  1. Last year we took a team down made up of Williamson County wrestlers, Team Wilco. We are trying to do that again but doesn't look like we will have enough. Changing to Team Mid TN. We need to determine if we can field a team. We are having practice right now but for anyone interested please contact me either by phone, email or text. We will have practice tomorrow night @ 7:30 at Independence if you can make it. Tomorrow night after practice we will make a final decision on whether or not we can field a team. We will also plan to practice a couple more time this week and 3 times next week (M, Tu, Th). Tournament is March 12th and 13th. Cost will be around $100 per wrestlers (hotel, shirt and entry fee included). They will also need a USA wrestling card. If interested please contact me asap. Thanks! Question, please let me know, thanks!

  15. Josh Peck is right, Joe had very detailed plans on how it was going to work here and had counter points for concerns the TSSAA would have. The whole reason for the move was to get double elimination and it worked. The WCS schools have done well with the tournament and I can't thank coach Blair enough for all his hard work he put it and is still putting in. If it does move make sure you know who is going help run it because moving it to Nashville or the Boro or where ever, you will need to have those schools on board to help with workers and mats. My opinion, things are not nearly as bad as EVERYONE is making it out to be. Regardless I don't mind if it staying or goes, if it goes somewhere else, less work for WCS. The sky is not falling, TN is moving forward in a good direction. We would all love to see a combination of a UFC event and the NCAA tournament and that is going to be hard to do at this level and in this state at this time.
  16. We will have a full list of technicians by the end of the week.
  17. Cumberland has things headed in the right direction, I suggest getting your guys involved!
  18. We have about half the technicians lined up, finalizing the rest, didn't want to promise anything before it was finalized. Coach Eslinger at chat said he would come down plus All-Americans I wrestled with in college. We will have QUALITY people showing technique. Coach Nicola, I was getting ready to contact you tomorrow!
  19. Going to get former wrestlers that have had success plus college guys and coaches from UTC and Cumberland. Other area guys that live in the area that have had success at the next level.
  20. Haven't lined all the technicians up yet but should be good. Technique will be up to instructors and kids signed up. If majority want freestyle, then that is what we will do. The more participants we get the better it will be for everyone.
  21. Each Wednesday starting March 26th and for the following Wednesdays through May 14th, Independence High School will host league wrestling that will consist of 45 minutes technique session, followed by 2 hours of live matches. Wrestlers will arrive, check in and then weigh in each evening. The first 45 minutes will be technique and our plan is to get a different technician from around the area and across the state to come in and teach. After the 45 minutes of technique, we will pool the kids together and get each wrestler 2-3 live matches on three mats. We will end each evening at 9 pm. Wrestlers DO NOT have to show up for the technique session in order to wrestle in the live matches. They must however show up no later than 6:30 to check in so match ups can be setup by 7 pm. I strongly feel this will be a great opportunity for our guys to get some mat time and instruction on a weekly basis for a very low cost. 23. Former TN wrestler McCoy Newberg is currently wrestling 174 for the university of Nebraska as a redshirt freshmen. He is behind returning all-American Robert Kokesh(3rd). Although behind a stud McCoy is having a great year. With 2 tournaments left on his schedule he already has a 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th at tournaments! He has a season record of 24-9. Not too bad, and getting to drill with Burroughs every once in awhile. Just wanted to let others know about another one of our TN boys having success at the next level. Go Big Red!!!!
