  1. Well, I am a little disappointed in your opinions of some of the other districts such as 10AAA. Dickson had a bad night, WC is playing really good right now, if anyone plays Beech any tougher than Rossview, I would like to be there to see it. Dickson has won 30 games against some really good teams. Rossview won 27 and have beat Riverdale and some other great teams. Yes, they came up a little short and were the losers in their region game, but watching that game, if the girl who hit the "running bunt" which was a ball hit off the end of the bat not a bunt, hits it inches higher and the 3rd baseman catches for a line drive, it is a double play and game is over. But that didn't happen, not because Beech is great and Rossview is a loser but because a 16 or 17 year old young lady got a little luck from the softball gods and made a good play. Those two teams were about as equal as any teams I have seen all year. And if you would talk to fans from both schools, I think both teams earned a little respect for the other on that night. Both teams played like it was the state championship and it may be the toughest game Beech will have the rest of the season. They may win it all and would deserve it if they do. But all in all, those 2 teams are both deserving of a little more respect. But then again, you think "respect" is just a song on the juke box down at the pool hall.
  2. In the past we have had teams that may have been on the border line as to if they were Gold or Silver, but we have always let the coaches make the final call on where their team plays. When teams starting sending in their entry forms, there was a lot of discussion about Mt Juliet and a couple other AAA schools wanting to play down. We as the MTSCA felt very strong about wanting these teams to move up, but because no guide lines were in force, we felt opligated to follow the coaches of the teams request. We have decided because of all of the strong feelings in the organization, that from now on the governing body of the MTSCA and the tournament committee will have the option of moving someone up or down to either keep too strong of teams from playing down or to even out the brackets . As far as Montgomery Central goes, they were where they should have been, they just played an exceptional tournament. They placed 3rd in their pool and came back to win it all. This is exactlly what this division of the tournament is all about. Last year, Clarksville Northeast did the same thing and won the silver division, this year they decided to play Gold and had a good tournament but found it to be a little tougher road, even with as good of a team as they have. It is a hard call but sometimes when you have been really good for a long time and you are down a little, you may still be pretty good.
  3. Montgomery Central won silver over Mt. Juliet 3-2 Riverdale won Gold over Camden 3-0
  4. MTSCA On behalf of the MTSCA, we would like to thank everyone for a great weekend. We have given over $20,000.00 in scholarships over the past few years and should be able to give 10 or more scholarships again this year. The weather was great and the teams had a great day on Saturday to play. If you want to check out the brackets with scores through the final games in Gold and Silver go to our website at www.mtsca.org go below the article on Julie Towers and find the Gold Bracket 2 and Silver Bracket 2 for the scores and winners. Also the Silver pool games have scores and the Gold should be finished tomorrow. If link does not work just type in www.MTSCA.org

    MTSCA Tournament

Our team from PA. had to drop out because their season doesn't open until the following weekend. We have room for one more team. I need a Gold team and one of our silver teams to move up to Gold to make the brackets even for our fields. Please help us out with this. This is a great tournament and in order for your seniors to have a chance at the scholarships your team must play in the tourney.

    MTSCA Tournament

We have picked Westmoreland who wants to play in the silver division. That gives us 40 teams again but I still need one of our silver teams to move up to Gold to make the tournament more even.

We have had 1 silver team have to drop out, so we have room for 1 more team. It really needs to be a Gold team if possible.

    MTSCA Tournament

We are full, if your team is listed in the list above and you have not filled out form on www.MTSCA.org please do so and mail in your entry fee. If the team from Penn. cannot come we would have 1 Gold team open up. We also really need one of the silver teams to move up to gold, Sycamore has already but we need one more. Thanks, Phil

    MTSCA Tournament

Thanks to Sycamore for moving up to Gold, we still need 1 more Gold team to complete our tournament. As of now we have 24 Silver and 15 Gold but we have 1 silver and 1 gold from PA. that are still working out details if they can't work it out those spots could come back open. But we are almost full.

    MTSCA Tournament

We now have a total of 39 teams. 24 Silver and 15 Gold. We have 2 teams from Pittsburg, Pa. that are checking to see if they are coming that week or not. What we would like is 24 silver and 16 Gold teams. If one team from Pittsburg is gold we would need 1 more gold or have some of the teams already in silver to move up to gold and leave room for a silver team to take their place. If any silver team would like to move up, you can post it here or email me at phillip.burkhart@cmcss.net. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  15. Coaches, I have been going to Gulf Shores for years and playing great competition during our spring break and giving the girls some time off also. But this year I am having a hard time finding games due to the new Alabama rule of 18 games on their schedule. By the time most of the teams play their district they don't have room for out of state teams. We are going down the week of March 30, 31 and April 1,2,3. I like to play on Mon. Tue. and Wed. and give the girls and their familes the rest of the time to relax. If any other Tennessee team is going down and can't find games, maybe we can play in Gulf Shores and at least get some game time in. Last time I went we did play a team out of Ky. because they couldn't find games either. If you are interested please email me at Phillip.burkhart@cmcss.net or call 931-216-0740. Or let me know on this board and I can get in contact with you if I still don't have enough games. Thanks, Phil Burkhart Rossview Lady Hawks

  22. It is unfortunate that I must respond to a threatening email posted on coacht this last week. As President of the Middle Tennessee Softball Coach??™s Association I feel it is my duty to post a response in defense of our organization. As many of you know, we are in the process of nominating and electing new board members. I can only assume foulball76 is attempting to position himself for political purposes in his attempt to cast doubt on the character of my good name by associating me with someone on the Coacht website called MrNoitAll. I am highly offended by the accusations and the way in which this snake has tried to defame the President of MTSCA. Foulball76 claims to be a ???friend??? to me. I can not believe anyone who says they are a friend would make a post on Coacht using a person??™s real name in what I consider a lame attempt at defaming my character. Why did this ???friend??? not pick up the phone and ask me if they had doubts? Wouldn??™t that be what a real friend would do? For the last several years I have had the privilege of working with a group of outstanding coaches to help develop this organization into something all high school coaches could be proud of. MTSCA has given over $30,000 dollars in scholarships, trophies, tee shirts, certificates and donations to needy causes under my tenure as President. To our constituents, I apologize for this person??™s stupidity and can only hope the Organization??™s good name is not tainted. MTSCA has provided many wonderful opportunities for our young athletes and it has been a privilege to serve as President all these years. It is sad to think that after all the time, energy and love I have given to MTSCA over these last several years ??“ it only takes one person to cast doubt on all the good things I have done. To Foulball76 I can only say ??“ ???with a friend like you who needs enemies!!??? You are not my friend. My true friends and family are hurt by your words and I can only hope you do not gain what you seek. For zachsdad and hawksoftball who good naturedly kidded me about my grammar - this letter has been edited by my wife. I agree with the people who have responded to MrNoitAll??™s post who have said, ???let??™s have a great rest of the season!??? John Conditt MTSCA President
