  1. turbyfill will suprise some people. he is very knowledgable of the game. i am confident that cloudland will not be the same team that they were last year.
  2. no doubt about it, it would be great if ned stayed. he is a good role model for the kids and a heck of a coach! i hope he stays a lander.
  3. peolpe have told me that the hampton teams of the 60's were the biggest thing to ever happen to these parts. i've heard that schools of all sizes would come from everywhere to try to beat them. and when they wasent beating larger school they lived in the gym. it sounds like in the hoosiers movie when their little highschool takes on schools over twice their size with about 7 gym rats on their team and wins the indiana state championship. i would give anything to had been around in those days.
  4. i believe that someone who had ties with the coach seen them play over there and talked them into moving in with someone from elizabethton in order for them to play ball, but i'm not sure. behoopy, phillips was a good choice on your list from hampton. i've only heard good things about him, heck if you had to name an all time carter county team for football or baseball he would have to be on those teams as well. what about jerry white one of the few hampton players to have ever had the privelage of playing division one basketball at the university of south carolina? i dont think there is any question about the best player ever from unaka, hands down aaron dugger if you ask me. i have seen him play several times and it will probably be a while before carter county sees another player with his ability on the basketball floor. what about the all time best teams in carter county, elizabethton in the old days, the unaka teams with dugger, happy valley and hampton in the 60's and 70's or hamptons teams in the early 80's?
  5. i think willie malone played at hampton if i'm not mistaken
  6. ellis went to DB... who would your starting 5 be? i heard that you all had a couple of good players from the virgin islands in the 80's
  7. i'm not very familiar with many of the older players from schools in carter county other than hampton. who would your all-time all-carter county team be?
  8. it will be tough to find anyone who will please the people of elizabethton.
  9. he has no clue what he is talking about. next years juniors were pitiful in 8th grade, i seen them play a few times. i do hope they get better but as of now i dont think there is much hope after this season with irick james bentley lunsford etc. i'm ready for football to get here
  10. yea youre right you really dont know what you are talking about. If they dont go to state this year it could be a while before hampton will have the talent again.
  11. i agree i like the old school coaches also. i just think it would have been better to get a younger coach at hampton, like ned or carpenter that will be there for years to come and build the program up to where it once was. of course tolley should have been the first choice and i'm sure they didnt offer it to dugger because they never do which is crazy. Len is probably one of the best coaches in upper east tennessee and he cares about the kids other than on the basketball court.
  12. i didnt say it was a good idea, but i'm pretty sure that white will be back at hampton and ned is going to elizabethton. the best thing that cloudland could have done after ned left was hire carpenter. i like bud though and i would like to see him back in coaching.
  13. j. white will be at hampton, ned will be head coach at elizabethton... i havent heard the whole thing about oliver and bud going to cloudland but i'm sure he will just bring more success there if they go... bud deserves another chance, he's a good coach and a good person, he just didnt have a good oppurtunity to show it the first time. ned would have been a good fit for hampton but i guess it just wasent meant to be.
  14. i dont think elizabethton would be in the mix for ned. i may be wrong tho. i think that hampton could achieve big things with a coach like ned. i just hope that they offer it to him because he deserves it.
  15. i think everyone knows whether they like him or not that lynn dugger is one of the best coaches in the area other than tolley. both lynn and ned should be offered the job before j.r.
  16. i dont think that you can just throw 5 football players in there on the court when they have no experience and expect to have a successful season. you have no idea what you are talking about.
  17. i agree with you somewhat, the alliance thing is just for fun... we get along with cloudland better than any other school so i thought it would be kinda fun, but hampton is underachieveing badly i have heard that a couple of the players wont be playing this coming season, because of the problems within the program. you can tell that the ones that are playing dont have their hearts in it, that is kinda sad. i havent given up on my team though and i dont think it is over for them, they could have a bright future. you never know what could happen between now and basketball season. it would help if some changes were made , but with the program the way it is as we speak i dont know too many people who would want the coaching job to be honest with you. but win or loose i'll still support the dogs....
  18. i am just curious, is d.j. shannon getting looks from any colleges. i've seen him play a couple of times and he looks like the type of player that alot of small schools would be interested in.
  19. I blame Gordon for that because he was responsible for it happening even if it was 9 yrs ago, and that is not the reason I don't like UH's fans or players that are there now; even though they haven't shown much class the last couple of years. I just think that they are still arrogant and think that they are superior to everybody in the county. I don't know if all of them are rich or not, but the ones i have been around have been pretty rude, and acted like a bunch of rich snobs; there is nothing wrong with having money it is the attitude that you show towards others when you have money. This years players are not as bad as last years but i still don't like the coach or the way that he allows his players to act. the topic is over, wartburg is going to murfreesboro and UH sitting at the house!
  20. everybody told me that gordon was the coach so i am pretty sure that it was him.
  21. i think if cloudland can go out there and play their game and stay composed, they can play with anybody in 1a.
  22. what about when UH's players walked in hamptons gym in 98' wearing rain coats and rain boots making fun of the flood that nearly wiped out our whole town... they shows ALOT of class
  23. i think in 98' when gordons players walked in to the game in rain boots and rain coats making fun of the flood in hampton shows what kind of a person he is...
