Eric Volbert ?
That would be a great pick-up in my opinion! He did a great job when he was at Milan... I can't believe they are taking this long! Gibson County has already been settled so I can't imagine what the hold up is with S. Gibson...

Indy basketball coach Jeremy Moore is headed to LaVergne to be their new athletic director. http://www.williamsonherald.com/home?id=79993
Good luck to Jeremy! It was unfortunate a few years ago that he did not receive more support when he was there! He will do a great job!

BABABABABA is an idiot.....Mitch will be fine in a community that cares about basketball. This could be a great fit. He has the same enthusiasm for basketball that the state championship coaches before at Gibson Co have had. He will work the girls extremely hard, and Gibson Co girls, unlike (most)Henry Co boys will understand what it takes to win state championships, as they all have seen it 2 times in the last 4 years. Getting kids to wanna play basketball will not be an issue for him like it was in Henryland. Good luck to Coach Wilkins at GC in every game except the ones against Westview ...
Great post! Very well stated, I couldn't agree more! That was the one thing I noticed from afar here. You just can't compete with football and win in henry county. Not saying you can't win games, just that basketballs not nearly as important as football in the community. You notice that from the crowds being 5 times larger at every game. I imagine that will only get worse now with the championship. But all that said, hchs has a tremendous football program and are a well oiled machine. The school has built that thing to be successful with 11 coaches on staff and football class weight training year round. (even during basketball season)
I too think Mitch will do well at gchs and wish him the best of luck! He has a great passion for the game and is an excellent teacher/motivator...

Just received an offer from Duke.
Would be a great choice for him as he will actually "learn" a lot at duke to give him a shot to get to the next level.
-
Any truth to him moving to Clarksville this summer? I hope this is purely rumor as I look forward to seeing his d.c. Team play next year.... Just some thing I heard going around the aau circuit
-
It's official... Mitch Wilkins has been hired at Gibson County. Great pickup for them! Quick history for those of you not familiar with his name: Past 6 years he has been at Henry county and turned that program around leading them to host their first ever home region game. Before that he was in MO for the majority of his career and has taken teams to the final 4 on 5 different occasions. He knows what it takes to win and will do a very good job there!
-
Hires have been made. Names not released
Just heard a name for the Gibson County job for someone who has supposedly been offered. If he accepts he will be a tremendous hire for that program! Still haven't heard anything about South Gibson though....
-
Still no word on this position? Doesn't school end in a week or two? If I was an administrator I believe I would be aiming to make a hire before summer begins so my team could get work in during June. If anyone knows any insights please share...
-
I thought it was just the girls job that was open.
You are correct! I thought it was a boys position but found out it was girls. Sorry for the confusion... Got some bad information...
-
Has anyone been hired yet for South Gibson Boys Basketball? Anyone know anything about this job?
-
What's up with Liberty's schedule on here? I tried to look to see who their next match-up etc, but it says something about boivar MO. and a forfeit game

first of all you are clearly not from "franktown" as nobody is talking about Independence over here. They have their top scorer back, good, but they are still just as always: decent. They are not even one of the top 2 teams in their district, and they would get crushed by any of those 10 teams. So please don't get on here and act like you are from Franklin, you are clearly an Indy fan who wants some attention for a lackluster program.

Did john hudson play for dyer co.? Last I heard he was hurt. If dc played bartlett at full strength and lost, id be worried. If dc was without a player or two, this loss doesn't hurt as bad.
Hudson has been battling a sore ankle I believe??? But either way it's a good win for Bartlett. I mean it's not like Dyer County only has one kid that can play. Everyone they run on the floor would start for most high school teams. Hudson or no Hudson, there's no reason to be worried though. I mean honestly guys, it's the first game of the season, you don't always play your best every night, especially early in the year. If you're already getting worried, you may have an ulcer by Xmas. Ha

Who cares until they actually start getting in the process

IT SHOULD BE COACH VOSS. COME ON MRS. VICK, CANVAS THE COMMUNITY AND YOU WILL SEE THAT EVERYBODY WANTS COACH VOSS. THE ROOT OF THE PROGRAM IS THE FRESHMAN CLASS. THE FRESHMAN FAMILIES WANT VOSS. THE SCHOOL WANTS VOSS.
I'm sure she will get on here and read your post and you will carry great influence!

Any updates on this game??
Lineup was a joke

You could list every excuse ever given for losing a basketball game and it still wouldn't be enough to explain a 55 point lose in a state tournment. Im not taking anything away from Clarksville because I think everybody knew they were the better team. Is upper east tn. really this weak? I don't think DB could of won with 10 on 5.
Yes, they are that weak. Good thing DB didn't start with a Melrose or Whitestation or it might have been worse.
I hope you eat your words today

White Station by 10+
All Memphis Finals
Only someone to compare with Joe in this tourney (Guard wise) is Chris Jones.
Memphis will do it again.............
Geez! NE needs to win by 150 I guess, to get any respect out of you people

Theres no question that talent wise DB is the 8th ranked team in this tournment. But they did what they had to do to make it to the final 8. With a little luck they could pull off the upset in this game. Either way they have worked hard and played well as a team in the last half of the season. I wish our football team would play with as much dedication. Maybe they will take note.
Oh absolutely it's quite an accomplishment to make it to the final 8! I was by no means knocking DB in any way! I was just saying that I think NE is really good and I'm actually pretty shocked why they don't get anymore love than they do! Maybe Memphis is a lot better than NE and I don't know what I'm talking about. But here's what I look at... Last year, when White Station won it all, they had a tough time with NE on their way. NE brought back most of their kids, and the big boy inside is a lot better than anyone they had last year. Once again, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.... But I really think, that if NE doesn't beat White Station they'll at least give them all they want and more.
I really believe they'll show that there's not more than 5 points separating them from the MEMPHIS ELITE!!
-
I expect NE to make it a couple rounds this year actually. I think they will win this one in double digits and then upset White Station and get to the finals.

GET IT RIGHT BLACKMAN. VOSS SHOULD BE THE BOSS.
That's a kinda catchy slogan you got there Mr. Voss...

When I went to state a couple of years ago, Clarksville High School had one of the best crowds
That's surprising to me. I'm sure you're right that they did, but I've been to several of their regular season games and it always seems like there's no one there. I know they have a fairly big gym, but I remember even when they were really good, their home crowds wouldn't even touch 200 people. But then again, everyone likes a winner! So I stand by my earlier comment, at the state tourney, they probably did roll out big numbers.
Dyer County however, I must say, has big numbers ALL the time. Now their numbers grow as the tourney gets farther along, but they seem to have big numbers even on a Tuesday night against an "obion county" if you will. They have really impressed me!
Henry County Hires Mike Greer

Mike will do a great job, as Mitch did when he was there. Amusing to hear u talk about the underdevelopment of "athletes" and their fundamentals. Coaches can only do so much, a player has to have the drive to push themselves to the next level. You live in a football community and from what ive been told, the best athletes u speak of are much more in love with football than they are basketball. Wasn't Wilkins in the hof in MO and didn't the paper say when he resigned that he was the 3rd winningest coach in your schools history with the second highest winning % only being there 5 years? I'm not sure if he was your problem there ha. But I do think highly of Greer and have enjoyed watching his teams over the years.
Also, I agree with others that region 5 is solid, but it's not comparable to Memphis...
