  1. I see your point and agree with you Superdave. The way I see it Oakdale has played 2 close games with oliver springs something around 6 points each time and played 2 close games with Wartburg 1 point each time. I think that Oakdale should win their game and then either way they will be facing a team they have not beaten this year either Wartburg or OS. They need to try to do all they can to get back on a winning track before region begins. These same people that are saying that wartburg wouldn't beat oakdale again are the same ones that said wartburg wouldn't beat oakdale at all in the beginning of the season so i don't think that the oakdale coach needs to take their advice very much. Wartburg and Oliver Springs will be a good game and I will give the edge to OS by a little. 51-49
  2. I don't see Oakdale girls throwing a game. Coach Snow is a competitor and he will want to see his players bounce back from last night's heart breaker! Good Luck to both teams moving forward!
  3. Superdave, How many did O'dell have tonight? I was told she only had 7 points. Can Oakdale bounce back from this one to claim 3rd or will Coalfield beat them. Coalfield didn't look very good to me tonight but I think that they will play much better next game. I feel like the OS and Wartburg game will be a very good one but i cant say who will win. You could make an argument for either team. OS seems to be the more healthy team and Wartburg looks to be very hungry. It will be a good game.
  4. Wartburg won 47-46 Wartburg won the game with good balance on offense I think that 4 players had 10 or more and the Lady Dogs did so without possibly their best player who was out sick. Good job Lady Dogs & Coach Davis congrats! I knew that you all could do it!
  5. Oldshcool, She has the flu or something. The girl's said that she may still have an outside chance at playing next week but more than likely it will be the regional tournament before she is back. That's a big blow for the Wartburg team, but I'm not counting them out just saying that it will take a real effort from those that remain to win on Friday. Superdave, I agree with you if Coach Davis shows some maturity and allows his kids to get better during the Dist Tourney this team could still Win the region! But, if he pushes them too hard over the next few days, I doubt if they will have enough in the tank for a serious run at the regions
  6. With the tournament here how does everyone stack up? O.S. appears to be in the driver's seat again Wartburg - will be without Settles until at least the second round of the region. I'm not sure that they will be able to tople O.S. or even Oakdale if that is the case. But it is on their floor and that makes them a problem for any team they may play. Oakdale - is healthy and playing good ball after beating Sunbright Coalfield - is also a player now with O.S. next and they have beat O.S. once this year so far.
  7. I think you are right about the talent Kaz! I think that Coalfield may be the second or third most talented team in the district but they sure don't play like it. I feel like Wartburg has done about all that could be expected during the regular season. I'm very excited about the tournament! Oakdale 45 Coalfield 32
  8. Judging by the way the wartburg girls have been acting and talking they have turned the page to tournament season. They know that Oakdale is the team that they will need to play to advance in the tournaments and so I doubt that they will risk anything in terms of gameplan for tonight. I could be wrong but the loser of this game will probably play Sunbright in a play in game for the 4-A tournament and then these two should be at it again in the 4A semi-finals, so there isn't much on the line tonight. I will say Oakdale 39 Wartburg 40 in OT (O'dell is very good and at times our post players look like they are afraid of bigger players)
  9. If you are going by who performed the best given the pressure they were under for the entire season I guess you would have to say that Jason is the C.O.Y. There is no other coach in the district that has been scrutinized as much as JD, had some BIG shoes to fill in replacing DD. He has done well the team has won more this year and is in a good spot to make a run in the dist. tourney. The only reason that I went with West at Oneida is the fact that he has been in a rebuilding situation and still found a way to be pretty good. But Jason should be in the discussion as well.
  10. I think that the win over coalfield secured at least the 3rd seed for the wartburg girls, correct? Also, the Coalfield boys team is the worst team in terms of sportsmanship I've ever seen! Something needs to be done down there to restore some form of competitive spirit! And this is coming from a Wartburg fan. Those boys down there are still kids and they deserve better than they are getting!
  11. It will be hard to call the game with Wartburg and OS I'll Take Oakdale by 4 with Oneida Coalfield will beat Sunbright by about 12. What were the comments made by the Coalfield Coach toward the kids at Wartburg? Heard that she called them Classless! If so I think that's AWFUL If our coach had said something like that they would have hung him after the boys game! My coach of the year would be Oneida's coach. He's done a good job with a very young team. Second maybe Snow or Davis
  12. After going through a small slump it appears that the Wartburg Girl's are back to playing good ball. Great Win over Coalfield! What's the deal with the Coalfield Girls? They looked very confused on offense all night!
  13. I really don't think I've ever seen Mr. Davis call any plays from behind the bench. I know that he usually sits away from the team entirely. I believe that knight2 must just have a problem with Jason or something. If memory serves me correctly you are one of the people that was spreading rumors that were total lies about Jason before he even took the job! I will say that you are good at slander! Maybe you should start another petition to keep him from coaching in the tournament! The Wartburg team is going to be ok. This season has been a very good one and they can even still get a 1 seed in the district tournament if they play well over the next 4 games. Their schedule has been a tough one but it will make them much better come tournament time.
  14. I am always looking at numbers I looked the schedules up and found today that it's pretty amazing that wartburg in the last two years had a (6-14) regular season record in D-4A. Now, Davis has a chance to equal or even pass that number in only one season. And he has basically the same girls. I think that is great. Also, they won 17 games a year ago and I think that this years team can equal or pass that number also. Overall I think that things are going to be fine and we have a solid group coming back next season with Taleah, Anna, and Crystal along with several other talented So. and Jr. players. I read on another post that the team was 25-27 over the last two years, so I think that if jason wins 18 games this year that's pretty good! Of course you'll always have people that are critical anytime you start 2 Juniors and one Soph, on a team with 6 Seniors.
  15. I felt like the effort was poor in the second half at Oneida. The coaching wasn't bad in my opinion. The team is 4-2 in the District with a chance to be competitive the rest of the season. The team dominated Oneida for 6 out of 8 quarters played this year. Remember that Oneida only lost to Oakdale by 5! One other thing to think about is the fact that this team went 14-10 in the regular season a year ago and this year I think they're looking at 15-16 regular season wins and could get to 20 with some luck in the tournaments. chillR, If you're coaching the team what would you do differently? What players are out of position? Who doesn't have a position that needs one? I'm not sure how people can get on here and say that this team is not performing well. Most said they would finish behind Oak, OS, and Coalfield early in the year and now they stand in second place. After watching them play Saturday they looked much, much, better!
  16. Wartburg won 60-24 The lady dogs started 2 Juniors and 1 Soph. and rotated in units of players subbing 4/5 ever few minutes. They played with great energy and I thought that McWorter and Armes bots did a great job alternating at the point. Also, Madison and Anna did a nice job at the 5 spot. Maybe the Oneida loss was the best thing for the team!
  17. I think there are problems with this wartburg team. Not the ego thing dave but something else. Last night we had senior players that did not understand the game situation. Some that had 3 fouls played like they had none, there was little composure, and we have a post player that has been as you've said out of order for the last 4 games! Changes need to be made to wake the girls up! They acted like the game was won after half-time! I will lose a lot of respect for coach davis if he doesn't get them back together for the stretch run in the district! I think that he has many players on the bench capable of driving in out of control and throwing the ball out of the gym!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to Oneida! Great win for your team.
  18. I'll be able to tell you how it will go after tonight. Wartburg plays harriman and may be in for a little trouble. I've heard that Harriman has a new player and she's pretty good! Early prediction Wartburg 43 (If the Lady Dogs break out of their shooting slump) If not who knows. Oneida 35
  19. Laney21, if they had called the tackle what would have happened? Would Oakdale have won the game? They weren't in the bonus so they would have had to inbound the ball against the only thing wartburg had going for them all night their press! How do you get we're saying that you didn't outplay us? You did but not enough to come back without the help of the refs!!!
  20. In the first half of the girls game the Oakdale girls got all the calls and in the second they called it pretty even! Don't make it like the refs were any good in boys or girls games!!! The people that are complaining about the contact at the end of the girls game were not dealing with facts. Wartburg wasn't even in the bonus! Wartburg boys were not fouling at the same rate they were being called. The Oakdale boys got that one handed to them!
  21. Hey Superdave, It seems the egos in blue and white are doing just fine don't you think? Let's see, Wartburg was supposed to crack at the seems with an inept coach and fussy players right? Now, Oliver Springs and Wartburg are the two teams that if they win out could take dist 4A outright. Glad to see Coalfield playing much better and I hope they continue to play tough. If they or Oakdale can beat O.S. again that would be something pretty special.
  22. Full or 30? /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Glad to see you've recovered from the other night! The kids said that the talk in the locker room after the game could have been out of some movie. They will come back friday and play harder than ever! Just be nicer to the refs next game /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Good Luck Lady Dogs
  23. I was looking at the roster on coacht a few minutes ago and really feel like Wartburg is at the beginning of a three year run where they should be able to contend for the 4A top spot This year they are good with the mix of upper and underclassmen, but looking to the next two years they should be strong with some very good soph and jr players waiting in the wings. Things are looking very bright for the girls and I think that the team will finish the regular season with 16-18 wins and be 2/3 heading in to the tournamnet and I think that two of the three OS, Oakdale, or Wartburg will have a chance to play in the substate for a chance at the boro. It is going to really be fun to see how things finish up as the season continues. Friday nights winner gets a jump on the last part of the dist season. Good luck to all of 4A
  24. Knight, You can't really question the substitutions because we don't know what was going on on the bench. There was probably a reason. Also, the run was a quick 6-0 and the team in my opinion played well in to the fourth quarter. A timeout may have been nice I'll agree there, but the team had 3 chances to tie the game in the 4th but simply missed some shots. Then OS began to stall the ball and Christopher is very good at the line. But I guess criticism is to be expected and some should be deserved. But coaches are like everyone else they make mistakes from time to time. I know that you said that Jason has done a very good job and your opinion is a fair one about the timeout. Even though I thought he took one in the 3rd quarter but I'm not 100% I'm not saying that you're a coach hater, but from what I can see alot of Wartburg fans are way out of order in their conduct toward our coaches. The overall picture shows Coach Layne running a great program, Coach J. Davis running a very good program and our kids all seem eager to play the game and love each of their coaches to me that is exactly what success should be defined as.
  25. Catmommy, I thought the game was great 46-39 Oliver Springs won but the Lady Dogs held control of the game for almost 3 quarters. The environment was hostile but the girls played very well. I look forward to watching O.S. and Wartburg play again! I thought that O.S. played very well down the stretch, but the Lady Dogs had a couple of turnovers and 2 or 3 missed shots that ended up making the difference. Coming out of the game I've got a few of observations 1. Wartburg is getting much better each time they play 2. Christopher is not the best player in the last 25 years, she may be the best player ever in 4A 3. I think if Staten hadn't got in foul trouble the game could have come out differently 4. It looks to me that we can put the coaching debate (Wartburg) behind us also. Good luck to both teams!
