  1. feels good, but it'll feel even better in november..
  2. yes, i was in attendance, and as a hillsboro fan, i get to see him almost every week. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> you should just see him face a defense inferior to MBA's as that was certainly one of his more lackluster performances over the last couple of years. he has tremendous vision and is very shifty, so against defenses that aren't as disciplined as MBA's, he'll break off at least 3-4 20+yard gains a night.
  3. good post. MBA certainly can argue they have the best D in the state. seward truly is fascinating to watch, but gordon is the best athlete on Hillsboro's team.
  4. ill gladly accept the label as a "hater", but only towards boski's mindless ranting.. as it is certainly not towards the maplewood's football team as i have tremondous respect for them. i have not said one negative thing about your team thus far, so i dont think im qualified to be a hater of the maplewood football team. notice the first thing i said in an earlier post was: "ive said all along, maplewood is the only team that stands between hillsboro and maryville". and it's humorous that you are the one saying actions speak louder than words.. cant wait for this game!!
  5. except bartholomew also runs a 4.5... you really are something boski.. you take every comment as a personal attack or a comparison to your team/players when it's simply not. i made the comment about seward running up the middle against mba and making something out of nothing in response to someone saying he is not an in between the tackles RB and to further prove my point it was against mba's tough defense who had 2 straight shutouts against antioch and independence: 2 decent 5A teams. i was not saying cantrell/simpson are not capable of such feats, that's totally irrelevant. as for reading yur past posts.. ill pass. i remember your comments from last year, and id rather spare my brain from viewing such juvenile remarks, unfortunately, i have no choice this week.
  6. ps- after friday's game at MBA, coach blade is making some personnel changes beginning this afternoon which appear to be very good, beneficial moves. it's impressive how many athletes hillsboro has and they can afford to shift/insert/cut guys in the lineup. at linebacker is where the most changes are being made, including a possible intriguing move which potentially would give hillsboro the fastest LB in the state /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  7. Seward IS an in between the tackles back, he is an everything back. in fact, it was quite fascinating watching him run it up the middle against mba, meet contact, dance around, and produce 8-10 yards out of nothing. and yall are clearly arent giving mba enough credit. their much heralded D-line was big and strong and hillsboro's O-line certainly held their own. ill agree with the statement that arent is easily rattled, quite frankly, hes been under-achieving.. that's why you should see more of Greg Young this week /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> . whoever said that mba "exposed" hillsboro and proved you can "run it down their throat" obviously did not see the game and is not familiar with mba's offense. mba's powerful running attack did not have much success, hillsboro jus gave up a few big, key runs... and this is a triple-headed rushing attack headlined by UT-committ ben bartholomew (6'3, 225). as for tieing with franklin (ps- franklin turned down coach blades attempt to reschedule the game), it was the first game for crying out loud, which means their very strong D had all summer to focus on the burros.
  8. as i said before this season, maplewood is the only team that stands between hillsboro and maryville. however, that loss against mba was not good for maplewood's sake. i believe that was a wake up call for hillsboro and they are gonna come back as focused as ever. i cannot begin to express how badly hillsboro wanted to beat mba, and to go down in such heart-breaking fashion will have this team hungrier than ever!
  9. I read this and initially thought his comments were awfully bold like you. Even though this is the underlying way of thinking amongst the hillsboro football progam this year, as a player, he probably should not have said this. That said, i wouldnt put much into this statement. he's a 16-17 year old kid who made this comment immediately after a bitter loss. the taste of defeat is not well known amongst these players and he made this comment out of spite. as a hillsboro fan, my thoughts were similar after the game, out of shock and anger i was jus telling myself "well, we're still gonna go to state" haha, so i dont blame him. as for the helmet comment, you may be right. as it is awfully difficult to tackle him anyways, jus ask MBA.
  10. outstanding hugh school football game, i honestly thought we (hillsboro) had it in the bag after the first half as the line play was even (mba was supposed to dominate hillsboro's "undersized" line). mba really turned it up the second half. hillsboro had a touchdown called back for holding which wouldve won us the game. i dont think one penalty was called against mba the whole night, as hillsboro had several crucial penalties called against them. this was a great game. congrats to mba. but hillsboro will come back strong!!
  11. correction: a couple of delusional stratford players were picking themselves to win.
  12. well, i was hoping i didnt have to quote the whole thing, but whatever. in response to the small linebackers: i cant keep up with who all is starting at LB now, but there are a few rather short players that will see time at the position. all of which are very strong to make up for size. i believe the one you are referring to is Tracey Parker (as he has started the past 2 years). Parker is about 5'7 170ish. while short, he is a ROCK. he comes at you like a bowling ball, probably the hardest hitter on defense, i know hes the last guy i would want to tackle me.. he flies to the ball and has great lateral movement. despite his height, he will have no trouble plugging up the middle with his build. i do think MBA will see some success running up the gut, but i also believe you all are underestimating the toughness of this defense.
  13. You are severely mistaken. Hillsboro would beat most 5A teams, in addition to DII teams. I hate to bring out the ol' scrimmage card, but it's the most recent basis to refer to as far as DII is concerned. The scrimmage against BA was very competitive to say the least, and yes- CJ was playing, Hillsboro matched up with them head for head, losing 3 to 4 before the game was called. Not to mention making Ensworth look like a girls squad (no disrespect) in that scrimmage. As far as 5A is concerned, look no further than the first game of the season against Franklin. Now that Franklin is 0-2, it doesn't seem quite as good that we tied them. Nonetheless, each team had all summer to prepare for each other and of course it was the first game so there were some kinks that had to be worked out. This will be a very competitive game. And I agree with others-- relatively low-scoring.
  14. Dont wanna offend any Ensworth supporters and wont give names, only answering since someone asked, but a couple of the recent transfers to hillsboro did so because they simply werent happy at ensworth. while they had friends, they simply did not like the environment, simply stated .
  15. typical first post. hey gentle, this is a football message board, with people that are generally knowledgeable of high school football. we are well aware of what is going on over at MBA. that is why they are currently picked to win on this site, with a slight margin of 50.3%. trust me, hillsboro is well aware of the threat MBA poses and will be prepared to take it on. size isnt everything, they have the strength to make up for it. MBA will not see such a dynamic offensive attack like cthis all year (not even BA, as CJ is such a big part of their offense). MBA blitzes too much for their own good which is why you will see many quick passes to athletes superior to the MBA secondary (Gordon, Jordan, Garrett), not to mention the screens to Seward. I believe MBA will find some success running it up the gut, but Hillsboro's speed on defense will not give up the big play. MBA must get off to a quick start, if they have to play catch-up, HHS's secondary will not allow any success in MBA's passing game with their athletes in the secondary. cannot wait for this matchup...
  16. BUMP, for an incredible match-up.
  17. dumbest post ive read in quite some time. maryville is a great program that has had much success in 4A. they are the best team TN has to offer and should be in the top 25. i disagree with the #5. you go to texas and their high school ball is simply on a different level, CA and FL has some too. while maryville could compete with most of those teams, i believe the top 5 teams from each of those states would beat 'em 9 times out of 10. it is awfully lofty to seriously consider them #5 in the nation. as REBEL RON stated, maryville's national ranking can solely accredited to their extensive success(win streak). but this is not unheard of in high school. Independence, NC just had their 115-game winning streak ended a week ago. Northwestern in Miami is riding a 50-game win streak in addition to putting out at least 5 D1 recruits each year. and those guys play better competition. and to even fathom the thought of alcoa in the top 50 is ABSURD. they are a quality TN team, but there are soo many great teams in this nation.
  18. lipscomb should take this with ease. their discipline will beat a raw stratford team. startford has not played good football at all this year. 'stangs by 3TDs.
  19. dudes obviously upset we beat stratford 59-7. you know nothing of the franklin situation. coach blade could not get clayton to finish the game.. considering you picked yourself by 2 or 3 TD's against us, i feel good about our chances..
  20. MBA has really surprised me this year. Ive been waiting for quite some time now for this game. and up until the past couple of weeks i thought hillsboro would put on a show.. but MBA is for real, and this ought to be a tremendous match-up with MBA's size/discipline and Hillsboro's speed/athleticism.. still on the fence, but as a fan, ill take hillsboro.
  21. as much as i would like to see hunters lane win, maplewood should take this. many people arent familiar with their talent. 28-21 maplewood in an exciting game..
  22. do you call 126 yards and 4TDs rushing shutting down?? Id say thats an awfully productive game.
  23. your ignorance is astounding. the more posts of yours i read, the lesser i think of your school (which i didnt think to poorly of stratford in the first place). your blind paranoia of "haters" is humorous. no one on these boards care enough about stratford to waste their time hating because stratford is not currently a competitive football team (ps- this a message board for football). the only "haters" you will find is possibly in rival schools, not here. the only negativity is instigated by you and your bogus comments i.e "we are the best black team, we will make the playoffs, we will finish 3rd in our region" people are simply responding to improbable comments. i believe a "hater" would be descried as one lashing out w/o any factual basis, which is not the case here. in addition, we are in the 21st century, people dont view your school as a bunch of "under-achieving, project-ridden, black kids that dont work hard and stink at football" this perception you have is awfully juvenile. in fact, most people on this board know nothing about stratford (this is a statewide site), so by you saying this, YOU are responsible for instilling these beliefs in people as they know nothing more to base judgements on. work hard on the practice field, and let your play do the talking. please, do your school's integrity a favor and leave such blasphemy off these boards. good luck on the remainder of the season.
  24. he didnt say that, he was replying to someone who said that they had the best D in the state and was disagreeing. at this point in the season, a team that has a tie and a 28-6 loss has no claim to the best defense in the state.. anywho, franklin in a close one..
  25. dunno if this was even worth making a thread.. hillsboro by however much they want.
