  1. Good job Humbolt...Good luck at UT Smith, God knows they need it. We have said it all along, if Giles county had a coach with all that talent they would be unstoppable. Discipline goes a long way in the win and loss column. See ya in the boro. William H. Bonnie
  2. The fact remains that Giles won the basketball game and was tested. Waverly is not the better team, but played well enough for those on here to give them credit. To say that Giles simply had a "bad game" is a little demeaning. Waverly played their butts off and came up short to better talent. With that said, I can tell you that Smith is an incredible talent, but by seeing him play numerous times I do know that he needs to improve a few aspects of his game in order to become a legit force in D-1. First he needs to have a better court demeanor, second his outside shot is suspect, and third his work ethic at both ends needs to improve. When you are 6'6" and have a 40" vertical it is easy to look dominant. I wish him the best and all others in Giles good luck with Humbolt. I hope you guys realize that you played a quality opponent in Waverly and leave it at that. William H. Bonnie
  3. Waverly coaching staff got a BS tech early and had to sit down....and Holt is no great coach....anyone could run the Kentucky Derby with stud horses!! As always....I'M OUT William H. Bonnie KING REX
  4. Why hate???? Just take it for what it is...a team with an extremely limited enrollment made a great run with one of the best players this area has seen in a long time. Let it be...why not say, "Congrats to McEwen on a good season and leave it at that?" Must be one of those people that got beat by McEwen or one that wished he could have played for such a team. 5. It is amazing that everyone is concerned about an overrated and lazy player like Tyler Smith. Smith has some great talent, however, it will never be utilized until he realizes that basketball is more than dunks and being the best thing in Pulaski since Sun Drop. Sure, Smith is good but I've seen the greats in this area and he is not in the top 10, much less, comparable to Lebron. He couldn't hold Ron Mercer's jock, never could matchup with Marcus Maybin, Hayslip, Vincent Yarbrough....need I go on. They beat Waverly...that is true. My question is this: Are you proud to beat a team that has no college signees and very little hype, with the so called next Lebron by a few points? Well, if that is the case then good luck with a better Humbolt squad. Not hating on Giles because they are fun to watch, but it is just amazing at the basketball ignorance shown by a few on this thread. Also, the 40 year olds waving their keys at a bunch of 17 year olds having a good time supporting their team......classy. Enjoy the region championship because that will be as far as GC goes. I'M OUT William H. Bonnie KING REX
  6. First and foremost congrats to Coach Rawlings for bringing home the district championship to Waverly. He and his staff have been great all season and deserve every honor they have gotten. Secondly, the tiger nation is very proud. Great game, great record, and great basketball. As an alum, I can honestly say that this year Tiger team is worthy of every praise that they will and have received. Finally, to the "Blue Mist" (borrowing a phrase from Kentucky fans) what a great job supporting your team all year long. Since 1995-96 there hasn't been a consistant student crowd........until now. You guys are awsome. Josh15 saw you there and you were on point.....HL keep up the good work. It is a long trip to Franklin but I hope the "Blue Mist" will spread thick to Page and engulf all the opponents!!! AS ALWAYS.... WILLIAM H. BONNIE REX CHAPMAN 3
  7. Willy, McEwen has only dropped one game this year. A stunner at home to Houston County. Fouls all over the place.....very poor game for both squads. McEwen is still the team to beat in their district. Region play will be tough. How is SF doing?? Haven't heard from you in a while. Take it easy in Maury. William H. Bonnie
  8. Thanks for the info Coach T. You run a great site. Keep up the good work. Hope your family is doing fine. God Bless you and your son. Rexchapman3
  9. Don't you think that an undefeated record (at the time of the post) and beating two of the teams that were higher constitutes controling their ranking by wins and losses. Don't get on my case. I simply asked a question with and open mind for discussion. I didn't ask for a sarcasm forum. William H. Bonnie
  10. In all reality Houston Co. plays harder against McEwen than any other team. As for the comments from Coach Ross....I wouldn't expect anything less. He is a class act who would never put the blame of a loss on anyone other than himself first and his players second, and lets the game do the talking. Refs have a job to do and just like all of us sometimes they do well and other times they don't. Players win ball games. Tough luck M-Town, however this maybe the spark that ignites a fire in each person and player from McEwen. As for the NCS03 comment, be cool, not everyone from McEwen is unrelenting in their dislike for NCS. I'm cool with it. Congrats Houston Co. on a big win and thanks to all of the people that explained the ranking system, although I am still not sure about the logic behind putting McEwen in the western section. ???? William H. Bonnie
  11. Why is McEwen not in the top 25 rankings in Middle Tennessee A basketball. They are undefeated and have beaten 9th ranked East Robertson at East. They have beaten 22nd Houston Co. at Houston Co. Is this a lack of respect or is there something I don't know about? How good is McEwen? 12. Incredible....acurate but incredible.
  13. No so sure about that last statement. The student section does an adequate job getting rowdy but the rest of the fans were a bit dull. When Wavo played Jackson Northside the fans didn't even get out of their seats to cheer their teams arrival on the court. Seems odd. Granted the game was a blowout but the score was even at that point. Hope it was just a Monday night thing. Looking forward to the Friday night matchup with Harpeth. Oh, in regards to those who question the 2 point victory in Pleasent View and why it was no more here is the 411. Sycamore is one of the toughest places to play that I have ever seen. It's small, loud, and the band is flat out annoying (which is great if you are from Sycamore, but coming in there as an opposing team is tough). Waverly drove nearly 2 hrs. on a bus to get there. Sycamore has some pretty good talent and they are driven by the home crowd. I say when Sycamore comes to Waverly they will get beat around 15. Simply not as good a team as Waverly. However, at Pleasant View they are as good as anybody else. Good luck to all in the District except whoever plays the TIGERS next. YOURS TRULY BRUSHY BILL ROBERTS
