That's racist...and totally uncalled for. You owe the great people of Grundy Co an apology for this.

Being a great player and spending time in the NFL means very little to being a good coach. There are too many examples to list of NFL players that have been a bust when it comes to coaching. Ask Crockett County about it. I wish the coach well but he's facing a mountain to climb out of.
Been reading the TFP and of course they are trying to make it some sort of social statement which to me doesn't belong in the equation simply because it should be an issue of is he a competent coach. They even mentioned something about 2 Confederate flags flying near the school. That kind of thing cheapens this hire...not the guy's skin tone. I got the idea they(TFP) were trying to demean and mock the good people of Grundy Co. Just media trying to stir the pot. Uncalled for.

Feel free to add to the post. Things out of line won't be permitted. If you think it may be overboard, it is. Thanks.
I think this has been discussed enough. The topic now should be is this guy an interim coach or is he permanent(until fired). I would also like to know what they are paying him. Fair enough?

It's about coaching and getting kids involved and developed...Portland doesn't have that. Really numbers don't matter because quite frankly you could have a school of 2k kids and the overwhelming majority could care less about sports.

I don't know Coach Simmons but Im sure he is smart enough to play the way the talent dictates. He isn't going to play the same style he played at USJ. If he does then he deserves to be fired. However, HE WON"T. He has been around long enough to know better.

He did some good things at USJ but it's rumors of some behind the scenes stuff there that took place, also how is his style of play (cutting, running set plays) gonna mesh with a team that knows only one way to play. I hope it works or he's gonna be hired to be fired in a year.
Questionable indeed. Was at 4 schools in Florida and was gone in a year in each. At Poinciana outside Orlando and left to teach in the Florida Virtual School program. Lots of baggage with this guy.

yeah. Region 8.
I mean the entire state AAA will open up for someone else to have a chance
Someone else will emerge in Memphis...my guess Southwind will be back in the top spot and Ridgeway even though Henning should have been fired long ago for his fraudish shenanigans.

Hard pass on Matta. I'm not even sure why he's getting serious consideration at Ole Miss and Georgia. He's a solid coach, but he's had some major health concerns the past few years, which had a lot to do with his decline (and ultimate departure) at Ohio State.
Maybe but Matta is a proven coach...Hardaway isn't.

How is screaming into the student section not winning with class??? How is that comparable to a student section screaming “Levy sucks”?
You didn't read my post...I said both were bad and I complimented her on her performance and wished her luck. I know Baxter very well and I am sure they are not accustomed to that kind of display. It's just not that kind of community.

Hiring Hardaway would be a PR and recruiting coupe...and an absolute coaching disaster. They would be much better hiring Thad Mata or Tom Crean...seriously.

I just don't get into the girls game but watched anyhow because of the passion shown by both fan bases. With that said McWilliams is not someone you would want your daughter to play for but if I was into women coaching boys teams I think she could do it. The "you suck" chant was embarrassing as was this Levy girl's "primal" scream at the end of the game. She seems like a nice kid and plays hard...just win with class. Good luck to her at WKU.

Student involved in this latest situation is listed as living a mile from Brainerd High School yet goes all the way to Ooltewah. If there was control over admission of students both this and the pool stick case wouldn't have happened at Ooltewah.
Levar Brown won't put up with this kind of nonsense...maybe that is why he is at Ooltewah.

Folks,
Out of state coach from the northeast part of the country here. Tired of northeast winters and looking for making a change and looking for area in country to relocate to. Nashville keeps popping up. Would love to live in the city or close by. Any coaching openings currently there that would fit the bill? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Just a helpful hint. Nashville or surrounding areas would be more open to someone from a liberal area that you are obviously from. Some of these more rural towns won't be as open to you. I'm not being a smart aleck just stating the truth.

It is a valley school which isn't known for it's basketball but they have had some good teams in the past...thoughts?

Everyone play everyone. That way single a church league players can play real teams.
Now now...you need to get in touch with your PC side...even single A church league teams deserve a chance at a trophy.

It is what it is...if you win the last game of the season, you either were crowned state champion or you weren't very good at all. Being a district, regional, or "sub state" champion is an accomplishment to be proud of, but in the grand scheme it's just a step toward the ultimate goal. The progression actually works. There's no way to ensure that the eight that go to Murfreesboro are the best eight in the state, or that the best team wins the gold ball, but the process actually allows each team an "equal" opportunity.
Maybe that is what I am really trying to say...the 8 teams that make it to the Boro aren't necessarily the best teams.
-
Agreed 16 per class/48 total teams isnt feasible at MTSU. It would take a full week just to complete one class instead of 4 days. The schools and state wouldn't allow for that much time to be missed of class or be willing to add that much time to the end of the school year just for sports. As the days from the state tournament have to be made up and snow days etc can't replace them.
Maybe if they made each class at a different location and run them concurrent then maybe but that isn't going to happen.
That is the idea...hold it at different venues. I know it is far fetched but I just don't like the "sub state" tag...it is the first round of the state. TBCH I am not a fan of the state setup in the first place...never have been. I also think district tournaments are a joke...they should have been done away with long ago.
-
Make it a sweet 16 tournament...I've always considered the sub state, sectional or whatever you call it the first round of the state anyway so let 16 teams come to the Boro.
-
I'm not impressed with Barnes or his staff...period.

Does this kid have some Connection to Indiana St?
Why is he not going to Kentucky, Carolina, MTSU, Tennessee, any SEC team or ACC team. B1G?
Maybe they know something you don't...seriously though this kid could be one of those sleeper type players we see in the tourney in a couple of years and Jim Nantz could be asking this same question...time will tell.

Welch was outcoached Wednesday and quite honestly didn't have his team prepared...

You all played a great game. Your coach scouted us well and was prepared. As I have said all year our offense was not as strong. You all deserved to win
Class act here...
Mt Juliet vs Lebanon will this be the year
in Class 5A & Class 6A

Lebanon has never really been a "powerhouse"...if you mean the Medley years those kids played hard and overachieved but would hardly qualify as powers...Medley played a weak schedule with Riverdale being his only test...he usually managed to choke against Gallatin and in the playoffs.
