  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't McNairy the team that kept D.C. from going undefeated in the "Regular Season" last year ? If that's the case .................... AND D.C. is in Choctaw Stadium ......................... then this one ain't JUST ANOTHER GAME if I'm one of the returning Choctaws ! I don't beleive that I could forget the"One that got away" last year & they ARE coming to MY HOUSE ? Home opener with the fan base that is to be expected !?!? No predictions (AGAIN) but If I was a Choctaw I couldn't begin to think of anything but "payback time" !!!!!!!!!! GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. You just had to know this was gonna be some good watchin' ! The Trojans will step it up next week. No doubt the "Coaches Counce" will have 'em ready ! Tough loss............especially when neither team scores a touchdown ! If you're a "defensive fan" , this had to be your kind of ball game. Mistakes & "muffed punts" were critical. I got D'burg bouncin' back next Friday, It killed my soul with both teams being "away" this week. Only in town for 3 or 4 days made this deal a "gotta stay home situation" for me. I had two radios goin though so "it's all good" !!!!!!!! GOOO CHOCTAWS & GOOO TROJANS ! Choctaws turned the corner & The Trojans will "bounce back" !
  3. This one is all that I thought it would be ! I wish it had been @ Choctaw Stadium ! Pride games are so much fun to watch ! 10 -7 DC early 3rd quarter!
  4. Leadership will be huge ! Some may or may not be the ones that you'd expect ..................... I haven't been around this year to know. I do know this situations like these are "prime time" for some one to STEP UP ! You expect it out of Senors & starters, but you never know where it will come from. The thing that makes this dangerous is that it is a matter of fact with both teams tonight ! Should be one of a few great games to see this Friday ! Lookin back on my statement & yours "Griz"................ They like that "taste of winnin' " the real question is which one of 'em hated that bitter , sick feelin' after losin' last week the most. EVERYBODY LIKES TO WIN ! GIVE ME THE ONES THAT HATE TO LOSE ! This is a HUGE game for both teams not to have Region impact ! Should set the tone for the remainder of the season for the winner & who ever comes up short will have to dig deep & find that "Hate to lose" , "expect to win" attitude to turn the remaining games around ! GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!
  5. I'm gonna make my first prediction ever on Coach T !!!!!!! 73's prediction for this game ! One team will leave 1 - 1 & the other will leave 0 - 2 ! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> seriously though, being a "pride" game after takin' it on the chin (for both teams) last Friday, I beleive both will come out like "a house afire" ! This should be some great watchin' ! Both will want to "redeem" themselves. Especially Dyer County (who most everybody picked to win over an apparently underrated Liberty squad. The Choctaws got used to winning last year & I think they liked it ! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Still no real predictions from this "ol Choctaw" The result of this one will boil down to "WANT TO" ! Which team "rebounds" will be a real momentum swing for the remainder of the season. Right now this is the most important game of the season for both teams ! In reality, this weeks game IS the most important game of the season for ALL the teams in the state ! Cause if you don't take 'em "one game at a time" you're "flirtin' with disaster" ! JMHO
  6. Been rather busy up here in Ohio 64 ! I read an article on lambuthfootball.com from the Jackson Sun. No mention of our Trojans or Choctaw (do you think they might be trying to "fly em under the radar" ?lol ! Nah they are freshmen & have tu can go to prove themselves "under fire" but I think they will prove to be a force to be reckoned with ! Kinda noce to see sucj high school rivals wearin' the same colored jerseys ain't it ! I (like I figure you do) have yet another team to "root" for ! These guys IMO made a great choice for their pursuits @ the " next level" Lambuthe moving up to D II soon as well as the academic offerings /reputation. D I is a great testament to athletic / football ability & all three of them were considered. I hope they make Murray State a bit "sick at their stomach" tonight ! :{) ! If you are interested you can watch the game on the internet for $6.00. I'll have to get the web site. I think you can go to ovcsports.com or somethin' like that (this is edited information '64 & StevieRay if you read this & are interested. it is ovcsports.com. I just kinda "blundered my way down the left side bar, they offer monthly & annual packages, but just keep lookin' & you can purchase just the individual game (Lambuth @ murray State). I wish I could take my laptop to a "Sports Bar" up here & plug it into thei big screen ! Dang "Buckeye Fans" are a real piece of work ! I tell all of 'em that I talk to ....................... Hey what about your record against SEC opponents ...................... & can you say LSU ! Man that really ticks 'em off. If I wasn't the man puttin' money in their pockets, i'd probably have already been strung up ! Here I go ramblin' from our"home grown men" to Big Ten vs SEC ................... MUST BE FOOTBALL SEASON ! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> GO TRAOJANS ........ GOO CHOCTAWS ...........& GOOO LAMBUTH EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. With those two in the backfield, "short yardage" could be a few more yards than some opponents would figure! Could cut into the kickers point total for this year ! lol !
  8. That's alright man ! I SURE know how that goes ! It's really bad when you go to sleep with your finger on one of the keys !lol By the way........... as I hear it tonight, Both former Trojans & that one Choctaw @ Lambuth are on the travelin' squad. Turns out Rashad didn't "redshirt" this year after all. Rumor has it ther is a package with Beau & B.A. in the same backfield. Can you say "FOURTH & ONE...................... field goal my foot" ! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  9. Well like I said "I DON'T make predictions, but even though he may have missed the "spread" ol' GC still picked the win ! A "W" is a "W" regulation or overtime. Escaping with a win beats losin' by a whisker any day ! They (Haywood) are still 1 - 0 ! I've read a bunch of GC'c posts over the past year & he shows a lot of knowledge re: sports (especially when it comes to basketball). It's ALL in fun anyhow ! I just have to stick up for anybody that doesn't "bash" on my Choctaws ! future02 & others would "beat 'em up" on here if they beat Peyton & the Colts or "lil brother" Eli & the Super Bowl Champion Giants in exhibition games played back to back on the same day ! ! GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. As always............... NO predictions from me. But I like your confidence GC ! The Choctaws do have some talent. This whole season is gonna boil down to (I'll say it again) Hey Choctaws ............ HOW BIG IS YOUR WANT TO ! GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I'm sure he just missed the "third lick" on the "A" key ! Ol' StevieRay (Like the ol'"Bo Knows" commercials ) knows lhis sports ! You can rest assured it was a "typo" !
  12. Oh, I,ve been lurkin' about, I just don't get to vocal till the "real season" gets started. I'm stuck in Ohio workin' & gonna watch Lambuth (with B.A. & Beau) on the internet tomorrow night vs Murray. I'll be home for the Lambuth home opener & try & make the Choctaws on the Friday night before. I don't know about Maclin's injury (except what I hear on this site, but I know first hand that the same situation didn't help B.A.'s cause as far as the next level goes, BUT things happen for a reason & with Lambuth going to move up to DII plus the fact that he seems very happpy there all in all things worked out very well. There's a long story I need to tell you about how all that came about when I see you ! For now ........................ just keep this in mind "EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON & IT'S ALL PART OF A GREATER PLAN" ! When you hear the "sccop" on what I'm talkin' about I think you'll agree ! I wish Maclin all the best, but I hope he doesn't push to get on the field befor he is PHYSICALLY READY ! Hollerr at me some time or maybe I'll see you around September 5 or so ! GOOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!
  13. Don't worry about bein' off topic as far as I'm concerned ! Me & " 'Ol StevieRay " will just roll with the flow any how ! It wasn't far off the "beaten path" anyhow ! One reply just led to another. Liberty always seems to have athletes. I hope D.C. can come away "1 -0" & keep "BIG MO" from last season. As always (due to my supersticious nature) I will NOT make a prediction !The ones "grizzlyjigs" mentioned do get excited / FIRED UP ! Enthusiasm is contagious ! Excitement "breeds" excitement ! I think that they will "fire up" when the time comes ! Someboby will "step up" as a leader & demand the same from the team ! That's what leaders do ! GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!
  14. Well, A few weeks can seem like forever ! I hope he does't try to come back too soon ! (Would be nice to have him bach for some of those "late season games") ....... I won't mention any teams or dates ! What's the "skinny" on Liberty this year ? Gotta start with the first one & it's always better to be "1 - 0" than "0 - 1" ! How BIG IS YOUR WANT TO CHOCTAWS ! Last year was a "taste" ! Now keep "BIG MO" workin' for you ! Seniors last had their part (leadership) in turning the tides. NOW it's up to this year's Seniors to bring that leadership & keep it going ! Work HARD guys ! You will NOT sneak up on anyone this year ! They will all have a "bullseye" on the "Orange" this year ! GOOO CHOCTAWS
  15. I'm sure there will be a lot of the same ol" Choctaw bashers" jump on this one ! I have no clue about Liberty this year. Basically, what I know aboout D.C. is just knowing what (personel wise) they return from a great "turnaround" season last year. Also, what is the latest on the status of Maclin ? Let the games begin !
  16. Prayers for family, team mates, school & community from an ol' Choctaw.
  17. I am not, will not & have NEVER made predictions regarding any football game that I took a real interest in. I just let 'em play out as they will & hope that "my team" wins. There are too many unknowns in any game for this "ol' Choctaw" to make a prediction. BUT ......................... your "BOLD STATEMENT IN..............BOLD PRINT" will likely end up on a t-shirt (in some manner) if you're wrong ! If I were to do the art by the way, I would spell (or mis spell) exactly as you posted this just so every time you saw one you'd know that you were the one that made this statment before either team has played a game that counts or should I say "Counce". I have all the respect in the world for the "Coaches Counce", but they are coaches & the game is played on the field /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> In retrospect to the last line of the above response, I would be the last one to belittle any coaches role in preparing, mentoring or having a great deal to do with the outcome of any game / sport. But I talked to a friend that lurks around here last night who stays very much in the loop of Trojan football. We discussed the "Legend Returns" t shirts (among other things). The Trojan "Faithful" wanted the "Coaches Counce" back and now they have them. I have no question as to the discipline that they bring to a program, but come on now ........ as for your "one word" (Counce), truth be told I doubt that they care much for statements like yours. My thinking is possibly that one word should be T E A M ! That from what I've seen from "mg's" posts is the primary theme for the '08 Trojans. As for your ONE word & killin D.C. do you not think they heard that enough last year ? Didn't work out that way though. There's a whole lot of football to be played before the DHS @ DCHS game. The thing that mades last year so huge was the "undefeated in region play" by both teams. Let's just hope that both teams this year can make this game be as "BIG AS IT CAN BE" by doing what it takes ........... to win one game at a time til that night a Choctaw Stadium (this year). It wasn't D.C, by the way that picked the "Homecoming" week ! I support both teams save for one night a year & there are many Newbern / Dyersburg / Dyer Countians that do. It's all fun & RIVALRY is an understatement. But in sofar as football is concerned it's one Friday / week a year and for both D.C & Dyersburg there's several important Fridays between now & then ! JMHO
  18. thefuture02 won't retract ANYTHING he says about Dyer County ! He's purely & simply a "Choctaw HATER" ! I haven't forgotten his " bashin' " from last year when they went 10 - 2. Never any retraction from any derogatory remarks made about a team that went undefeated through the Region 7 3A schedule (a tough Region to be sure). He doesn't have the maturity to admit that anything he does, thinks or posts is wrong. Any "hard core facts" on whether or not it is an ACL injury to Maclin ?
  19. I got a feelin' that you ain't seen "packed" .............. Look for the "Coaches Counce" returm to have 'em PACKED ! Great expectations from the Trojan faithful will make a seat a precious commodity.
  20. 64 this one is one of my nephews ! I'll clear up the confusion for ya ! The one I beleive you think it is (formerly # 33 @ DCHS)l seems to be doin' well @ Lambuth. DCBALLAS is a good one, too ! He's taken those "lessons learned" from the "ol coach" & put 'em to good use ! Stay in touch ! '73
  21. Meniscus & chondral damage would have to do with what we (common folks) call cartiledge. If he's got a torn ACL there's no way I'd put him on the field. All you gotta do is watch the movie ! (Friday Night Lights)
  22. Alright now "yungun" if you're lucky & live long enough to tell "old war stories", rest assured you WILL ! Not to mention those people (ie coaches, teachers, etc) that had a great influence on you ! By the way .......... I only had to walk about 300 yards or less to school & I reckon I was blessed cause I had shoes ! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I did go back to the ol "WLS" Chicago AM radio days. then came FM & 8 track WOW what a hoot ! I don't have any idea how old you are, but I now qualify for AARP discounts so it's all good ! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  23. Yeah...... yeah...... yeah........... "bunch of old men" ! lol ! Ah the good ol days ! Heck mg I'm just like the fat girl at the prom & Minnie Pearl ................. "Just so Proud to be here" ! Times have changed ............ the game has changed but save for a very slim few still coaching & many long since retired there is an empty hole for things like discipline & "who runs this show". Coach Counce is one from the "old school". I respect that "old school mentality" having played during & being "raised that way" (both at home & on the field by the same man) ! Lots of successful "old men" due to the impact & principles instilled in them by ..... yes of all people .......their football coaches !
  24. Oh YEAH ! I remember Coach Newby ! His demeanor / approach would make Bob Knight look like a "Saint" ! D.C had a little daily ritual "back in the day" too ! Best you have your headgear on AND snapped up when you went out the door to the practice field. Cause when that coach (that we both know StevieRay) yelled "CHOCTAW" ! It was a "head bustin" goin on. Didn't make any difference where you were, you BEST be hittin' somebody OR YOU were gonna be the one gettin hit ! Freshman...... Senior ........ lineman ..... runnin back it DID NOT MATTER ! ! Blind sided was not an issue, cause you knew you had best hav your "head on a swivel". You NEVER knew when it was comin', could come at any time during practice, you just KNEW it WAS comin' ! At least once right out of the dressin' room & then hey ............ you never knew ! Could come at any time during practice, could come right after you took a knee @ the end of practice for the "words of wisdom". It actually made it a little fun though. Dang sure made some agressive players. That was a big factor in what became known as "The WIld Bunch" younger players or reserves that got their "reps" when the games were under control & sometimes just to give the starters a breather. Made 'em mean & tough QUICK ! The "Wild Bunch" was somethin' else ! We'd get two touchdowns ahead & the crowd would start cheerin' "Put in the "Wild BUnch". Off season , one of the "drills" was using one ....... thats right one boxing glove per guy. The other hand was "forearm locked" & it was a beat h3!! out of the other guy or get h3!! beat out of you ! Ah the good ol' days ! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. You're correct on the D.C history partner ! Just want to fill in a few gaps. State Champs in '73 against Sequatchie County (down 26 - 12 a few minutes into the fourth quarter) won 31 - 26 with 45 seconds on the clock, 10 - 0 regular season in '74 & someone that I know real well (goes by 73choctawqb I beleive) cost the Choctaws another playoff run & possibly State Championship by droppin' two kicks inside our own 20 against Houston County. In '75 D.C. lost in the "Second Round" to Whitehouse. I drove to Murfreesboro from Knoxville to see the '76 Championship Game. The game was lost in overtime by a field goal (3 - 0) to Rockwood. That wasn't a "bad run" in any body's book for a little country school (even if it was a long time ago). I hope that last year's season @ Dyer County was a sign of a "turnaround" to the "good ol' days".D.C had a pretty dang good coach durin' that era too ( I know him pretty well). There were several players that went to the next level during that time. It will be interesting to see whether the momentum (BIG MO') has swung back in the Choctaw Nation. It was great seein' the stands filled & the excitement that came with last year's success.I saw people @ games that I hadn't seen in years @ Choctaw football game. Expectations are high for this year ( as would be expected) & the talent is there, same coaches, so......... IMHO it's all gonna boil down to this .......................... HEY CHOCTAWS ! HOW BIG IS YOUR WANT TO !?!?! It's time to rebuild the tradition that was lost for a lot of years. Good talkin to you the other night StevieRay ! Keep in touch ! BTW I had to call on the "man" to clear up all the clouded memories having been a child of the '70's & havin' a severe case of "CRS" I had to edit this post about three or four different times !lol ! Finally called a man that I KNOW would have the "skinny" on what went on. You know who I'm talkin' about StevieRay !
