. For those that would dedicate themselves to the running, I would then place most of my emphasis on fundemental basketball, passing, catching, dribbling, etc. I think if we could do the basics, we wouldnt need all the plays they are suppose to be running. They could freelance on offensive and score better than what they do now because our turnovers would decrease over time due to better fundementals. Once we achieved this, I would begin implementing some basic offensive sets where we could run screens and backdoors, eventually getting to the point where we could implement specific plays. As for getting this stuff to the right people, I dont have a solution for that. It would take time but it would be the start of retuning Kingston basketball back to respectable.
  19. Here's some interesting numbers: Lady Jackets Winning % over the past several years: 07-08 - Approximately 24% 06-07 - Approximately 26% 05-06 - Approximately 36% 04-05 - Approximately 39% Based on their remaining schedule, they will win one more game and lose 5. Their win should be against Scott County when they meet in a "play in Game" to determine who plays in the district tournament They have a record during this time frame of 37-81 (Thats after losing to Loudon last night). Thats 37 wins out of 118 Games. Thats unacceptable. From everything I've heard things are getting worse for these girls. They're arguing with each other before, during and after the games. Nothing has changed offensively or defensively. Something to think about, the definition of insanity is "to continue to do the same thing over and over and over, and expect different results". After approximately 24 games this year and seeing the same things over and over and over again, I believe its time for this team to try something different What can it hurt??
  20. My gosh, I see you can read, not sure you comprehend what you're reading though. Did you not see the statements I made saying how good I think she is? I made several statements regarding what a good player she is, however, anybody that watched the O.S. - Kingston game, knows darn well she was falling on purpose in an attempt to draw a cheap foul. Evidently you disagree with that, thats fine, you're entitled to your opinion. Just so you dont misunderstand me again, let me make it perfectly clear, I think Kayla is a tremendous basketball player, I just dont understand why she spends so much time falling when she could be following her shot and maybe getting a second followup shot if and when she misses. As for being better than my daughter, how can you compare them, they dont even play the same position. Evidently you're one of those parents that think as long as you're scoring a bunch of points, you're the best player.
  21. Your comments are assinine!! She's a good shot but she missed quite a few against kingston and was never even touched. Thank goodness the refs didnt fall for her act. Maybe her mom should be teaching her to follow her shot instead of waxing the floor with her butt.
  22. AMEN!!! What ever happened to FOLLOWING YOUR SHOT???? Thats fundamental basketball!! If you want to spend that much time sitting on the floor, play monopoly!!! I do agree with "bigdog" though, Christopher is talented!!
  23. Kingston Lady Jackets arent losing games because they arent substituting, they lose because of a number of other reasons, example, terrible passes; when a good pass is made inside its fumbled with or dropped causing a turnover, an offense that works the ball around the perimeter with no one inside to rebound once the outside shot is taken, the shooting from outside is very inconsistent, and lack of hustle. Dont get me wrong, i believe there are a few girls on the bench that should be getting playing time, however, dont think if the coach does decide to use them, its going to change anything. In addition to the things I mention above, everything has to start with a positive attitude and thats something that has been lacking at RCHS for several years.
  24. They lost to Catholic by 8. They didnt look anything like the team that play Oliver Springs Friday night. Forced a bunch of passes, struggle catching the ball, not much enthusiasm, just back to the way they've been playing most of the past two seasons. They should win their next two games against Scott County and Rockwood, after that, it gets tough again.
  25. Kingston just turns the ball over way too many times!!!. They probably lose 20-25 offensive opportunities just because of bad passes and not catching the ball. If they would spend more time on the fundamentals of passing and catching, they would reduce their turnover margin by 50%, giving them at least 10 more shots on offense. I to saw the senior sitting away from the team and not getting up during the timeouts. After the game, people were saying her and one of the guard subs quit the team. Later I heard they were going to continue to play. There's so much confusion on this team and attitude problems, they will continue to struggle until the Coach gets control. I agree, they do have a lot of talent, but until they come together and start playing as a team, and get the attitudes fixed, its going to be the same as last year.
