  1. . I never questioned anyone's support one way or the other. I am not there so it would be extremely unfair for me to do so. My "main" point was for everyone to keep in mind that some of the kids read this board. I think someone mentioned something about blind allegiance to the coach, well right now the kids need just that! They don't need any kind of doubt raised about any of there coaches, they need to buy in 100% believe in the system and the men teaching them to play the game. It can be very difficult to watch the game and always be positive and come across as a homer, but right now that is exactly what the kids need. If they all believe, sell out and become one heart beat much can be accomplished. You guys are in a great position. Coach G WILL ALWAYS have the kids best interest at heart. Trust me he will take up for them to the very end. I have witnessed that myself. Is he perfect no he is not ( look how short he is) . Being ahead of a top five rated team by 10 at the half tells me volumes. The kids are starting to believe! All I was trying to say and I did not do a good job of doing so is EVERYTHING these kids need to hear outside of the coaches teaching them, is positive reinforcement on how everything is headed in the right direction. Buy in, Sell out,for your teammates, school and community, go have some fun and make those Gov fans proud! I know I believe!! BTW Coach G called me last night and he is very excited about the kids , school and community. He is pumped! ( for a little guy) GO GOVS!
  2. I think the Reb is trying to stir the pot and then set back and smile. It was not a shot at TP. Just an opinion. Some will try to divide and conquer, I guess that's what Alcoa did to the Rebs.
  3. To Mr Poole I have coached with Coach G and am very familiar with that offense, I can assure you with that offense "if" the middle of the field were open, G would have taken advantage of it. Any coach worth a grain of salt can make an adjustment but the good ones make the adjustment against your weakness as to what you are not good at or they are better at(sounds like what Bearden did). That offense is designed to have pretty simple answers to most adjustments any defense can make, its just that sometimes the other guy may be better there. Do you think that offense has had time to go over every look they are going to get???? Heck at this point I would think the entire coaching staff has done an outstanding job just being able to run the offense with any timing at all! Get behind Gregory and be supportive of the coaching staff, G and his staff will make WB competitive. I will guarantee you the kids are starting to believe. I would imagine some of them read these threads. GO GOVS!!!!!
  4. Frankly I see no reason to point out any young man by name as GOSQHS did. I think it is tactless and shows no class, again you have someone hiding behind a computer running someone down. That is cowardly thing to do. JRR brought a lot of heart and dedication to that football team, never missing work outs and giving you everything he had. He may have not been the most gifted athlete but you never ever had to worry about his motor running and giving you his best. I am also disappointed in some of you to just let something like that slide by.
  5. I see no mention of the Huffman kid? Is he still with the team? GO CHIEFS!!
  6. His first thoughts will be what part of the offense will help me win the game. The offense is flexible enough to do many things from a game management stand point. If that is what it takes to win the game it will be three yards and win the game. It is a very effective offense, not a power scheme if that is what you mean. It is a blend of several offenses that he has put together over the years. With midline and veer you can take a team that has a beast and never block him, yet take him completely out of the game. You also make them play assignment football on defense which is hard to teach in a week. Then you throw in the counter ISO(sally), buck sweep and fullback trap, when the defense starts to squeeze, play action pass off each of those, then you have the Gun with more option, speed sweep, dart, shovel (Utah)pass, and then the Tony Franklin spread pass game. All of this can be ran with no huddle. That is a load for "any" team to get ready for in a week. Blocking schemes are simple, Terminology builds off of series making it easy to remember. If the defense tries to take away something the QB has a very easy check system to answer with. The entire offense is use to the check system because you work on the no huddle every day. The kids are not in mental overload because the terminology tells them what to do once they learn a half dozen simple rules. Gregory will spoon feed them at just the right pace using a progession teaching method before moving on to the next phase. The kids will know what they are doing before he adds more( I butted heads with him more than once on adding more and every time he was right and I was wrong but he let me see and try it my way knowing he was right all the time, but "I" learned from it). They don't have to think just go play. Once they "get it" the kids will love it and believe in it, knowing they will move the football. It is an offense that can control the clock or move the chains quickly. It will take some time to get them comfortable but Gregory is the best I have ever seen at seeing a play blow up on the practice field and then fixing it where the kids get it. I apologize for rambling on and on, but as you can see I love to talk football. Do me a favor when you see coach tell him Dr Dave wants to know if he will run the Rocket /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />. In his heart he knows he needs to /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> You guys and the kids are going to have lots of fun and create life long memories, I truly envy you. Enjoy the ride.
  7. I don't have a dog in this hunt but there is the glass half full side of it. I mean if there were openings in your field of work would you not owe it to yourself and family to at least explore the options on occasion? I mean after all he did stay at Rhea. It bothers me to know end that fans will slam coaches for looking around, when it is good, but some of those same fans will be calling for a change if a bad year or two rolls around. It is a two edge sword. Be glad that you have a coach that others would want, but has elected to stay with you. It does not mean the man is disloyal at all. He has a right and if nothing else the same obligation to look after and take care of his family the same as "anyone else". Surely one can see that is a double standard by almost anyone's standards.
  8. To answer some of the above questions. He will run the double wing, some no huddle, with midline, veer, buck sweep, counters, fullback trap, shovel pass and great play action. Out of the gun more option and dart, with the Tony Franklin, pass game. Very very difficult offense to defend. He will have very up tempo practices, planned down to the minute. He will play the best kid period. That doesn't mean the most athletic, but the ones that do the correct things, weight room, assignments, reps, school, community etc. It will be a level playing field for "everyone" no exceptions. The kids will love him. He will earn there respect not just demand it, big difference. He is a straight shooter, will tell you the truth never make any mistake about that. Parents he will tell you in a nice respectful way about little Johnny but want sugar coat it. If the administration and I have no reason to think otherwise will be honest and straight forward with him you will have a coach for a long long time. He will not tolerate being mislead or lied too. He is a man of his word and will always do the right thing for the kids. He may not be able to accomadte your desires but you can always rest assured he will do what is best for the good of the whole. Know this "if" there are Judas in the ranks Gregory will deal with them in a fair but swift fashion. BTW for those of you that may be disappointed that Fits was not hired...... He tried to hire Gregory himself a couple of years ago! Be very excited WB you got one heck of a coach make no mistake about that, but as I have stated before what you should be even more excited about is that he is even a better man. He makes those that are willing to follow better people, what more could you ever hope to want for. GO GOVS!!!!!!!
  9. Mighty quiet on here did they make an offer yet or not?
  10. Great post on how the game has changed from a coaching standpoint and what it takes to be successful as a coach on and off the field.
  11. Gregory has the last interview, scheduled for today.
  12. I am sure Maryville has a thread on here somewhere. Mall Cop I kinda like it. FYI I already have a WB hat and bought two for my friends so there!
  13. In the films and games I saw,I didn't see Central run midline one time. I have seem them run the veer on film when Derrik first came in a spring game against Mcminn. If midline is ran the right way it is hard for anybody to stop on a consistent basis. "Its just like Novocaine if you give it time it will work."
  14. lowkee that is pretty good stuff! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  15. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  16. I don't want to disappoint you but I am not from Blount County
  17. You are very observant!!! Come on down, we will take good care of you!
  18. Did I mention anything about having a son?????? hmmmm. My arrogance??? YOU stuck your nose into a situation you know nothing about and make suggestions to me on how I should conduct my self, now you are into name calling and you call me arrogant?? Woman, kid, impostor it makes no difference. Coaching is a hard enough profession, but when people tell lies that "possibly" could have some or any affect on there career. or create unnecessary hills for them to climb. Those lies should be retracted or at a minimum one should defend a friend when they know different. If you are asking me to have compassion for someone that tries to smear someone with bold face lies, trust me that will not happen. Just how old would you be? I hope that Gregory gets the WB job if that is what both parties desire. The kids will benefit from having been around him and in no way am I talking just football. He has experience running the Tony Franklin package, but his bread and butter is the double wing, like Ga. Tech with Paul Johnson runs. Very very hard offense to defend.
  19. running midline, Excellent! great addition to Centrals offense, throw in some veer that I saw them run before and watch out, with that passing game will be hard to stop.
  20. good guy, good football coach, want put up with any crap, no double standards.
  21. "Dude" if she told the same lies about a friend of yours, you would not see it as a "vandetta" (vendetta) as you call it.
  22. LadyRebFan you called Sequoyah yet?. You still haven't came out from behind the computer? I guess when you tell lies it makes it difficult to "step up" and "raise the bar" /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  23. LoL that is pretty good /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
