  1. District 9A goes 3-1 with Community pulling the upset over Clarksville Academy. MTCS and Community square off for the 4th time this season at 6 on Tuesday. Lead and Huntland play at 7:30. Still like MTCS and Lead in the final, but Lead better not overlook Huntland. MTCS will definitely not look past Community.
  2. Seeding holding up so far. #1 MTCS vs #2 Huntland on Huntland's home court. Should be a great game Monday night. #3 Eagleville vs #4 Community will be a great game, as well. I'm going with seeding at this stage, too. MTCS over Huntland and Eagleville over Community. Not to look ahead but I still think 9A has a good shot to take the majority of first round games vs 10A. Time will tell.
  3. Well, one game and one upset already. Moore County upends Forrest. Tuesday night Community vs. Fayetteville at 6. Eagleville vs. Moore County at 7:30. Let the fun begin!
  4. Seedlings for tournament at Huntland H.S. 1. Moore County 2. Forrest 3. Huntland 4. MTCS 5. Community 6. Eagleville 7. Fayetteville Eagleville vs. Fayetteville 1:00 2/11 MTCS vs. Community 6:00 2/13 Huntland vs. Eagleville/Fayetteville winner 7:30 2/13 Moore Cty vs. MTCS/Community winner 6:00 2/16 Forrest vs. Huntland/Eagleville/Fayetteville winner 7:30 2/16 Consolation 6:00 2/18 Championship 7:30 2/18
  5. Final District Standings: 1. MTCS 2. Huntland 3. Eagleville 4. Community 5. Fayetteville 6. Forrest 7. Moore County MTCS and Huntland get byes to the semis and guaranteed Region play. Moore Cty plays Forrest then the winner gets Eagleville. Community plays Fayetteville. Any upsets in the tourney or does all go per seeding?
  6. Anyone know who won the Eagleville/Fayetteville game last night?
  7. Huntland at MTCS tonight with a lot on the line. A Huntland win and they are still in the hunt for first place in 9A. An MTCS win clinches at least a tie for first in the district.
  8. At this point, the battle is for second between Eagleville, Huntland and Community. My money would be on Eagleville. They get after it and have a couple of solid go to guys. I can't figure Huntland out - not sure they have figured themselves out yet. If the big man Smith had more help at Community they could make a run. On the other side of the region, I'm not convinced anyone besides Lead advances and I don't think Lead gets out of region. Wouldn't surprise me to see MTCS and Eagleville play for the region title. But, as they say, we will see...
  9. MTCS @ Eagleville this Thursday, January 12. Against Community, MTCS came out firing. Best 1st quarter effort in a long time. Then, neve looked back. Earlier in the season, they took their foot off the gas against some teams and let them back in it. Not last week. Should be a good game vs. Eagleville.
  10. Grayson Murphy - fantastic player. Plays with more heart and desire than anyone I've seen. Clay Washburn of CPA - best shooter I have seen. The kid can stroke it. No idea why top school's haven't offered him. Great kid, great student, great player. Someone is missing out. Jeremiah Oatsvall - in the clutch, game on the line, he is who I want shooting it. Darius Garland - best overall player I have seen. Went to the NXTLVL tourney at CPA in Nashville last week. Garland was as good - or better - than anyone there, including the kid from GA signed by Duke. Most underrated player - Bo Hodges from Maplewood. Crazy athletic but can really handle and shoot as well. I am sure there are lots of great players that I haven't seen, as well.
  11. Happy 2017 everyone. Swami says MTCS shakes off the Christmas break rust and gets both wins. Everyone is healthy now so full roster is back in action. By 9 over Community and by 3 over Eagleville.
  12. Getting out to big leads but not putting people away when they have the chance. Going deep down the bench to get players some experience. Doing what they have to do to win, but will have to do more against good teams. Last year's team gelled after Christmas. We will see this year. If they play together and get that killer instinct, they can be really good. I still think MTCS is the team to be in 9A. As an aside, #10 on Forrest is a great young player. Kid has heart and skills.
  13. 1. MTCS 2. Community 3. Huntland 4. Fayetteville 5. Eagleville 6. Moore County 7. Forrest Just my 2 cents... May not be worth much more than that.
  14. Congrats to Mitchell on the win today. Well-coached team and #2 is a player. They would have to be the favorite over Hampton, but should be a good game. Very proud of MTCS. Mitchell knew they were in a game. The future is bright for MTCS, losing only 2 seniors who play significant minutes, although 1 is their post. He will leave a hole to fill. Good luck to Mitchell tomorrow. Good luck to MTCS next season!
  15. You are right about Jackson. Great player and game changer. Hope he heals completely and gets the chance to play at the next level.
  16. Annnnnnd, we're back to my original point. Go back and look at the teams MTCS beat after they beat LEAD. Not evidence of a bad team. Not that it will change your infinite opinion. I mean, you have "hoops guy" in your name. You must be right. Good luck to your team at state.
  17. Great logic. Tons of bad teams make it to state every year. SMH
  18. At least I can maintain a consistent thought, which seems to be a challenge for you. Now pay attention. You were talking about LEAD and all of the excuses of why they lost. By the way, just say your dog ate your homework, because one excuse is as good as another. Anyway, after several "excuse posts" you then made a fairly ridiculous comment about LEAD losing their best player (see note about dog eating homework) and how MTCS then went to state. The point being, MTCS beat a lot of teams as good or better than LEAD, with or without their best player, to make it to state. Give credit where credit is due. This has nothing to do with Mitchell.
  19. Wow, that's awesome. So, after LEAD's one-man team got beat for the very first time all year, they cancelled the rest of the Region Tournament and sectional and just put MTCS in the bracket. Now that is some clout! Wait...., you say LEAD actually lost other games this year WITH their best player? And MTCS went on to beat 27-3 Huntland (with Mr. Basketball finalist Kobe Foster playing)? And they also beat Nashville Christian who had just beaten LEAD? And then they beat a 25-5 Columbia Academy team who went to State last year? Yeah, there's no way MTCS could be playing really well and peaking at the right time. It's a string of flukes. Good call.
  20. Curious, how many times have you seen both teams, or either team, play?
  21. Hopkins won regular season MVP. Post for Huntland won tourney MVP - and it was well-deserved. Huntland, Community and MTCS all advance. Should be a great rematch between Huntland and MTCS.
