  1. We are and have looked at that, but with being such a new team, with such little interest, it's a little bit of a financial burden to commit to the NCWA this year, especially with their season ending soon. We are building the team and hoping to get it connected to the NCWA in the few next years and be able to compete with teams throughout the southeast, but right now we are looking to just get mat time this season for some newer guys without committing to one organization right now.
  2. I'm a student at the University of Alabama, former wrestler for a school in Chattanooga, and secretary of the new Alabama wrestling club team. We are desperately trying to find any open tournaments around the southeast that we can compete in. We are a small team, just getting organized, couple of new guys, so we aren't really ready for dual matches and team tournaments, so we are looking around for any open tournaments that would let college students come and compete in. I didn't know if there were any around here, but I knew if there were, there would be some people on this board that would know about them. I've searched some sites, but haven't searched that extensively. Thanks for any information for helping a new program get started!
  3. "You dont wanna hurt the guy, but you do wanna make him hurt."
  4. I know that CCS' coach has also written a proposal letter to the TSSAA.
  5. They set the tone early, but it didn't too much good. Good fight by CCS.
  6. Monday Night Scoreboard Notre Dame 10 East Ridge 7 CCS 3 Marion Co. 1 Marion Co. vs East Ridge; 4:30 (EST) CCS vs. Notre Dame; 7:30 (EST) (Both games @ Sequatchie County)
  7. Should be some good baseball come Monday.
  8. How about them Chargers? Taking care of business. Still a long way to go, but the team seems to be coming together at the right time.
  9. I agree fully, that was pretty weak on DB's part. Not to start anything, just a little disappointing. It would have been a good match up.
  10. CCS hit the ball well with 14 hits. Check score above, I updated with some stats.
  11. The Granby Systems Camps are amazing. Period. There is one in Chattanooga this year hosted by Chattanoga Christian School. Limited room. Granby System TN Camp
  12. CCS 11 Red Bank 2 Stats: CCS 14 Hits 1 Error Triples: Landon Gray(1) Doubles: Hutcherson(1), T. Smith(1), Blevins(1), Davenport(1) Red Bank 4 Hits 3 Errors Notre Dame 13 CCS 7 Stats: CCS 8 Hits 3 Errors Sam Pineda 3-3 with 1 RBI Notre Dame 9 Hits 2 Errors Same Eberle - HR.
  13. I really beg to differ. There are tons of reasons why CCS lost the games it did, but ballhogs were not the main problem for the Chargers.
  14. He's going to Chattanooga State Middle College (I think thats what its called.) He wont be playing for CCS.
  15. I don't recall the name, but I thought it was a homeschooled kid from Chattanooga. Don't quote me on that though. I just remember a big Chattanooga Times Free Press article on the kid.
  16. Ahh. My dad was a little earlier in 72. But he's a dentist down in Red Bank and sees different wrestlers and wrestling coaches from many schools. Gimme a shout if the room is open anytime during the summer for open mat, would love to stop by. My dad tried to get me to wrestle for the longest time and I didn't listen until last year, but then my season got cut short only 8 matches in with a broken wrist, so this year was basically my first year. I got a twin brother that had a taste of wrestling, but didn't want to put the time it took to become a true wrestler, so he got out early the summer we both started.
  17. Nice. I have a baseball game that weekend. I didn't notice it on the schedule until my mom pointed it out. It tore me up. But I should be able to go to one of the AAU tournaments on March 17th. And seeing as you are an old Red Bank Lion, what year did you graduate? My dad was a former Lion and a wrestler at that. Never know how small the world is til you ask.
  18. That's exactly my plan. I hope to see ya'll next year at 135. I haven't decided yet though. Me and Coach are gonna discuss it, and see how much we want me to bulk up and see what weight I wanna go. I am planning 135 as of now. I'll probably be wrestling that throughout the summer too.
  19. Henley is truly a beast. He's a cousin to someone on our team, and I've talked with him a good bit here and there. It's great to hear JT did well at the tournament. I didn't get to catch any of the tournament until the finals, but I kept up with his matches on TSSAA.org. What weight is he looking at next year?
  20. List any and all Spring/Summer wrestling tournaments (Freestyle, Greco, anything). Be sure to include any and ALL information you have on the tournament. I know theres the "Upcoming Tournaments" thread, but it doesn't seem to be used very often except for a place to discuss other issues. I'm ready to stop discussing this past year and get ready for next year so lets hear about all these tournaments.
  21. Props to Rhea County wrestler Jacob Henley. He exceeded alot of expectations set for him in the tournament.
  22. Are you saying take the 14 state champions from each weight and each division and put them on a team and then have a dual meet with the opposite division? If thats what you're saying, that would be a great idea. Not sure it would ever happen (like said before), but it would be the best way to go.
