  1. The situation with the gym at South Pittsburg seems to get crazier and crazier. The latest is the people in South Pittsburg want a 5.8 million dollar gym. The gym was budgeted at 4.2 million. Apparently, a 4.2 million dollar gym just isn't good enough. Why? Now, the city has decided to sue to stop all the building projects in the county. Is this just another bump in the road? Or is this the beginning of the end of South Pittsburg High School? What's everybody in the county think? Let's keep it near adult-level so this doesn't get closed down.
  2. I think the Pirates will win this one. Even though they lost the championship game, I think they've found a winning formula -- teamwork, effort, and heart. Let's hope they can keep it up in the region. The biggest problem I see for them in the game, besides the speed of 21st Century and assuming they play like they did on Tuesday, is foul trouble. R. Robinson, Jones, and Starkey will have to play a hands-off game so they can stay in it and contribute. If not, it could be lights out for the season. I'm callin'em out! Those three have got to play their BEST ALL-AROUND (that includes defense, right?) games of the season to move on to the next round!
  3. You're exactly right. I wish I could say you're wrong, but you're dead on.
  4. You're exactly right on this one. The Pirates saw the light (I think) in that championship game and if they can continue that kind of effort and stay out of foul trouble, they're on to the next round. This one will be all about mindset, determination, and "want-to". We'll see on Saturday.
  5. It's coming down to what most thought. Do the Pirates stand a chance of knocking off the big dog in the district? Or is this just a practice game before the Region 3-A Tournament? What do you think?
  6. Yep. It's too bad the people in South Pittsburg can't see the REAL problem with getting this gym deal done. The IQ level of this town has slipped severely in recent months (It wasn't very high to start with).
  7. I was there. It was heated. No police, though. No gym either.
  8. At least you had a gym! It was a really crappy one, but you had one! Why would RH make excuses about the CrackerDome? If anything, it was the ONLY advantage you guys had! It kept CCS from coming in there and mauling you every year and it was the only way you kept other non-Paint Rock Valley teams within 50 points. Has anyone ever seen a basketball game where all the players had to walk the court (because if they tried to run they'd hit a wall before they could stop)? That was the CrackDome. There's no comparison here. Having a craptacular facility is preferable to no facility at all.
  9. Uhhhhhh....have you seen Temple this year? They're not down. They're quite up. And they'd probably win your precious 6AA fairly easily.
  10. Still finished one spot below CSAS. Still have a bye. Still have no gym. When I'm talking about not having a gym, people jump to the conclusion that I'm always referring to the games. What about practice time?? They have to share an elementary school gym with FIVE other teams!!! Practice time has been limited, to say the least, this season.
  11. Even though this game means nothing in the standings, I think its a really important game for both teams. CSAS is riding an undefeated District 6 streak and seem to be paying more attention to the Region tournament than next week's District. A win would confirm they're beliefs, right? But a loss or even a close win might force them to rethink their confidence level. For SPHS, a win would scare the heck out of everyone in the district. It would basically set up a wild tournament next week where anyone and everyone's got a chance at the championship. The Pirates need to put it together and play well to be successful next week. This is a momentum maker or breaker for both teams. How will it turn out?
  12. I'm not saying CSAS's coach won't get it, I'm just saying SP's coach deserves consideration for the unusual circumstances they've gone through this year. They went through all that and still finished where they have for the past two seasons. To me, that's pretty impressive.
  13. nope. sorry. he didn't. CSAS's Dragoo won it last year (I think it was unanimous, but I'm not sure); Robinson from SP won Player of the Year Why?
  14. South Pittsburg's coach should get serious consideration for District COY. Any reasons to dispute that can be beaten with the following: 1. Lost the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder from last year 2. NO GYM! - 85% of games were played on the road 3. Still finished a solid #2 in the district (which is exactly where they've finished the previous two years WITH the school's all-time leader in everything!) 4 NO GYM! NO GYM! NO GYM! That's got to be worth something!
