I see where Sevier Co beat GP by 20 tonight and Central beat Sevier. Co by 20 a week ago

Where it does look good for Central, be careful because matchups matter.  Coffee was a matchup problem for Central but it was a good game till the later part of 4th.  Central will for sure be battle tested.

  2. McMinn Central vs. Cookville ended up being a good one.  Central was the better team, but struggled putting the ball in the hole, with the exception of Mo. Masingale.  Freshman Masingale hit 2 big 3's in third qtr.  Everytime Central would extend the lead, Cookville would hit big shots.  Cookville D is in your face.  Central D was real good too.

I'm excited about this game.  If Meigs County  has been in the weight room, and they have had a good conditioning program, then they will give the Bobcats a decent fight.  However, if they have not been in the weight room, during the season, then they will be hurting come the 4th quarter.

Has anyone noticed how the Bobcats Kickoff team always runs to the goal line, even when Chase kicks it into the end zone.  Which is every kick.  If you have not noticed it, then watch tomorrow night, and you will see the guys jog to the the goal line, after the ball goes into the end zone. I noticed it back in the spring, and I have watched them do it every game.  Keep that in mind when you watch other teams, and see if they do that.

Also, when you are on the road, and you arrive at the Stadium, look to see how much wear their practice field has on it.  Check if the equipment looks used, or brand new.  That will tell you how much work they have been putting in.  Something I heard Coach OC mention one time, when he was talking with the Coaches, during an away game.  Impressed me that he thought of that.

Now, I am not saying Meigs has not been working.  You don't make it this far without putting in work.  That was just a thought that came to me, and wanted to share it.  I am hoping for a great night of football, and everyone who will be on the road tomorrow night, you will be in my prayers for a safe trip.

I enjoy the close ball games, and I am sure most fans do.  Their is nothing better than a close football game, and I am hoping that Meigs gives the Bobcats a run for their money tomorrow night, but in the end the Bobcats pull it out.  Go Bobcats!

One thing about Meigs is they will play their tales off to the last whistle.  They are hard nosed, and will play hard every down.  No prediction on this game, but I know the fight will be there.

McMinn kept their starters in the game down 70-29 — which is fair — it was their last game in a Charger uniform.

Giles County began rotating several backups in the game, but a big hit by a GCHS starter drew a personal foul. That kid was promptly taken out of the game to avoid a messy situation and cheap suspension in meaningless minutes. The next play, MC passed to the sideline and a GC DB made a tackle. Who knows what was said, but he was shoved to the ground by several MC sideline players. Offsetting penalties and that player, too, was taken out of the game to avoid a second penalty.

At this point, with the clock running, the game should be over. But with tempers now flaring, McMinn takes a timeout with eight seconds left for some reason. Their coach rallies the entire team onto the field for a mass huddle.

And decides to run one last play.

The GCHS radio announcer @wneely said it best: "just remember folks, whatever happens next... the McMinn coach could have let this clock run out."

They run a draw and the standout rusher for McMinn is largely allowed to run downfield as GCHS did not want to breathe on him and risk a personal foul and ejection. But a GCHS defender made a legal tackle on the sideline and it appeared as if the MCHS RB was injured on a final, meaningless play of his senior year. I hope he's ok.

Both the tackler and another GC defender ran over to console and check on the young man, but with the game now over, MCHS promptly walked off the field. The coaches did shake hands, but it was a very weird end to an otherwise fun game.

MCHS has a really impressive offense, but they had no answers for the Giles offense.

Giles has a pretty good team.  MCentral has been suspect all year, with a good offense.  #11 for Central told me all the players for Giles were respectful all game.  The last play the Giles player pushed #11 out of bounds and he gave him a shove back. Not much more to it than that, I have the video if you want to see it, No other players got involved.  Point is, I feel some of you are making a bigger deal than it was.  Good luck the rest of the way.  Alcoa is a beast.

Yeah I have heard about her. Y'all have been good a long while. Johnny has done a great job there. How is Alcoa this year?? Any other teams that can challenge you and Gatlinburg Pittman?? South Green?? Meigs??

Honestly, I don't see anyone that can stay with us in the east.  Bradley and McMinn Central will be a great game.

H2O and Giles are nowhere near the same talent level. The only reason our game was even close is due to Giles turning the ball over several times.

I wouldn’t expect that this week if I were McMinn.

    Giles 56

    MC 21

May be true, and again I have no clue where this game is going to go.  You may be correct, however Central had 3 turnovers as well.  One of the turnovers was in the first quarter that would have pushed the score to 21-6.

Central did not utilize #11 in that Meigs game.

I'm not a Giles County fan at all but don't think Central has played a tougher schedule. Has Central played a team like Page or Hardin County, I don't think so.  Giles and Watertown aren't even at all Giles beat Watertown by 16 points at Watertown in a game the Coach said they played like crap and Central squeaked one out last week by 3 at home.  Giles isn't an easy place to play either.  Just think your score prediction is way off when Central hasn't put 62 points up all year

Central actually had opportunities to blow this game out of the water.  Threw an interception  on the 5, and had 2 more turnovers.  If Gabe plays, he needs  as many touches as he can get, then spread the love.  Defensively, I would look for some of my bigger guys to go both ways at times to get some meat filling those holes, especially off tackle.  The defense stepped it up when they needed Friday, which is a good sign.  No clue how this game will go.

  8. Alcoa is a top notch program, so is Maryville.  Look at their non region schedule, they're not hiding from anyone.  Other schools can choose to move up to avoid them if they wish.  My son was put out by them in the playoffs his sophomore year, was a heck of a game.  It was fun to watch our small communities (McMinn Central) play them.  We played them tough, but came up short.  No one whined or complained, just wished them Tornado's good luck.

I'll go with McMinn Central in this matchup. I know their defense has struggled, but their offense will be too much for a Watertown team that's not as good as their former solid teams of the past.

Do any Central fans know the status of seniors Masingale and Harbison?  Them playing would make a big difference in the makeup of Central's team in the playoffs.

    No Masingale

Tellico outscored them at first 14-18 I wouldn't say that that's from anywhere at anytime. I'm a central fan too I'm just being  realistic after last night  I'm not sure they'll beat Chattanooga Central if they keep playing this way.

I saw a lot of young helments out there defensively for the Chargers in the 2nd half.  Offense was just not in rythmn first quarter and somewhat of 2nd.  Tellico did a great job.

Looking at the top ten from last year, I'm curious what teams bring back this year.

1A - I feel like Waynesboro starts out as the favorite in 1A if they didnt loose much. McKenzie will still be good but you can't replace what they loss last year and expect to be as good, Even with Davis healthy. Sounds like several more took a small step back due to graduating starters in the top ten. I think a couple will go deeper this year. Sounds like Pickett County and South Fulton will be bringing everyone back.

2A - McMinn, Gibson County, and Gatlingburg are my 2A favorites. I dont think the McMinn team lost much. They played SF for the Junior high championship a few years ago. That same team is seniors now.

3A - I saw 3A Jackson South Side play this summer. Looked like they lost some from last year's championship game. Not sure if Upperman or LS lost anything.

4A - Bradley and Bearden 4A. Not sure If Bartlett lost anyone from last years team either

Centrals offensive and defensive lines have both been a pleasant surprise this year considering they lost everyone from last year. Especially the offensive line. Coming into the Meigs game the O line had only gave up two sacks all year. It’s not that Central is that bad it’s Meigs is just that much better.

I would like to some of those lineman going both ways.  I think it would be a game changer.  Make it a rotation.
