  1. Yes, it's one admission for all day. You pay $5.00 and you get your moneys worth. The Dyer Co. and Humboldt game could be close for awhile, but I don't see Humboldt being able to run with Dyer Co. the whole game. Milan is going to have it pretty tough. They struggled with Peabody and will most likely get blown out against Bolivar. The matchup that I want to see is Bolivar v. Dyer Co. As for the GC girls, they have 2 games left against teams that pose a threat during the regular season. We play Westview @ Westview and play Obion Co. @ GC. We've already beat them once, both by double digits. Thanks again. I don't see the Gibson County Girls being challenged until Murfreesboro...I guess they could have an off night. Not likely. I saw the Milan boys the other night and they were fun to watch...Diving all over the place. Some good athletes. Hopefully they can hang for awhile....
  2. Thank you. I appreciate that. I'll be coming in from out of state at some point. One more question: Is it one admission for all day or are they emptying the gym this year and having two sessions? Thanks in advance. Dyer Co. and Humboldt Boys looks like an entertaining game....My main interest is in Milan boys. I wish the Gibson Co. girls had some competition...Really, no fun watching them at this level although I would like to see them at least once this year.
  3. I am not finding many results from yesterday. Can someone post the schedule for tomorrow or point me toward it?
  4. The most striking difference to me between the teams in the championship game and the consolation game is the fitness level of the players. Both Westview and Gibson Country are extremely physically fit; I have never seen a player with a motor like Heather Butler. My impression of the Gibson County performance is that it was the strongest game I have seen played by a girls team in the last several years. Westview did not play that poorly; Gibson County was just relentless.
  5. I'm coming in from out-of-state for this one.
  6. Bianca Thomas is tied for top scorer on Ole Miss this season. Holloway from Dyersburg red-shirted last year and has played in every game this year, starting 7 games out of 19. She is really coming on lately having led the team in rebounding 5 of the last 10 games, starting the last 4. Thomas is a junior and Holloway a freshman.
  7. I have been checking the box scores and haven't seen Luke Postoak listed yet. Is he playing this year? Injured?
  8. Thanks for the info. I love the Christmas tournament. Almost always some upsets. Looking forward to seeing all the teams especially Gibson Co and the fun and gun Bulldogs.
  9. Thank you! I am actually out of the state at this time and don't have access to the local papers. That will get me started and I can find out the rest when I get to town. One more thing I failed to ask. It is in Milan this year?
  10. Can someone give me, or point me to, the schedule for the tournament this year? Specifically, for Friday. I can find out the rest when I get there.
  11. ......and you are cracking us up at your inability to understand the English language. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. Thanks to the previous posters. Hopefully, Milan will win Friday night and I will get to see my 1st game at Johnny Hale stadium this year on Nov. 21. Go Bulldogs!!
  13. No disrespect intended but merely a what if question from an out of state traveler trying to make plans: If Milan wins and JCS wins will the game be in Milan? I recall that a few years ago there was a rule in place that if you played a team from your same region, then the higher seeded team became the home team regardless of the side of the bracket the teams came out of. I understand that if Huntingdon wins the game, then whoever they play will travel to Huntingdon.
  14. It was sad to see the Obion seniors running off the floor for the last time. Those girls have given us fanatics a lot of great basketball over the last 4 years. Best wishes to all the seniors of Obion and thanks for the memories.
  15. I thought DC came out and played very well defensively to start the game I don't think Milan was really "sluggish" either, they just took a little time to make adjustments. Coach Volbert called a timeout shortly into the 2nd quarter and after that it was all Milan. Hamm and Joyner made a bunch of terrible passes that led to turnovers throughout the game. If not for that, it would have been much worse. Glenn was a beast inside and Q played well also. The seniors played well. I think the key to Milan/GC is not how Gray handles the press, she will be fine, but how well Hamm and Joyner handle it and also, how well Milan's big girls handle the more physical play of the GC inside players. I have seen Glenn, in particular, appear intimidated at times this year against the more physical players.
  16. No doubt Poston has the most talent but she is not even the MVP of Milan. IMO Gray is clearly the MVP this year for the Bulldogs. . At the first of the year I assumed Roney would be District MVP and she is still my favorite player in the district, but my vote, if I had one, would go to Gray for District MVP based on what I have seen.
  17. As for Northside, the last three years I have been hearing the same things about them, pretty much, soft schedule, several from 13AA should beat them etc..... and for the last three years they advanced and left a good 13AA team in their wake. Don't get me wrong. I am all for 13AA but I would not want to have to play Northside in the regions.
  18. Early on it looked like it would be a blowout by Obion Co. Milan made a little run right before the half to cut the lead. Poston's three pointer to start the second half was huge. Milan executed a play to end the third quarter as well as I have ever seen them execute, with Glenn getting a lay up with 1 sec to go to tie the game. Joyner played well the whole game but her response to the cheap-shot elbow to the face (What constitutes a flagrant foul if this wasn't one?) was inspiring. In fact, all of the Milan players on the floor came to check on her and that incident seemed to strengthen their resolve to win. The key to the game was the Milan defense in the second half and I give Coach Volbert credit for making adjustments and getting the players to execute down the stretch.
  19. No, he is no longer the baseball coach. I am not sure why he gave it up but he had been at it for a long time. As far as I know, he is still coaching the golf team.
  20. I agree with Tightwad on the competence of Joyner. I have watched many games over the last several years and in my opinion, Donny Joyner is the best referee in the area. Along that line, I see people on the side I am usually sitting on that howl at every call against our team. I am sure it is that way with every team's fans. There are always those who are unable to be objective about the referee's calls and I will admit that I am sometimes one of them.
  21. At what point, after several years now of underachieving, is the problem not the girls, but the Coach? That's an honest question and not meant to kick the Coach when he is down but I have been watching this team for several years and they consistently underperform. Is the Coach not ultimately responsible and if not, why not? I have seen all of the top teams in 13AA on multiple occasions over the last few years and it seems to me that I never see the lack of effort that is often displayed by Milan out of Obion, Dyersburg, Westview, or Gibson County. They may be up or down in talent but they seem to play hard and for the most part, fundamentally sound. Also, why is it that the Milan coach has no assistants, not even a statistician, whereas all the other teams have several people on the bench helping. Take Gibson County for instance. Coaches McMillan, McMillan, Russell, and the statistics guy. I noticed two assistants, at least, on the Westview bench last night. You can't help but wonder what the other top coaches in the district would have been able to achieve with the Milan talent over the last several years. If I am out of line here, could someone please explain to me what I am missing? Is the talent in Milan just overated? Is the Coach doing the best anyone could do with what he has to work with?
  22. They did do a good job on Vaughn. They are just too quick for Milan. Milan, regardless of the score, really didn't play that poorly. Dyer Co. is just that good.
  23. Was I wrong about this game!? Milan 70-46. Dyer Co kept it close till about 30 then it was all Milan after that. Dyer Co shot about 20 3's. The puzzling thing was that they played man on man until the 4th quarter. Gray consistently beat it and Poston played harder than we have seen in awhile on both ends. Milan played 1-3-1, which they do well, but Dyer Co was bombing from out to 25 feet. They probably hit about 8 of them but that was not nearly enough since Milan scored at will.
  24. I don't know much about Dyer Co. other than their good record and the fact that they played Gibson Co. close at Gibson Co. on Tuesday this week. I saw Obion dominate Milan on Tuesday night. Milan can actually win against a good team whether Poston shows up or not as evidenced vs. Dyersburg last week. Poston played hard about a quarter that night and Milan played just about as well with as without her. It shouldn't take long for the other teams to figure out that the key to beating Milan this year is stopping the true Milan MVP, Gray, from penetrating. I predict that Dyer Co. wins in a mild upset.
