  1. Anyone heard on what the condition of the field is like at GP? I know we have had plenty of rain and I'm sure they have too. Who does a wet soggy field benefit the most SQHS or GP? Go CHIEFS !!!
  2. Just a reminder there will be a Booster Club Meeting Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the school Cafeteria. Parking passes and season tickets will be available.
  3. Not to worry Dum Dum they may have to sit out the Jamboree but you can bet they will be in the game when they roll into town next Friday night.
  4. Just heard a rumor and want to know if it's true. Heard that if he can get his schedule worked out, we can expect to see Dr Dave out on the Little League practice field coaching as the Madisonville JR's Line coach. Dum Dum, Red nation, Dr Dave is there any truth to this????
  5. Just a little smack talk which I'm not very good at. I hope the best for Sweetwater except for next week. I hope there is a big crowd and it turns out to be a great game.
  6. Just like a Sweetwter Graduate, not smart enough to recognize sarcasm when they see it. I don't care if they watched or not and no matter how boring it might have been to watch the job was getting done. I'll take 4 yards and a cloud of dust anyday over throw it up for grabs and hope you can out-jump the defenders. OOHHH the trash talk begins....*S*
  7. They do play Meigs and the start time is 6:30.
  8. Nope Jefferson county didn't show. The scrimage turned out pretty good. Our defense held Loudon on the 1st series while our offense drove the ball down the field at least a 10 to 12 play drive and then stuck it in the end zone but our PAT was blocked. Loudon then put togehter a drive of thier own and scored and we returned the favor and blocked thier PAT. The varsities played the first two quarters and the JV teams finished out the final two quarters. Our JV team fell behind early as Loudon drove the ball at will down the field and scored the PAT was good this time. Finally our guys got it together and had some nice runs. B. Bell and QB K. Rodgers hooked up a few times for big plays including two TD's although one was called back for an illegal man down field but the other was a nice pitch and catch for the score. The guys went for two and made it. So all in all it was a pretty good scrimage. I hope the fellas from Sweetwater enjoyed the game I know at least half thier team was there along with a coach or two. One week from today, Can't wait! GO CHIEFS !!!
  9. Looking forward to the scrimage tomorrow. Should be interesting and a tough test for the guys. On another note, you have to check out Madden 2009. It's pretty darn cool to look at the teams and see the picture of a Sequoyah Alumnist on the Lions roster. Jerome Felton starting Fullback Detroit Lions. Has his picture and all. Pretty Sweet. I think we've all become Lions fans. GO CHIEFS !!!! GO LIONS !!!!!
  10. J. Black looked really good. He broke one run for about 70 yards and a TD, N. Carson also broke a big one for a TD I think around 60 yards. The defense looked much improved. Intensity was high after the Big kid form Coalfield got hurt. I hope he is ok and our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. They did say it could have been a broken leg. If anyone knows please let us know. Tempers did flare after that and the coaches took thier teams to the side and had a talk with them to calm things down. Well it helped but play was still intense with alot of big hits. The offense looked good. Blocking on the front line looked good. We had nice long runs on both right and left sides of the ball. I seen huge holes that even my fat lard butt could have ran through. Our passing game was better as we completed some passes and had a drop on a 50 + yard pass. I think things are looking up and improving all around. They are using alot of people making sure they have fresh ready to go guys on the field. Keep up the hard work guys it all Starts in another week. GO CHIEFS!
  11. Just wondering how the scrimmage came out? Have been hearing some good things about both teams. Any Info?
  12. Glad to see Cocah Berrong on board. A very good addition to the coaching staff. Just a reminder Tuesday Harriman comes to town. From what I read they are a very good team with alot of speed in the backfield and at the wideout spots. On another note season tickets, reserved seating and parking passes are available. Contact myself or Bob S. for details.
  13. Thursday night, July 31st there will be a Meet and Greet meeting with the coaches. Everyone is invited but parents are encouraged to attend. We will meet in the bleachers on the Home side. Meeting will be after the evening practice session and should start around 7:30 pm. So come on out and meet Coach Satterfield and his staff.
  14. Frank Griffith would be the man to ask anything about Madisonville Football...I can probably get the schedules and scores from 79 to 82 for you. I'll try and remember to do that.
  15. You are right there were a few times last year when our defense was put in a bad situation by our special teams. Don't know who will be doing the punting this year but feel pretty confident C. Bell will be doing the FG's, P.A.T.'s and kickoffs. At one of the practices seen lots of kids out on the field taking snaps and punting the football. Didn't get to see them all but really didn't see a standout. Can't wait to see the kids in pads next week. Team is looking good time to get excited!
  16. I think the old mule is trying to get Dum Dum fired up again.... Ask Coach Martin what he thought of our O-line last year when Meigs rolled into town....
  17. My boy is his counter part on the left side. He can play on both sides with no problem... Seen at practice last night the Jolley kid from Central was lining up at fullback and Jake was in the TB spot. Jolley kid looks good...IMO leave SS where he is. That would give us a right and left guard who both run under 5.0 40 and both can pull and lead block down the field
  18. Practice is at 5:00 pm this evening bbut it is weight lifting only I believe...
  19. Ok guys it's time to talk football. I have information on upcoming scrimmages to pass along. Aug. 5th Harriman at Home at 6:30 pm. Aug. 12th Coalfield Away 5:00 pm. Aug. 14th Loudon Away 6:00 or 6:30 not sure. Then in the Jamboree we will be playing Meigs. So we have a full slate of scrimmages before the regular season starts so make sure and come out and support our kids. Coach S. is working hard on finding asst. coaches I met one of them the other day don't know the status yet so I won't mention his name till it's official. The kids as well as the coaches are working hard to make the best of this upcoming season. I can't wait to see the group in pads hitting. Lets all exercise our right to vote and try and keep this thread all about Sequoyah Football and the upcoming season. GO CHIEFS!!!!
  20. I think Central takes the region. Well balanced and good depth on both sides of the ball. Hard to find a weakness. The 2nd place team will more than likely be Howard. They do have weakness'. Best RB in the region is gone now and t-mac I know they have tallent to replace him but not near the caliber player he was. The Howard defense I think last year had some holes in it as well. They were a young team last year and I'm sure some of this has been addressed. Should be an interresting year to say the least. Now for my sleeper pick. IMO you can't count out Notre Dame. Hard nosed bunch of kids with a good coach. Seemed they only got better as the year went on last year. Thats my top three and I think you will have a battle for the 4th playoff spot.
  21. 42 kids on the field yesterday but only 2 coaches. Coach S. on Vacation and I hope where ever he is he can bring a couple of coaches back with him. Things are not sounding good as far as new hires are concerned. The kids are back and this team can still be successful but they need a full compliment of coaches to keep them learning, hungry and in line.
  22. Is it a violation to seperate backs and recievers from the lineman to do agility drills and conditioning? Maybe I should not have used the term practice.
  23. Yes it was correct. Yesterday there were 25. Coach S. had a few men from UT Martin that live in Maryville come out and help with the backs and recievers while he worked with the Big Uglies. All in all it was a pretty good practice.
  24. According to a source close to Meigs these coaches are a big part of the problems that thier team is having. I truely hope Coach S. can find a good group of asst. to come in here and help. The problem is time. The season is right around the corner and we're running out of time. Also with the kind of money our county pays it's coaches that will make it even more difficult. We have a great bunch of kids out there. They are hungry and eager for a winning season. It will be tough there is no doubt about that. Hopefully after the Dead Period is over we will have more return. Yesterday was a good practice. For the first time in a few weeks I actually seen them smile and laugh. I hope the healing has begun and we can get back to work getting ready for Sweetwater.
  25. He ws hired as the new Head Football Coach at a small College in Mississippi.
