Smith County performed really well under the circumstances. They ended up playing 2 extra games before the tournament started. This was due to the fact of 1 team not showing up at all, and another not showing up on Sat. The Owls took 14 players, and 13 on Sat. due to dehydration. They were on of the only teams there that was not 2 platooning. The Owls passing game looked good, and the defense got better as the days went by. P.S.-Byrnes, SC QB was the difference of the whole tourny. The best we saw, with the Pulaski Academy QB being a close second.

How will the Owls respond to the loss of 13 Seniors. Can they play with this 5A school.

The TC coaches were at the clinic, they knew about the all-state team, and the voting. They were more worried about the ring. They got it. Relax. The AP All- State team will be out around X-mas, and your boys will be on it. However the TC player that made the TFCA team a couple of years back would not think that this team is an absolute joke.

Very rarely do I post anything on this board. I have read many good posts about the SC Football teams and players that I grew up looking at as hero's. I think that we are all comparing apples and oranges. You could have 50 opinions about who was or is the best. One thing is for sure, if you have ever put on the black and gold, suited up on Friday night, or just an avid support much respect goes out to the ones who respect what SCP is all about. The great thing about SC is the support that we get from eveyone. (Except the Fair Weather Fans0 Cousin Eddie-I think that you should read the shirt of 04! TRADITION DOESN'T GRADUATE=Tradition is mentioned often these days at SC One thing is for sure. The stories of the GREAT Scott Juice Dirkson Lives ON! Many SC Football players gather yearly and watch his old highlight film. His MR. FOOTBALL Trophy is displayed in a brand new case outside the Cafe. His number is retired, and his jersey hangs in the SC Equipment room. I even have his new Cd, his rap name is DRAMA! Don't believe rumors. I eat, breathe, sleep, and eat SC Football. The many memories of the past still live on. We try to make more each day. BTW, if i was picking talent, I wouldn't pick many of the 04 team. They were not very talented. Many of the teams they lined up against were more talented. Many other SC Teams were more talented. One thing that I will say. I will bet that No other SC team has worked harder. I will bet the farm that no other team has had more heart. They went to work each day, with what they had, but they went to work together. Keep this thread going, it is great to read each day. Keep SCP alive the way it is supposed to be.

The Owls have won two in a row. Way to Owls!!! Parents let Coach Caven and the coaches have their way, the kids play, and you cheer. Everything will come out for the best in the end. The Owls look like a baseball team for the first time in a while, and all people want to do is grip. I am excited, and you should be too!

The Smith Co. Football program has a possible coaching vacancy. The position would be head Junior High Football Coach, along with some varsity duties. Cheesecake-I think I said that they may have been the best. Not that they were the best. I do think that they are right up there. The only teams that I can remember that would have been close were the 1988 and 1985 teams. What are your choices. Remember, I said may, not was!!!!!

The Owls graduated 11 seniors. This group may have been the best to come off the hill in a long time. They will be missed. The 2003 Owls are working hard. Only time will tell how they will be.

It was a very controlled type of workday, not a scrimmage. Both teams showed good and bad signs. I think that we boh got alot positives out of the work, but also saw that there is alot of work to be done.

Smith County RB/LB Josh Hackett has signed a letter of intent to play for Austin Peay State University. Congrats Josh. Now go make us proud!!

2short, I think that all the girls are doing their part. I think that it takes everyone involved to turn a program around. I hope that the girls are no worried about who gets the praise. I hope all they care about is winning games. This team plays hard night in, and night out. You never know who is going to lead the team, but one thing in for sure, KB always will be the leader of this year's team. I don't care if Rose Ann comes in and scores 20, just win!

Pipe, it could be good, or it could be bad. I like the fact that you have opinions, but I don't always agree. I guess that with age, you will probably see things my way. We will talk about that in about 10 years. One thing is for sure. I do sit, and watch alot of things that go on at SCHS. WE TEACHERS, as yall call us, were not born last night. We do have brains, contrary to popular opinion. I only have one thing to say, go OWLS!!

Smith Co. has won 3 games in a row. The girls are playing much better. The team is lead by Kendra Bane, with all the others chippin' in. Ways to go girls, and keep up the hard work. BEAT MC!!!!

I work as SCHS, and if you hate it so bad, then please transfer. I don't think that there is any reason to like one sport and hate the other. I know all coaches at SCHS, and all have the students best interest in mind!!!!! Sorry but if you don't like it, then leave it. HOsepipe is the SCHS student who gives his opinion in the Black-n-Gold Paper. I think, because I have been watching you.

Coach Dodgen is fittin' in just fine around these parts. He is doin' a good job, and we will keep him around as long as he keeps handin out some free t's to the right people(XL). Hope he stays around for a while. The girls are playin' hard and are fun to watch.
