Richland over MTP by 5. Being athletic and throwing up bricks can only get a team so far. CA-Cully game is an interesting one. CA is the only team in the district that Cully hasn't had a lead on in the 4th qurater. CA won both games by double digits. BUT....that was in the season and there is no telling what Slatton has come up with. I think this game boils down to a few things. Can Williams get back on track and start scoring again? Can Upshaw and Walton stay on fire? Can Pilkington rebound from a bad game the other night? (getting in foul trouble mainly) Any one of those 3 questions will mostly likely determine a winner. Should be a good game. Within 4 either way.

Ok lets get it going. Who ya got tomorrow night and why?

Good basketball game tonight. Back and forth the whole game. SF played well early but seemed to get tired a little down the stretch. Upshaw stole the show with 21 points, 18 of which came after halftime. Walton had a big game as well, scoring the first 9 points for Cully. Oh yeah....THIS IS OUR HOUSE Just kidding. Great atmosphere tonight.

BobBBucks I can promise you that any player who might be on the floor tonight for Cully does not want to lose to SF, same can be said for the SF players. Rest assured both teams smell blood in the water and want to knock the other one out of the tournament before they even get started. As far as being out of focus, that is why I said that the cheering sections may play a big role in the outcome of this game. The team that keeps their composure down the stretch will win. The Community game was close the first half but Cully ended up winning by 12 or so. It was Community's senior night and they came out pumped and ready to play. The Loretto should have ended differently. Cully had a double digit lead late and put it on cruise control on offense instead of keeping the pedal to the floor and closing the deal. Loretto hit some tough, strongly contested shots to close the gap.

Oh yeah you're right. The Culleoka seniors want this to be their final game as a Warrior and be the first senior class at Cully to not make it to Region in...oh I don't know A DECADE!?! You sure hit the nail on the head with that one.

This game will most likely come down to the wire and be decided by some small detail. Cheering section maybe? Very physical low scoring game. Also I think that free throws and foul trouble will play a major part in this game. I look for Goldman to be the difference maker. Lets face it...neither of these teams like each other and tonight could get pretty ugly with a trip to Region on the line. Should be more than fun to watch. Cully by 4. Go get em' boys!

As much as I hate to agree with wildcatblood, I have to side with him on this one. If you know as soon as you read this stuff that you are going to get mad, why even bother?! And on top of that why bring up things that are over and done with that are only going to cause more trouble. That would be part of the reason on hate coacht would it not? If the kid really did steal something (not saying he did, not saying he didn't) then yes that means he is a theif aka someone who steals things... I understand that people make mistakes but he should know better. Bottom line. Why call out a teacher and a school on **COACH**T??? Isn't that what the "sound off" section in the Daily Herald is for? Sheesh.

TSSAA States that: When is an inbound pass called for five seconds? The offensive team has five seconds to put the ball into play from out of bounds. Once the offensive player who is inbounding the ball takes control of the ball after a basket or takes control of the ball from the referee, the five second count starts. The five second count stops once it leaves the inbounder’s hands—not when it is touch on the court. So goes to show the refs need to be sat down and read some rules again....This caused the coach to get T'd up and changed momentum. Not surprised that some (not all) of the ref's around here didn't know that rule. Nothing with the TSSAA surprises me anymore.

I think what Willie is trying to say is that he is glad 23 played in the CA game because he would rather lose with him on the floor than win with him in street cloths sitting on the end of the bench. Just him being a good competitor. That way people (not just MTP fans) can't say "MTP would have won if he had played blah blah blah". In my opinion CA is the much better team with or without 23... Yes Loretto did beat Cully last night in triple OT. Cully blew 8-10 point leads in both the 4th quarter of regulation and the 1st OT. Couldn't hit free throws. And it didn't help that the best free throw shooter (Upshaw) fouled out with a minute and a half left in the forth. Got to give it to Loretto though, they hit shots with people in their face.

This game will be a war! Should be fun to watch. Better have security on hand. Security....Is that making some kind of statement?? No statement. Just saying that having been at the 2 games between these 2 teams this year and taking into account what happened after the game in SF, it could get pretty crazy. Not saying it will but it is very possible.

Must have been a fluke. Looked back to normal tonight. Competition probably had something to do with it. Yeah either that or not having practice or even a shoot-a-round for the next 4 days after playing well....or maybe a combo of both. It's your call.

Just heard. Congrats to Ca. Did #23 play for mtp? Of course he did. They not going to make him sit out the biggest game of the year thus far. He will probably be punished in a game with not as much on the line....if he is even punished at all.

Never said it was a statement of change. I just thought since I bash them alot when they play terrible I should give them props when they play well. Could the other night be a one time thing??? Who knows. Guess we will find out.

They definately took a couple steps in the right direction the other night. Best game they have played in probably 2 years or more. They picked a great time to get hot. Maybe they can make it last. But when they win 1 out of 19 games...it's kinda hard to say things could be changing just yet.

The girls looked like a TOTALLY different team last night. They didn't turn the ball over, made shots, boxed out, got rebounds, hustled and most importantly they played as a team. Best game they have played this year by far and the score showed it. I think the final was something like 48 to 23. Hope they keep it up.

They definately seem to be improving. That #1 kid (I think) can really shoot. Districts should be interesting.

Cully narrowly escapes with a W tonight. Sloppy game all the way around. Cornersville having an 11 to 3 foul advantage in the first half didn't help much either. And 2 of the 3 fouls called on Cornersville were techs. You can't make me believe they only fouled 1 time in 16 minutes of basketball.....

By JV I was meaning players that, before this year, hadn't seen the court much since middle school. They did good to keep Richland to a 10 point lead at half. Had the seniors not got in foul trouble (some calls were.....questionable. I'm not sure Upshaw had a true foul all night) this game would have turned out differently. If I'm Richland I do not want to play Cully again.

Why? Nevermind, just realized the game was scheduled for Friday. Game was moved because of the threat of bad weather on friday. Richland beat Cully by 4 tonight. Richland hitting free throws in the 1st half was the difference. Walton and Pilkington each had 3 fouls in the 1st quarter, along with Upshaw having 2. Cully's jv played most of the 2nd quarter.

The Cully/Cornersville game has been moved to Thursday night. Girls game begins at 5.

speaking of "victory fans" culleoka sure seems to have a lot more fans posting when there winning every game... I don't think it's as much that as it is the ones who posted have gotten older and don't have as much time on their hands anymore.
