  1. I missed this post...Did you walk in with a blonde last night...????
  2. Glad to see you made it out of there ShaniaGuy. The boys played well but the turnovers and missed shots in the 4th let the rangers get back in it. And Rusty made the shot. That's all we can say about it. Unaka played for the last possesion and made the shot. I was thinking about it on they way home. We had 3 pretty talented sophmores on the court at the end of the game last night. With next year's senior leadership coming from Walker & Young and a talented freshman class The Eagles will the the team to beat next year again. c'mon blueagle give us another hint about who you are...
  3. This post was brought to the attention of The Cosby Administrators and they have asked me to respond: 1- ""An announcement was made before the game on the time of the state playoffs for the winning team. Before the game was completed, another announcement was made, informing the spectators of the game. How inconsiderate!"" response: This announcement was in no way meant to be inconsiderate or rude. The game was already decided when this announcement was made. It was only made at the very end of the game because The Cosby Administrators realized that some fans would be leaving a few minutes early and once the celebration started, some people might miss the time/date. Also The Cosby Administrators made the announcement as soon as they found out the exact time/ date of the 1st round state game. If it would have been possible to announce at halftime or between quarters I'm sure The Cosby Administrators would have preferred that. When someone made a comment "Oh, how rude" The Cosby Administrators spoke to the Hancock fans and explain what I posted above. I was told the two parties ended up shaking hands after things were explained. 2- Oh, by the way, aren't the guest team in a substate game required to get at least half the tickets and seating? response: The Cosby Administrators called Hancock and asked how many tickets they needed. Hancock told The Cosby Administrators 250 should be plenty. In fact, less than 250 were sold by Hancock. Also it was not a sell-out, tickets were available at the door. The Hancock fans were also provided ample room behind their girl's bench. They had plenty of space available ( and we were packed in like firewood). The Cosby Administrators have made every effort to treat Hancock County High School with class and respect. You will not meet a more fair and honest men than the gentlemen that run Cosby High School. I am proud to say my wife works there and she couldn't ask for better administrators. The Hancock fans who read this probably have made up their minds about what happened at the game but I hope the fans of other teams will read this and realize what the situation actually is.
  4. To Kevin Hall and Kent Black: I can't describe how much I've enjoyed watching you two play these past few years. Keep your heads up, you both played great this year and you won a lot of big games. Good Luck in Whatever you decide to do next year. I'm proud of you both. For the rest of The Eagles (that's right only 2 seniors) work hard this summer and we'll get 'em next year. I would like to talk about this game except for the last 3.0 (or 1.8) seconds. Both teams played their butts off. Cosby had Unaka's backs to the wall all night long. Tied at apx 2:00 min. but The Eagles couldn't score. Unaka was able to run the clock down, get a timeout and Chambers hit the basket of his career. As for the end of the game, I would love to hear everyone's comments about that whole mess. I need to clear my head and calm down before I post about it. I will say, ShaniaGuy I can't believe what you had to put up with tonight. 1st of all, they wouldn't even give you a chair. That was classless and Randy S. described how you were assaulted (yes, that's right ) by the clown beside of you. His actions and clock operation were inexcusable. I wish I would have made sure you got out OK but I didn't think until I was in the Jeep. Let us know what was going on...
  5. Well, I'm getting ready to leave for my trip to the creek. Let's hope it's a close, hard fought game that the players decide. Good Luck to both teams. see ya there, JF, shaniaguy, portvol, EagleEye, volleyEagle and the rest of The Eagle Nation.
  6. Call the school in the morning Loco. Cosby always sells advance tickets during the school day. Actually the hancock vs Cosby boys substate sold out in 48 minutes last year.
  7. Actually, It's not "as far out" as I thought the school would be from hearing all the talk. I've been to several schools that are more remote. I know a few people at Cosby so I'll get a ticket at 10:01. I'm guessing I'll be there between 5-6. I might have to bring in a book and relax on the comfy bleachers for a while. PortVol are you going through G-ville or up the interstate..?? I think it's closer going the G-ville/J-City route.
  8. The times I've been to Hancock I haven't been treated with much courtesy either. Cosby fans have a long memory. Treat us with poor sportsmanship at your home and you'll get it back at The Eagle's Nest.
  9. Yeh, that's a pretty tough draw. But we are so proud of these young ladies no matter what the outcome is Wednesday. The Lady Eagles got off to a 2-6 start but got it together for a 18-4 finish down the stretch. Way to go girls.
  10. I'm glad somebody mentioned "my hero" Timmy Blakely. He plays so mature and so smart for a player so young. I've enjoyed watching him this year and can't wait to see him play the next two. He has a good sophmore & freshman class he'll be playing with as well. Blakely is a fine young man. He really has his head on straight and does works hard in the classroom like he does on the court.
  11. The Cosby Lady Eagles are Statebound...!!! Cosby 69 Hancock 45
  12. It's interesting the way TSSAA has it set up. The region finals are really the 1st round of the state tournament. The 8 losers are in what could be called a loser's bracket and have to travel. So it's really a 16 team format hosted by the region winners in the "1st round". The winners of the "2nd round" advance to the 'Boro and play single elimination. It's a big advantage to win and play the sub-state at home but Mondays games are the only ones that really matter. Oh yeh, I say chill out snake too. I liked reading about how another state plays their tourny.
  13. This should be a great game. The last meeting at Cosby was a battle. I gotta go with The Lady Eagles getting the win at home tonight. They are playing great right now and The Eagle's Nest will be rockin'.
  14. Are a certain number of tickets being reserved for the visitors or sold at Cosby..?? Isn't it a TSSAA rule that requires this......pasted from another thread: When will tickets go on sale at Unaka and when will the gates open..?? TSSAA Rules for Sectional Games: Tickets and Passes All tickets are general admission and are priced at $6.00. TSSAA will furnish the tickets. Return all unsold tickets to TSSAA. The visiting team shall have the opportunity to receive 50% of the tickets. Money or unsold tickets must be returned to the host school no later than 5:00 p.m. the day of the game. TSSAA Identification Cards, Officials Registration Cards, College Coaching and Scouting Cards, and TACA Cards will not be accepted as passes. (Each member school has been mailed two tickets.) SID Cards will be accepted Each participating team has 25 tickets which are to be used for admitting players, managers, coaches and other school officials.
  15. yeh, The Eagles did a lot of falling tonight caused by that gym floor.... Both teams played on the same floor, its not like Rockwood practices on that wet surface. I don't think it would have changed the games outcome to much, Cosby just didn't seem to be hitting the shots they usually do. But don't be down your season is still alieve. Good luck with Unaka. Thanks for the good luck wishes....It's true both teams had to battle the elements. I guess I'm just venting tonight. I just don't like to lose But I still don't think the "cleanup" was handled timely or fairly. And a lot of calls were made and not made because of the conditions. But a team can't score only 15 points in the 2nd half and expect to win. Better a loss tonight than earlier in the week though. I think we've got a good chance at Unaka. Coach Flatford will have them ready. I may have to keep the computer off till Monday night so I don't have to read the Ranger fans posts.
  16. yeh, The Eagles did a lot of falling tonight caused by that gym floor....
  17. I may be mistaken, maybe somebody can correct me but the last time Cosby hosted both we lost to Alcoa in the district and region finals. We ended up playing at Hancock and lossing by one. This was '99..?? For a few years before that it was the "real" sectional format when we made the 4-in-a-row run. Blakely had 3 great games during the tournament. PortVol, may be able to get his stats but I think he deserved it. (of course) It is unusual to see an MVP from a lossing team though. Tonight's game was very strange. It seemed like a different Eagle team came out in the 2nd half. And also a different set of refs. Man, we got some tough calls. The admin. at Rockwood should be embarrassed about the condition of the court tonight. I haved watched basketball for a long time and I've never seen players falling and slipping this bad. And the way the toweling/ sweeping was handled was obviously to favor the home team. They were cleaning the Rockwood offensive side while the game was being played. After the game, I took a close look at the floor and couldn't believe the condition. Cosby's floor is clean enough to eat off before every game and this floor looked like it hadn't seen a mop in weeks. Now, I don't want to take anything away from the tigers. They had a good 2nd half. But the homecourt advantage was huge. Hancock might want to send a crew with mops Monday to clean that floor and turn down the heat.
  18. It is often part of an Assistant coaches "job" to deal with things like crowd control etc. Coach Coggins does a great job. He was only defending his players. We have a group of fans and students who always sit behind our bench. Sorry Wartburg was put out by Cosby AGAIN but don't come on here complaining about one of the best assistants in East TN. Cosby isn't bush league. They're still playing and you'll be at the house tonight.
  19. Yeh, that's an interesting way to support your team. Hiding behind a keyboard and insulting other teams fans. By look out, I only meant The Eagles #1 fan will have The Cosby Nation and The Eagles fired up and ready to play tonight.
  20. I was very polite with my explanation to her questions regarding "who does this guy think he is" and didn't resort to name calling. I guess the mods deleted both posts to try to keep the topic about the game. Do you have any idea when the gate will open...??? I hope the refs let the players decide it tonight. There will be some good individual match-ups. The inside game and rebounds should be a big factor. And good/mistake free guard play will be vital. It will be interesting seeing how CoachK attacks the Cosby offense. Cosby's young bench is stepping it up during the tournament and it's amazing how deep Rockwood is. I don't think the croud will rattle The Eagles. They've played in some big games in hostile enviroments this year.
  21. He's in their heads now......Look out Rockwood...!!!
  22. Wow, I just had my 1st deleted post on CoachT. I only hope penny was able to read it.
  23. Just like her brother once Sheena Coggins crosses half court she is in range. I am so proud of these girls. They started out 2-6 but have won the last 6 in a row. So many of the games this year have come down to heart, hustle and desire. The Cosby Lady Eagles have A Lot of all three. Way to Go Girls...!!!
  24. Well, I really didn't want to play Rockwood at home but I'm glad Harriman got sent to the house. After the tourny at Midway last year that team is on "my list" My 1st look at Rockwood tonight. Does Coach always play that many players...??? The tigers have a lot of talent. What a crowd..Have the cops asked fans to sit down before tonight.? I hope it's a great game. Myself and Mrs. Cosby Eagle will be making the trip one more time. Just want to add how proud I am of these young men and young women. A lot of games this year have come down to heart and desire and Cosby has proved that they have a gym full of both. Good Luck to both teams tom. and Monday night.
