  1. Thank you for the kind comments about Ryan and our family situation. Today I was able to get out of my room and get on the internet and look around some and came upon this post while I was looking for the results from today's state. Ryan and I had our surgery on May 5 and it went incredibly well. Many times it takes maybe a day or two to even up to a couple of weeks for a new kidney to really start functioning; Ryan's began to work immeidately and has been working great since. Our doctor was amazed at how well it worked. He is recovering well, still a little sore, stiff, and slow moving. I am also doing well. I am having some problems with the antirejection drugs, but that is nothing uncommon and my dr. is confident everything will be dialed in within a few weeks. I will get my staples out late this week and I'll need to remain in the area for quite a while until we are sure there are no problems with rejection. Ryan plans to be back home by June 3 so he can take some summer classes at UTC and get caught up. Our family is so thankful for all of the thoughts and prayers from home. I can't even put into words here or anywhere else how I feel about Ryan and what he has done for me. I love my boy.

  5. I talked with Coach Henry and he said that he spoke with Coach Blair and the Brentwwod is not on the same weekend as the Soddy Invitational. Brentwood is the following weekend.
  6. Mr. House, Thank you very much for the kind words about Mikey; I'll pass them on. I'm proud of Mikey; he is a good boy and he has been fun to raise. Why did we move Mikey up? He wasn't wrestling very well at 140. His last few matches at 40 he looked very sluggish and slow-footed. Mikey never complains about anything so most people didn't know that he was cutting a fair amount of weight to make 140, about 17 pounds. During the summer he wrestled 145, 152 and 160. He also had some issues at home that had been weighing heavily on Mikey's mind and not making things any easier for him. Steve and Shane came to me with the idea of moving him to 152 and I agreed with them. We talked about it with Mikey and let him make the final decision. Mikey wrestled better during the last three or four weeks of the season than he did all year at 140. Plus, he was happy, smiling, and enjoyed those last few weeks. He also trained harder. I'm heart-broken for Mikey and I wish that he won the match, but he didn't and I am no less proud. Trevor Fuller
  7. The Soddy Daisy Invitational will be held on Jan. 10 next season. We are sure that this weekend will be the permanent home for our tournament from this point forward after getting assurances from our AD. We could have had it at our wrestling gym any weekend we wanted, but we like having the option of the jv and varsity tournaments being done at the same site and using 5 or 6 mats to get the tournament finished in a reasonable amount of time. Please contact me or Coach Henry if your team in interested in coming. trev054@aol.com 423-243-8868 xwrist@aol.com 423-240-7444
  8. I had to laugh when I looked through here and saw that someone called Shane Turner out by name and even mildly suggested that he doesn't know how to develop wrestlers, young or otherwise. I can only surmise that the person making this statement either doesn't know Shane, is jealous of what he is capable of doing, or is an idiot. Maybe all three apply, I don't know. Shane coached my kids from kinder through college and my only regret is that I don't have one more kid in the house to wrestle for him. Shane has been much more than a coach to not only my kids, but countless others. AN unusually high number of those kids eventually became colege wrestlers, all-americans, state champs, region champs, etc. Shane is passionate, intense, boisterous, and sometimes brash. Don't ask him what he thinks unless you are ready for his honest opinion. But he is also a mentor to the kids. I always see him asking kids about their grades and reminding them to be models of good character off of the mat. As far as wrestling is concerned, he is a complete student of the game. If you are a wrestler and visit his home you won't be able to leave without watching some kind of video and talking wrestling. Recently Shane went out of his way to hunt me down to get one of his kids help with reading comprehension because the kid was struggling in school and wanted to help him. And you say that all Shane teaches is a cowcatcher?..lol I could go on and on, but I won't. Just understand that alot of people across the state who have read your statements about Shane are laughing at you right now! -Trevor Fuller
  9. There was an article in today's paper concerning weight management. In the article it says that Tennessee coaches have never sent in a proposal to go to anything substantially different. That's not really true. I have submitted a proposal every year since weight management started based on what coaches want after our state meeting at the state tournament.
  10. Turbo Smith from SD placed 5th. He lost his semi match by 1 point and lost his conso semi in 2nd overtime on a 3rd caution. I think he did well considering he was in the emergency room 2 nights prior with walking pneumonia. Congrats to Turbo on a good tournament and to Campbell for winning. Both kids are very hard workers.
  11. I didn't get to see the match, but I think Cleveland probably won that match this summer. The Cleveland kids worked hard all summer and it's paying off. I'm not saying that the Ooltewah kids didn't work hard, because they do. We have some kids in our room that could learn a thing or two by following that lead. Congratulations Heath and company on a nice win.
  12. Just a reminder to have all varsity and jv rosters in by noon on Wednesday Dec. 5.
