Milan had quite a week. Swept Lexington, Dyersburg, and OC. Milan has to be considered the strongest team in the district at this point and with the status of Roney up in the air (hopefully she will have a swift and full recovery) who knows how it all plays out. Although there are no bad teams in this district , Milan, on paper, has the easiest schedule left of the "big four". If Milan just does what they are supposed to do then by the time they see Westview again they could very well have the regular season championship in the bag, along with the all important first round bye in the District tournament. Admittedly, there is still a lot of basketball left to be played.
  2. Good points and I agree with your assessment of Roney and Poston. There is more than one player in Milan , however, and Gray and Carter , in particular, have been stepping up lately. I think if Milan plays the proper defense on Obion, like they did briefly the first meeting, then Milan pulls it off. I think Coach Volbert pulls out all stops this time. I do very much admire Obion Central and their tenacity but I think Milan rises to the occasion Fri night. This is arguably the biggest game for the Milan program in several years.
  3. Milan continues to win ugly. Obion Central seems to play very consistently. In my opinion, Milan at their best is better than Obion at their best but Milan rarely plays a complete game while Obion Central appears to often play at a high level. Lately, when the game is on the line i.e. Westview, Lexington, and Dyersburg, Milan does enough. I predict they do enough Friday night. Milan by 5.
  4. Milan travels to Dyersburg tonight. Milan won the first match but Dyersburg was without Hollaway. This past Saturday Milan avenged their earlier loss to Lexington and played their best quarter of the year in the final quarter. Predictions?
  5. Poston had 21. Milan was less than 50% from the free throw line. Something like 17 of 37. Poston was about 4 of 11. If not for poor free throw shooting Milan would have won by 10ish in regulation even though they didn't play particularly well. They played well in spurts but seemed to relax and lose focus at the start of the 4th quarter. Milan was up 38 to 28 after three and it was tied 45 to 45 at the end of regulation.
  6. Undefeated in the district, I should have said.
  7. If Milan does win then Milan, Westview, and Obion will all have one district loss. It's going to be real interesting how this district plays out. Milan has been winning but not playing that well. This time last year they fell apart while the competition inproved. Still...... Milan by 3.
  8. Milan travels to undefeated Westview on Tuesday night. Can Milan pull this out?
