  1. Eye witnesses say that is was the worst call they have ever seen. How can they blow a call that big in a semi-final game?

There is a 6ft difference between the solid line and the dashed one. The crew and the TSSAA should be embarassed, the lines are solid and dashed to avoid any obvious confusion, appearantly that didn't work. Too bad for the kids to be robbed on something so easy to call.

T$$AA probaby won't care is doesn't affect the bottom line.

    Looks like he's in.

  2. The new season (playoffs) starts this week.

What are your predictions or educated guesses on the DII AA playoff outcome?

Who has the easiest path to Cookeville and who has the most difficult path?

McCallie vs BC - Winner vs Baylor

SBA vs BGA - Winner vs CBHS

MBA vs Ryan - Winner vs Ensworth

BA vs JP2 - Winner vs MUS

McCallie beats Briarcrest, BGA beats St. Ben, MBA beats Ryan, BA beats Pope. After that, all toss ups.

  3.

    points to ponder :

-was he given the chance to stay at EHS as just a student

-was all educational assistance used by EHS to help the student, and in return did the student just not respond and/or care about his grades

-did he use EHS or did EHS use him

I was an o-cord for a major catholic high school in the chicago area for over 10 years - my son was recruited by Northwestern so i do have some knowledge of what goes on in regards to this subject.

If we found out that Jimmy John was a standout at his middle school,we would make sure he got one of our letters to invite him to our "summer camp" or perhaps, i would go to his middle school talk to his coach and many other ways to entice the kid to come to our school = technically we wouldnt call it recruiting but.....

Dont forget hte hoopla when this kid was enticed to come to EHS, from his old school ( cant recall the name of his old high school , think it was a lil south of Maury County - heck did his daddy move closer to EHS, did he live with extended family, or did his dad play taxi driver each day - hey does ehs go out to find the best tuba players for the band?

I bet the best tubas players look for the schools with top music programs. Much the same way as a top athlete would want to attend a school with great facilities and one of the best coaching staffs in the state. Usually, top private schools sell themselves through reputation without having to directly recruit students...so you're dumb.

  4. Just a point of clarification, Webb does not board any students, never have. Perhaps you are thinking of Webb at Bell Buckle who I believe does.

All of the buildings you see when you visit the campus are for the Lower School, Middle School and High School which are all located on the same property.

Ahhhh my bad. I knew Bell Buckle did and I could have sworn that someone told me Knox Webb did as well. My apologies lol

Either way, Webb was easily my favorite team to play every year and I'm glad they have seen success with the decision they made.

  5. Im wrong? FRA does have a pretty nice campus and some nice facilities. DA is about average. Ezell is lower tier. There is not 1 thing about Ezell and Webb that is similar. Zion has to rent a city field because they dont have lights at their field. Its a nice enough place but nowhere near one of the nicest in the state. They dont have a stadium at all. They have a field with some portable metal bleachers. You obviously dont have a clue what you are talking about.

Ezell's isn't the nicest, but it certainly is comparable to Webb's. Also, the Pit in Columbia is definitely one of the nicest, at least aesthetics wise. I know Zion doesn't exactly have their own stadium, which is exactly why I separated them from the others. Again, how does anything you're saying count as a negative against Webb?

  6. Can you answer all those same questions about the other D2a schools? NO. So your basball field just got lights huh? There are at least 2 D2a FOOTBALL teams that dont have lights. Same bleachers since the 80's? Welcome to the club. You have the best facilities in d2a e/m, hands down.

BTW, i have no obsession with Webb. I started 1 thread and only replied to your comments about Webb.

For one, Webb boards some students, so their facilities are going to mirror that need. Also, if you have ever played at Webb and sat in that visiting locker room, you would know they don't have the best facilities. FRA, DA, and Ezell all have comparable to be better facilities. Also, Zion plays in one of the nicest stadiums in the state...so explain that one.

But that only covers the E/M. ECS,USJ, ECS, and Harding from the West are all in the same boat in terms of good facilities.

You are so so so so so so so dumb. And wrong. Full of wrong.

  7. The same can be said about EVERY private school. The majority of kids in private schools are there for the education, not sports. You act like Webb is made of of mostly non athletes and other schools are not. You think kids are going to Riverside and Zion for the football teams? Basically every private schools student body is made up of kids that are there for reasons other then sports.

Oh and dont tell me where to vent too. Last time i checked, this is a message board and as long as i dont violate the TOS then i can say what I choose too. If you dont like it, then dont reply.

Have fun facing off next year against region foes like MJCA(pop.121), Zion(pop. 120) and Riverside(pop.78), while teams smaller then you, BGA, BA and Ensworth, compete against top competition week in and week out.

Next time you have a thought, just let it go.

For years, Maryville and Alcoa have had the opportunities to play up (yes, even in DI), but they haven't. Teams tend to play where they are classified...that would seem the normal course of action.

You also obviously don't understand that BA, EHS, BGA playing up isn't even in the same realm of decision making that would go into the administration at Webb moving up; drastically different schools in different areas with a wide variety of motivations behind their respective choices. BA and EHS are "sports" schools and BGA, by virtue of location, history, etc, has to lump themselves with those schools to compete in the private school market. Webb is much closer in the type of institution they are with DA, FRA, DCA, etc than teams in AA.

The previous set up of three classes in DII would remedy your problem, but as everyone involved in DII the past decade or so has seen, this method dilutes the division...but yea, you really are making zero valid points...so stop it. Enrollment in private schools plays a far less significant role in the talent of the athletic department than it does in DI. Why do you think there's a divisional split even with the multiplier?

  8. We are getting better as a team. We dont need xanax. Its terrible you said that. We had the game won, but things happen. Great game to MBA. Stop hating on the kids who do a tremendous job week to week. Get a life.

Wow...you're not a very intelligent person.

  9. Run an 8-5-5 defense, and on offense, use snipers liberally.

Best comment I have/will ever read on here.

I think it is time for BGA to stop making excuses about their small enrollment and show they can compete with the Big Boys.

I don't think it is as much as an excuse as it is an honest circumstance. And unless something has drastically changed since I graduated, the BGA administration will never put the emphasis on athletics that MBA, EHS, and BA do. But, with that being said, going 6-4, 8-3, 5-6, and to this point, 4-1 since they have joined DII-AA is pretty impressive. Also, going 2-2 against Baylor, 2-2 against Father Ryan, and 1-0 against McCallie, who have all been staples of Super Prep football since the public/private split, shows that they have been competing just fine with at least the upper section of the middle tier.

Still, move down to DII-A, and they would win state. All the time. In more than just football. Just another example of a lack of common sense in the Williamson County bubble.

  10.

I tell you what.I believe thats not how you know him. That it is impossible to believe that what I have said about your coach is true. But your a former player..right? That tells me you have his phone number.ASK him yourself!!!!As far as Clark goes,I read for myself an interview that was posted online where he said " I ran the team down to 30 players".At Jeff I saw it myself.I'm sorry this doesn't jive with the man that you know,But it is still the truth. If you ask HIM he will admit that he had alot of " bad apples".And that by the end of those seasons he was left with 30 good ones.

I'm not saying he didn't run anyone off; in which case, good for him for getting guys off the team that did not want to play. But it is logistically impossible to run off 240 different players over 4 years. For that to occur, 60 brand new football players per year would have to randomly show up to play. I don't deny that he is tough, but you are claiming that running a tight ship is bad. Have you ever coached? Have you ever even played? You were probably the kid whose parents told him every day in high school that you should be the star QB and could play in the NFL, but some mean coach stopped those dreams. Go away Uncle Rico. You are wrong.

  11. ........Weather or not players quit while M was an assistant or if they quit now that he is HC is not the point.weather or not you believe what I said about his record is not important to me either.I know that at least some of the quiet minority there at BGA must be concerned about what Marty has done at 2 of his previous schools and will at least be vigilent in their monitoring of the situation.YOU are welcome for this information .11 on the field 20 on the sideline.find a old photo or film.Heck you can even call newspapers/any of the current or former coaches. You could probably just call any number in Jeff or Clark and verify everything yourself!!30 players!!Thats all . like it or not..

    vigilant

You said that he ran off 240 players over 4 years. That is false.

  12. "concessions, credence, separate"

I CAN'T SPELL !!!thanks for helping

"Unless I missed something, teams are judged based on wins and loses, not by how many people participate. But hey, good luck winning the human pyramid contest. 100 players should build a pretty big one."

You and several others HAVE missed something. 60 maybe as much as 70 players/children were forced off the team ,were encouraged to quit, were made to feel unwelcome or refused to play for this man while he was the HEAD COACH at 2(two) separate schools ,over the course of 4 seasons !!! It wasn't the AD, or the assistant coaches ,or the parents, or the community or the School Board or the economy ,or ME ,or anything other than this man and is leadership. I think it's odd that no one on this blog can accept the FACT that a coach can be so great(1998 championship) and be so divisive just a few years later. This ugly fact IS part of his coaching record.Insulting what I have said or how poorly I have spelled it ,doesn't change what HE did. However,I am not calling for any punitive action.I am not demanding anything be done.I am not wishing anything similar happen at your school.I do,however, hope that everyone at BGA will keep a close eye on him and hopefully prevent what can and did happen at 2 schools. You fine folks are not immune and you should be thankful for the heads up.Here at Jeff we were not warned and it turned into a big disaster.Seriously,I am happy to hear that all is well at a BGA and that he is so loved and respected.I believe we all should have second and third chances.

"Oh, and if your opinions represent the general consensus at Jeff Co, the problem is pretty obvious." My statements are not opinions. They are painful facts.I do have opinions. In fact I have many opinions on him and his motivations.I know alot of the opinions of his former players.Ive talked to many of them. But I have declined to speak for them or to state anything that isnt verifiable or that might be viewed as subjective or vindictive. Please (ALL of you) keep in mind this was a very terrible time at Jeff(3 years) and Clark(Just 1 year).Alot of kids and families were hurt. Our community was bitterly divided and those wounds(on either side)have yet to heal.I pray this doesn't happen at your school.Honestly--GOOD LUCK to everyone at BGA . PS .The win/loss record with and without him is about the same(poor). But the participation level has greatly improved without him. PSS Or maybe you guys are right.Maybe Jeff and Clark are full of lazy, selfish kids.Maybe Marty was right and that 240 kids(60 times 4 years) were wrong.Maybe you could ask him yourself to explain how something like that could happen?Maybe explain to me and those families how he just happens to find himself coaching during a window of horrible/spoiled kids? :roflol:

First, I have a hard time believing he ran off 60 players per year for four years. In order to do that, 90-100 players would have to come out each of those years, with over half being run off. That does not add up, especially since only 18 of the players signed that petition. If any players were actually run off or ripped on, it is in his full right to do so. Playing the game is not a right, and I can promise you that as long as their attitude was what it should have been, he would never unjustly target players for criticism. Now, if they were slacking, disrespectful, etc, then yes, they deserved to be hit on the helmet or yelled at. THAT IS FOOTBALL. What sad sad world do you live in where a coach cursing and getting mad at his team is unacceptable?

Since you continue to bring up "facts," the fact that no one has quit at BGA since he has coached is applicable as well. Unlike you, I actually played for the man, so if 70-ish different players that I played with under him for two years didn't feel threatened, or feel that mean ole Marty was just too much too handle, the FACT is that he obviously isn't too bad.

Just because you come in on the back end of an argument by being nice and saying "good luck" doesn't make your opinion unbiased, balanced, or fair. Your position is from one of a community that is, according to you, still whining about their former HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH (Is that really a big enough issue to split a community?). Obviously, this opinion and stance on the issue is terribly misconstrued and illogical, so you have no place in providing analysis on the situation.

  13. Now, with all the consessions that I have made,I think it's only fair that my post regarding "running down to 30 players(children) at 2 seperate schools" ,must be given some weight and creadence. This" fact"is not a bash or an attack or negativity on my part, but a honest representation of what happened at Jeff and Clark. And, it is just as much of a fact as him having won State/Having a very good football mind and having people find him likable.(< See I'm fair and balanced)Further,It should be pointed out, that Jeff has averaged 100 players per year-since Marty's departure and it wasn't the result of replacing 60 bad apples with 60 good ones. PEACE/GOOD LUCK !! dvp4life

    concessions, credence, separate

Unless I missed something, teams are judged based on wins and loses, not by how many people participate. But hey, good luck winning the human pyramid contest. 100 players should build a pretty big one.

Can't spell.pathetic, soft, spoiled and childish. Well arn't we so colorful in our insults.Try and reread (sp?) my earlier post and see if you can honestly tell me that 60 to 70 players at 2 different schools are to blame.Or just maybe there was another reason.

Oh, and if your opinions represent the general consensus at Jeff Co, the problem is pretty obvious.

  14. I thought a would paraphrase the responses to my post about the facts about Marty's coaching record.I find it interesting that none of the highly intelligent ,educated and good people associated with the esteemed BGA program have found these facts troubling. There seems to be no arguement about anything that I posted. The only arguement is that I had the nerve to post it. This blind devotion is similar to what happened at JCHS..at least at first. My initial response is to attack back at you guys and tell you that you will get what you deserve. But after remembering all the players that had their football dreams shattered .I have decided that It is best to wish you well. :)

    Learn how to spell "argument"

And seeing as he brought my class as close to our goals as he possibly could, I am going to go ahead and assume the players that could not handle his coaching at Jefferson County are soft and spoiled (more so than kids from a Williamson County private school...which is pathetic). If pushing players to their full potential, starting the best players available no matter how unpopular the choice may be with parents (started a QB in '07 that had basically never played varsity over the Sr. incumbent which led to a 14-7 record the next two years compared to 3-17 the two years prior) and expecting them to fully commit to the team and his scheme is a sin, then yes, he is the Dark Lord. But for normal people that want to win, it was fun to be coached by him; be it in practice, film, or a game. And he is realllly funny. So there is your argument.

And it didn't take any nerve to post something about a former coach that you have a childish grudge against. Grow up.

  15. Obviously you are not up to date on BGA athletics and unaware Smith had been dismissed from bball coaching duties. Please stop putting down these kids and commenting on something you know nothing about. I can assure you that there is more than enough talent returning next season to compete with the teams you mentioned. And not withstanding how good a person Gary Smith is, a new coach can turn things around quickly on the hardcourt.

Running off Coach Smith shows the same lack of good intentions that firing Coach Moore showed. The people that made BGA great are all either retiring, being fired, or being pushed to the side. And if the administration were looking out for even a sliver of the students' interests, they would move down. Trying to keep up with the flashiness of BA and EHS shows the same white collar mentality that has infected that school throughout.

his first year as a (hc) he won STATE ...thats true!and I or anyone else can't take anything away from it.He was the HC and he gets the credit for that BIG win.He also gets full credit for when He said "MTSU was stupid" for not playing him at QB<<

Coach U is easily one of the most intellectual football coaches in the state. The turnaround the past few years can be placed squarely on him. You also use punctuation like a chick.

Yall be talking nonsense. tsk tsk

  16. I think it is hilarious that I got under your skin to the degree than you gave me a long, boring summary of you high school football career. Your football summary was not very clear, however, so perhaps you need to attend community college and bone up on your writing skills. Where are you playing college ball? How many games did BGA win during your high school football years? I am a little worried about you, however. I knew you were young, but I didn't realize you were still a child. I have never known a 19 year old to say "cheeio", "chap", and I can't imagine you attending a party. Your writing leads me to believe that you are telling the truth. Oh by the way, why is it that one of your former team mates seems to not like you very much?

You issued a false statement, so I had to defend against such rudeness. I'm doing just fine at UTC majoring in English, but you keep trucking! I'm not playing college football; same as millions of other high school football players (you as well) who just weren't big or good enough to play at the next level. 2-8 Fr year, 1-9 So year, 6-4 Jr year, 8-3 Sr year. Cherrio and Chap are usually present in stereotypical English portrayls; don't know how you connected that with young age. I don't know of any reason why you would want me to describe my non-academic pursuits besides the fact you seem kinda obsessed with me (thanks :roflolk: ). And I dunno, if I could read minds I'd know why you are such a grumpy person.

Again, this all leads to my question; what is your point about the DII title game being on a Thursday?

  17. Woolsworth, I know you are in a bad mood because of the loss MBA took to a less than great BGA team but you will have to suck it up. Why don't you and little a.p. battleax use your vast influence and have the Division II schools get out of the TSSAA now. It is hard to read about grown men, or as in the in the case of little a and p, almost grown men cry.

Well I have to admit, you have added a little wit to your comments this time around. Congrats on taking that Intro to Writing class in community college since the last time we saw you. It's done you well. And KW has not once complained or whined about the loss. If anything, he has been 100% unbiased about MBA and has always given equal time to both the positives and negatives of the team as well as the school. Anyone involved with a DII school is sick of how the TSSAA has treated these schools over the past 10+ years, so that is an attitude you will find runs consistently on this part of the board.

Hey old get in the game when they are won and done. These are not my words but the words of someone who played with you or against you when you were playing. How's it going? Good to hear from you and thanks for you kind invite to participate in this lofty section of coach t. Congradulatons on BGA beating MBA Friday night.

And oh dear, we have addressed this subject. I started in three games my sophomore year at NT, missed one to injury, and in the other six, I was the first LB and D-O lineman off the bench. My junior year, I started week zero at Guard and then missed the last nine games due to the same injury as previously mentioned. My Senior year I started the last three games at LB, missed one again due to that cute little broken back that I have had since Sophomore year, and then rolled in the entire game the other seven at O-D Line. I never made all-region anything, but I got to play for and with some of the best coaches and players in the state while I was at BGA, and always did what they asked of me (eh at least at LB, I sucked badly against Briarcrest on offense). And yes, I played with whoever it was that said that, but as I said before, he, as well as you, get to hide behind some bushleague name and say whatever you like. I decided to take some measure of responsibility for what I say on here, which I hope adds a little poignancy to my comments, as I loved being able to play for BGA and against the best competition and in some of the best environments in the state.

On to whatever God forsaken point you are trying to make...The last game of the college and pro seasons are games between the two best teams. Well here in Tennessee, the two best teams hands down in the state are being boned by having to play on a Thursday night. We simply were discussing what the reasoning behind this is. No whining. No going over to the 6A board saying that Oakland and Riverdale suck. A few people who have ties to the one or more of the twelve teams that comprise the best conference in the state were simply curious as to why the TSSAA would essentially hide their best product.

Seriously, get over this little fetish you have of having to show us the light. You seem like a sad little man without much going for you. I'm 19 and in college, and in the free time I have between parties and class, I get to jump on here for a bit and talk about something I am passionate about, all while getting a rise out of some exceptionally enlightened and educated boys like you. Cherrio chap and I look forward to your response  xoxo <3 <3

  18. A big win for BGA. Did ANYBODY actually pick them to win???

I kinda did lol but outside of a few people that have picked BGA to win every game as well as a state title, a national championship, and a Super Bowl ring, I don't think anyone really did.

  19.

Best game in the state........I'm trying so hard not to cuss. Whine, whine, whine, and more whine. What is it that you two don't understand about numbers? Whole towns turn out for public school games and that doesn't happen in Division II. Money and numbers. Handle it.

I just thought I'd throw this out there, but this is the second time you have dipped into the DII boards and seemed like an (insert whatever clever explitive you would like here). But it's really great to have you back here champ; can't wait to see what you have to contribute.
