  1. I still haven't heard anyone say where Oakdale, Oliver Springs, and Oneida will be going to camp this summer. Does anyone know?
  2. I think that Oakdale has the best freshmen player in the district next year in Redmon. She is the real deal and she could become a factor by the time next season rolls around. If she came ready to play and pease plays at a little higher level you could have two very important parts of Oakdale's puzzle in place. I also think that we have several good, soph players that might contribute.
  3. I don't think that Roane County in general cares about girl's basketball like those on the plateau. Rockwood isn't very good Harriman is getting better but still isn't a contender Midway is pretty bad Kingston isn't even a threat to be competitive O.S. is a great program that has all the tradition and players to support it, but if you take them out of the mix it is pretty bad! I think it would take a massive overhaul to build roane co. up to the level that some of it's surrounding counterparts enjoy.
  4. What do you mean if davis changes his attitude toward the dist? I feel like Oakdale is being overlooked a bit. I know I've picked them to finish low this year but I think that Pease will be able to direct a few upsets even possible in tournaments.
  5. What about the upper classmen at Wartburg. Lauren Bunch and Miranda Longmire could play the 3 spot also Bunch could be a great player at the 1. Finding a guard in Wartburg is not going to be very hard at all! Has anyone heard where Wartburg, Oakdale, Coalfield, Oneida, or O.S. will be going to camp this summer? I would like to see the teams play if possible. Does every coach in 4A have a regional championship and trip to the boro on their resume? Hines @ Coalfield Snow @ Oakdale J.Davis @ Wartburg West @ Oneida Christopher @ O.S. The only one is A. Davis @ Sunbright This could be the strongest or at least deepest coaching district in A basketball. I know 7A is good but Lamar and Brown seem to pretty much dominate that district.
  6. I'm glad to see you on here. Last year I watched your team play in middle school and thought man I can't wait until we play them next year.We will kill them. You have no doubt worked hard at your craft and deserve all the respect in the world for that work. I also like to see the interaction between you and Heath Snow at the end of the game at our place (I thought it was the classiest thing I'd seen in a while). You two guys are the future of 4A and I for one think that it's going to be fun. If the people in Wartburg had any sense they would support your program. We didn't reach our ultimate goal of a State Tourney around here but we aren't going to throw the Snow's out. Sometimes it's not anyone's fault that you get beat.
  7. Coalfield best of the weak Morgan Co. Teams......I can't imagine how you could say that they weren't the best in the dist. They beat O.S. last year and they were very young. They return everyone and O.S. does not so they will be the best team easily. Christopher is the best player but Coalfield is the best team! I also think that we found out the "super's kid" can coach this year. He took a team to a level that the school has never seen before winning the region and going to the boro! That's pretty strong evidence that he knows what he's doing!
  8. How does everyone see District 4A going next year? My prediction would be 1. Coalfield 2. O.S. 3. Wartburg 4. Oneida/Oakdale 5. Oneida/Oakdale 6. Sunbright I could see any of the top 3 winning the district especially if O.S. replaces Barger and Howard effectively. I thought that both were pretty under valued this year. Wartburg looks determined to be at or near the top again and they have a good PG and Post returning. If they get a bench in order they could be tough. Coalfield is the best team overall in the district. I think that Alaina Jordan is poised to take the reigns as the best player in D 4A.
  9. Playermom, Kaz, Sportsmom25, Anybody, I heard at a baseball game that (Wartburg's) Davis might be taking a coaching job at Harriman. Any truth to this rumor? I can't help but think he would be crazy to leave Wartburg now that he has stopped the uprising over his hire. What is going on up there in Wartburg?
  10. O.S. will again be the best team in the District next year! With that said they lost to Coalfield and Wartburg this year so I'm not going to say they are the hands down fav's to win it again. I think that 4-A is a bit more murky this year as opposed to last because of a couple of situations. Oneida brings back a large group of young talent. We'll have to see how they do without Lay handling the PG responsibilities. Coach West did a good job with his kids and they will continue to grow. Coalfield brings back almost everyone. We'll see how the others in Coalfield handle playing second fiddle to Alaina Jordan. All kinds of talent with a defined superstar could be a good design for success. I'm just not sold on the fact that the others will give way to Jordan as quickly as necessary. Plus I'm hearing all kinds of rumblings about Coach Hines. Wartburg brings back a good inside-out combination. We'll see how well some of the younger players develop. I really like their soon to be Jr class so who knows. Also, there are a ton of rumors about players transfering in from Sunbright and parts unknown! Jason looks to be a player's coach and kids want to play for him (yet more crow to eat) I also think that Wartburg has a very good freshman class coming in from what I've read in the papers so they should have some talent. My Oakdale lost all their rotation so we will be trying to build something around Korin and if some young kids develop there we could be very competitive also. So I feel that the ole crystal ball is a bit hazy! We will know much more after summer camps and what not. Good luck to all teams and Go Eagles!
  11. I just want to say that I've learned many things this season as a fan. 1.) Many people said that Wartburg would suffer with an inexperienced first year coach. I bought in to that all the way. But Davis has shown that work ethic can overcome most obstacles. Also, many had the attitude that he hadn't won that much in middle school so he wouldn't win at the high school level. Lesson learned don't judge a book without first reading a few pages! 2.) Size doesn't matter like it used to. Oakdale had the most experienced and biggest team in the region. But our lack of footspeed seemed to kill us on occasion. All 4 times we played Wartburg and hopefully that was the problem in the dist consolation game. 3.) Oliver Springs is not all powerful any longer. In the end losing copeland, parton, and company hurt them more than anticipated. Christopher is amazing but she is only one person and the other players from os need to step it up. 4.) There is a home court advantage with the tournaments being held at wartburg. When we played them I felt it was the difference. There is no use in this the people of Oakdale could have made the trip 10 miles to wartburg but i guess they had better things to do.. Fan support matters! 5.) Don't complain about sickness at Tournament time. I have yet to hear any wartburg fans complain because Settles is out and she is their most productive player! OS had a belly ache or something, what about the fact that Armes was obviously ill during the Reg 2A champ? Just face it you got beat, outcoached, and outworked! We've been there 4 times this year, join the club!
  12. Congrats to the Lady Dogs Also, congrats to O'dell and Ruppe from Oakdale on All Region Honors. Goosevol, Sounds like you are making excuses for why O.S. wasn't 100 percent. How about the fact that Wartburg was at about 80% themselves with All District Settles still iin street clothes. If she had been healthy last night that wartburg team would have won by 15!
  13. Any coach that out right throws a game should be FIRED immediately! Wartburg has beat us the last 5 or 6 times we have played them. I just think that we need to win all the games that we can win! All I'm saying is this we have not beat Wartburg this year and We have not beat OS this year either. We will have a tough match up either way. I would rather do as well as I can in this tournament and then see where things stack up. We ran in to one unexpected problem this year in the district. Wartburg didn't blow up under the transition and wound up being much better than many around morgan county thought! The true question is are we going to let a loss to Wartburg cost us one game or two?
  14. Throwing District tournament games is probably why you are a FORMER coach! The people in Oakdale would not be very happy with the thoughts of this years team finishing in 4th place and then in the event that we do see Wartburg again. What if they beat us and then we would have nothing to show for our season except a 4th place in the dist. In tournament time it is best to play the games that are in front of you! Oakdale needs to go for the win. The fact that we are even having this discussion is rediculous! Oakdale will be playing for respect and pride in the consolation game. In tournaments the truth is that winning is good and losing is bad! If you are good enough to make it to a sub-state game it doesn't matter what seed you go in to the tournament with! Throwing in the towel monday should not even be an option for the snows! At the beginning of the season I thought that we would finish 1 or 2 in the district I still believe we should give it our best attempt on monday to finish 3rd!
  15. 1-3 If I were Coach Snow I would rather play anyone other than Wartburg in the Region. By the time that they play again Wartburg may be 100% and I'm not sure that anyone in the district attacks O'dell the way that I saw Wartburg do it last night. I believe that the Oakdale kids need a chance to finish as high in 4-A as they can! It would be pretty awful if Oakdale threw the consolation game only to see Wartburg upset O.S. remember O.S. only beat Wartburg by 1 point earlier! I'ld go ahead and play the game if I were our Oakdale coaching staff!
  16. I can't believe that we lost to a short handed wartburg team. Watching the game I thought that Byrge and Korin did an excellent job in the game both had around 15, but the defensive job that wartburg put on O'dell was good. Coming in to the season I felt that Oakdale had the best team in the district. I was wrong!! Wartburg has the best team! There is not any other team that could go in to the district tournament without their best player and still contend for the Title. Think of OS without Christopher or Oakdale without O'dell. Good job to the wartburg team and to their much criticized coach who in my opinion helped guide his team through a major hurdle tonight! and Keep in mind that OS still has Christopher and they are the fav to win this game but I think it will be pretty close.
  17. I think that Oakdale may have an edge in the Dist Tournament over Wartburg until they are healthy again. This Oakdale team needs to play well Friday night because they may have got the break of a lifetime with Wartburg being short handed. Wartburg has proven this season to be the better team and over the past two years they have really handed it to us. So, Friday is a chance for us to get some respect back. Pease, Odell, and Ruppe all need to step it up! It's time for this team with all it's potential to step up and play the way they are capable. I think that you'll see an O.S. Oakdale Final and a Wartburg / Coalfield Consolation Game. I think that Wartburg if they get healthy could end up getting to the Regional Finals. But I just don't feel like the Dist. Tourney is in the cards for them.
  18. Oakdale looked winded in the game. I think that them being sick had a big impact on the game. But, for Wartburg to hold us to 28 points is very good. O'dell did a good job under the goal and came away with 15 points I think! The other girls are going to need to step it up! The Wartburg kids were very active in their defense and really played a hard game. Second in the district is a good thing for the Wartburg girls. I had predicted them to finish in the 4 or 5 spot! Very impressive! Who wins between Oakdale and Coalfield on Friday? I'm saying it will be too close to call right now. O'dell can't do it all!
  19. I don't think that Wartburg will be able to run the ball on Oakdale it will be hard to deal with the half court traps and their ability to control games at their place. Remember they did beat Oneida andWartburg didn't up there!
  20. I think Fred Snow is C.O.Y. but if I had a second place vote it would go to Davis at Wartburg. I was totally sure that they would fall flat! The idea around the district was that a first year coach could not come in and win 6-8 district games. I have seen Wartburg play about 4 times this year and they don't appear to have any big time problems. Oakdale and Oneida will be a good game tonight, but I was shocked to see that Harriman beat Oneida. They may still have some problems to work out.
  21. I'll agree on the Coalfield boys! They were very poorly coached in the game with Oakdale early in the year. I believe that Wartburg Girl's should be at least 3. I know that Wartburg's girls were always class acts under Dallas, In the games I've seen them play this year it appears that they are good kids. When Oakdale plays Coalfield later on I'll say that Oakdale will beat them as badly as they want I really think that we are about to get it going from here on out!
  22. I would suppose that this is probably just something that the Coach at Coalfield is trying to motivate her team. I don't think that anything that Wartburg did could have been all that bad given they only won by 17. Lets move on from that bad situation! The games Friday are all exciting ones and should be a great deal of fun for the fans. If Coalfield wants to cry over a 17 point loss then maybe I'll start looking at changing my opinion of their ability to win the tournament.
  23. I'll go with OS by 4 (Will be 1) Oakdale by 15 or more (Should finish 2nd in the dist.) Coalfield by 25-30 (I still hold the Lady Jackets as a team that can challenge for the 4-A Title) The District will end up like this 1. Oliver Springs 2. Oakdale 3. Wartburg 4. Oneida 5. Coalfield 6. Sunbright Who does everyone think should be Coach of the Year (My Vote is Fred Snow)
  24. Heard that Coalfield is complaining that Wartburg blew them out. They only lost by 17 so what's the big deal? If I was a coach I would never sub until we had a 25+ Point lead. Did Coalfield pull all their starters?
