  1. So sorry to hear the Lady Bees are out of this. I could not make it to the game on Saturday, and I could not get the radio to come in strong enough to know what happened, but I know that the Lady Bees gave it all they have, because that is the only way they know how to play. I became a big fan of the Davis and Maynard kids when I moved here back in 06. They are what Upperman Basketball is about to me. I will miss their passion. I will miss their effort. And I will miss the smiles on their faces as the completely shut down an opponent with the stifling Lady Bees press. I have enjoyed watching all of these kids play since I got into town. Taylor, Simmons, Watson, some very good kids have left in the past couple years, but there is just something special about the Davis and Maynard kids and it just wont be the same without them. That being said, I have said this to a few people already this year, I think the Randolph kid will come in and do very well. Infact, I think she will win every personal accolade available before she graduates (aside from Miss Basketball). And I know the Hammock kid will step up and deliver bigtime. But it still will take a while to get used to it all. I guess I will be spending time in Bowling Green the next few years. I wish I could have talked LaShay into going a few hundred miles farther north for college, but I know she made a great choice for her and her family. She will do well. Good luck to LaShay and Jennifer in their future endeavors, where ever that may lead them. Thanks for the years of entertainment and class.
  2. Good luck to the Bees tonight. Wish I could be there but have a few issues keeping me in town. Focus. Keep your heads straight. And give everything you have for every second of ever minute. GO BEES.
  3. yeah, because the coach is the one that goes out and makes the shots. And boxes out. And makes the passes. Must be her fault. It is a game, played by kids. period. Sometimes you win, sometimes you dont.
  4. Hey King21, Ive got no problem with you. Crap, Im too tired to post anything else. Good luck to your teams. GB
  5. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
  6. Hey Abby~Loo. I appreciate the kind words. Very much. The LA fan thing.... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> .....She was very upset last night, about the lack of trophy presentation for the girls on Wed night. we "cheated them out of their moment" She let me know exactly how upset she was. I tried to let her know that it was not intentional. She seemed to still think that it was. There was not going to be anything that I could possibly say to make her feel better about it. But that is ok. She cares. That is cool. She just happened to be yelling at the wrong person. I couldnt do anything, or even answer as to why it happened. I know why, but I cannot speak for them, it would just sound like I was making excuses. To the LA fans on this one: I know the people who matter were not happy about this. It was their own mistake, they will never try to pass the buck. It was an honest mistake. I was trying to get things around and just call the teams out for a picture and a "moment", to make it as right as possible, but things happened and we couldnt get it done. I should have pushed that farther.
  7. Thanks. That is beyond nice. But I am probably much more proud of them than they could ever be of me. There are some very fine people in this community. Yes we have our 5% also, but I cannot even describe how it feels to be a part of this place. As I told Big Daddy last night, and the Taylor kids Grandfather the night before, I was dangerously close to moving to Hog-eye country. Interesting little twists in life. The town has taken us in as one of their own, inspite of my Gator and Spartan gear, haha. They have also taken in my new foster kid as one of their own, and that is huge to me. Great, great people all over the UCumberland. Im just glad to be a small part of it all. Good times. catch you soon. Go Bees.
  8. Here are a couple guidelines I try to stick with: 1) the 95/5 theory. Just about every fanbase is divided up this way. 95 percent good people. 5 percent jerk. (except for FSU and u of michigan, they are direct opposite). 2) one moment does not define who a person is. It just defines who they are capable of being. (both good and bad moments) 3) It takes zero kahuna's to be a jerk, but it can occassionally take real stones to stand up and do what is right. I believe that most of the folks I have met from LA, both here and in person, fall into the 95%. Even the lady that was ripping me last night, probably falls into that 95%. She was sticking up for what she thought was right. She had it aimed in the wrong direction, and probably would be heard more if she spoke softer, but I think her heart was in the right place. There were some things said to me at the game Wed night that some people need to be ashamed of. But they are the 5%. I do not hold that against the rest of you. As for the one moment. We all have had them at one time or another. The moment you wish you could take back. As long as you do not let that define you as a person, then you are better for it. I have had those moments. I had one this week, and I think we have gotten past that. I hope so anyways. Im 43. Some of those moments I should not have anymore, but I dont believe in being too reserved in life. Life is too short to let it all pass you by. And yes, there are times I also have been a big jerk. I do not believe I have been lately, but I sure sounded like I was. It was well intentioned madness. I would have like to have counted King21 into the mix of people whose hand I shook last night and said "good luck LA" to. But it didnt happen. It will when he is ready. Im ok with that. He's going to be alright. He is a good person, surrounded by good people. Just as life is too short to let is pass you by, it is too long to hold grudges. Good luck LA, kick some tail tomorrow night!! We have a hard road ahead, but we didnt get where we are by backing down to anybody. Battle tested and ready for more. GO BEES.
  9. Im going back to short and to the point for a while. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> No sense typing too much out when I trip people up at the beginning of a post and completely lose them for the end of what I am saying. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I wish I could have met more of you last night, Im sure that most of you are not like the lady that lit me up at the end of the awards presentation. hahaha. This week I met Shelby Taylor's Grandfather, and Big Daddy. I would say that is a pretty good week right there. Two great people in my estimation. GO Bees.
  10. Just my opinion: LA's chances hinge on the play from the trio of Ramsey, Smith, and Peterman. CDunn will do what CDunn does. He will get his job done. And this is not to take anything away from the rest of the team either, because there were a lot of people who did very important things last night. There were a couple times where Upperman looked like they were going to scratch back into it, and some fella from the middle of the bench would come up big. But the Ramsey, Smith, Peterman trio will be the difference maker. If Ramsey can stay out of foul trouble he is a difference maker. He does more than take up a lot of space, he knows what to do while he is in that space. And Smith and Peterman are just plain, good ball players. They can really step it up and deliver in crunch time. I dont see the ability to crumble in those guys. I think these 3 guys grew a lot since our first meeting this year, and they were not exactly horrible to begin with. Good luck to LA, I like your chances, but at this time of year, as you know, they are all tough. Go Bees.
  11. I would also like to take a moment to say "well done" to the family and fans of both sides last night. There were a ton of people in that gym, for a fiesty and fiery game, and both sides were very well behaved. I have not heard of one issue from either side. That is a great thing. (well.....aside from the lady who gave me someone elses "whatfor" after the game. hahaha. She was on a mission and had something to say. She was going to make sure she said it even if the person she was saying it to didnt have a thing to do with the problem. Thanks for coming, and for supporting your team) Great job folks. Tough road for the Bees from here. sigh. Go Bees.
  12. John Jenkins made the All-Region team last night. I wish he had been there to pick up his plaque. The good folks of Upperman and LA gave him a very hearty round of applause. We appreciate talent and effort here on the plateau, and it was have been nice to show that appreciation to him in person. Good luck next year at Vandy jj, and congrats on a great career.
  13. BigDaddy, it was great meeting you also. You are a class act, as most LA fans are. Congrats to LA players and fans. I have always been very impressed by they fanatisicm of the LA faithful. You travel well, you support your kids. As I was telling BD last night, Im certain that if you had a kid competing in a putt-putt golf championship you would fill the place just like you did last night. Great stuff. Stay focused, and good luck saturday and monday! and as always, Go Bees.
  14. and for the record: I did not apologize because people were all over me about it. I apologized because I meant it. I will never give fake apologies. I think King21 is a good kid. Great kid. And aside from the 3 or 4 times a year that we meet on the court I am a big fan of LA and its incredible fans. I dont blow smoke about this stuff. I truly mean that. If you are indeed chilled, I will gladly talk. anytime. Again, good luck to your girls this weekend. As for the boys, sigh....we will be back on speaking terms there after the game tomorrow, right? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. WOW, just wow. 1) The Sheryl Yoast reference: That was one of the greatest roles in movie history. That girl was a child genius when it came to sports!!! She was dead on genius. Sorry you folks took that wrong. 2) The pink suit. Come on....have a little fun! I thought it was a funny suit. That is all. 3) I agree that King is a great kid. I thought that we had talked enough that I could joke with him just a bit here. I was wrong. My sincerely apologies. 4) I did not in anyway shape of form disrespect John Jenkins last night. Never. If you think that I did, please explain. I treated him just like everyone else, as he should have been. He is a HS kid, playing HS ball. He gets the same treatment as everyone else. That I make no apologies for.
  16. yeah, thanks. I will be kicking myself for this one for quite a while. Again, good luck to you personally, and to your ladies on Saturday.
  17. P10, If you were able to read the post before it was deleted please understand that it was not said with any ill will. I think you have a good kid. I never, EVER bash these kids, no matter what school they are from. It was not my intention and I guess I just did not convey the tone I was actually thinking as I was typing it out. Please accept my most sincerely apologies. And actually, yes I would like to meet you tomorrow. I would rather apologize in person that over the internet. There also has never been any intention to settle anything with my mouth or otherwise. I come in peace. Good luck the rest of the way. Bill
  18. yeah, i agree. it sounds way too harsh. If King were standing next to me, and I were talking to him about it, with the smile on my face that I had as I was typing it, he would have known that I meant no ill will by it. Hard to convey that over a keyboard. But that is my mistake. I will learn from it (you would think I would have learned from it by now) The problem now is that if I go back and change any of it, it has already been quoted enough times, that it still will never go away. So I would rather just straighten it out with you folks, so you understand that it was said with a smile on my face, it was not meant to be harsh (like it sounded), and it was certainly not whining about the loss. Will certainly say hi the next time.
  19. I would like to second that. Best of luck BD!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. the two things I mentioned had ZERO impact on the game. But it would have really stunk if they did. Im an emotional fella myself. I can see where it comes from. You love the game, you love your school, that team means a lot to you. They worked hard, and they got a great, great win. That is pretty dern exciting. If LA were playing anyone but Upperman I would have been just as excited. Lets get to talking about Saturday. Best of luck to LA.
  21. only saw you twice all game, but you were right in front of me, kind of hard to miss you from there.
  22. Hey BD, if I had known that is who luvhoops was talking to I would have come over to shake your hand. as for King, I guess that did sound harsher than I meant it to sound. Ive got no problem with him, I like him, and as I said in my last post he has reason to be excited. But I would have hated it for him if that T came out. (oh yeah, I would have liked it for the bees, but hated it for him. Good kid. Knowledgable kid. Smart kid. Just dont want him to be THAT kid that everyone points the finger at for doing something that costs those girls a hard fought game)
  23. You have to ask? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  24. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> I only rep 2 schools. The rest of the schools, in the two different conferences, can kiss it. As for the HS game, I am 100% Bees fan, but I really like and respect the LA and JC teams and fans. So, for these next two days we are on opposite sides. When these games are done, whatever the outcome, I will be back to pulling for LA again. GO BEEES
  25. I am completely tempted to screw up the entire game now. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> It will be a great game. GO BEES.
