  1. Clarksville's going to finish below .500 you can count on that. Even if they beat Wilson Central they're going to lose to Hendersonville and Brentwood to finish 11-12. Wilson Central's goal was very nice. It should be an interesting finish tomorrow. They start at 6.
  2. Clarksville at Dickson tomorrow for the championship
  3. Yeah that's right. They had a runner-up and state title at a lower level before they could play division 1. Not sure about results once they were old enough to play d-1 though.
  4. There is good talent in the sophomore and freshman classes for Clarksville and Rossview right now, so things should start improving as early as next year. I don't know anything about the group that are 8th graders this year. No doubt that the development in Clarksville hit a lull for a couple of years. The '87 and '88 Royals both had talented teams that competed for state championships on the club level, then there wasn't much for a couple of years after that. Things look to be improving, but it's always going to be tough to get through that region with the talent spread over 7 high schools in Clarksville.
  5. A non-Clarksville team has never won the district. Clarksville's dominated it, Northeast won a couple in the 90s and Rossview 2 years ago. Talking to people in this district, it would surprise no one for whoever finishes last in the district regular season to upset the one-seed in the tourney. The district is that close this year. You guys are right though, none of these teams will get anything more than a district title.
  6. From the teams' forms of late I see it as pretty close. Rossview is more battle tested so I'll take them. It's in Dickson though so it will be interesting. Big game to stay opposite of Clarksville in the tournament.
  7. How exactly are they third when they haven't lost a district game? And as for the Rossview player, big win last night, but no need for all of that on here. I'm sure your coaches won't be too happy about that.
  8. Rossview 2 Springfield 1, Clarksville 4 Springfield 2, Dickson 4 Springfield 2 Rossview 1 Northeast 0, Dickson 3 Northeast 2, Clarksville-Northeast tomorrow night These Dickson guys are running out of ammo even with their comparing scores argument.
  9. Haven't we talked about comparing scores already. Games aren't won and lost based on what teams did with common opponents, all that matters is when those two teams meet on the field. Keep assuming Dickson will win based on what they do with common opponents. If you are a player and the rest of your team has that mentality you will lose to both Rossview and Clarksville. On the stat of district titles, this is only the 6th year Rossview has been in existence and they have already been more successful than Dickson has ever been and Clarksville has won district title after district title since the creation of this district. They are both down this year, but those players aren't going to go down easy. Those two teams have finished 1-2 and played in the district finals the past 4 years and those players have a standard to play up to. Anything less than a regional appearance is a significant failure for either of those teams in the eyes of the coaches and former players and it simply isn't like that at Dickson.
  10. Where is that played? Looking at the games listed on Eurosport Scoreboard it doesn't appear any of those teams should provide a legit test. The true test comes down the stretch for Dickson. They have 5 games in their last 6 that will be tougher than any others they've played thus far with USN, FRA, Clarksville, Rossview, and Beech. They'll have a gaudy record going into that part of the schedule (perhaps 11-0), but we'll really find out about them at the end of the year.
  11. I'm going to assume you're using mjuhb's rankings, which are as accurate as any. I'm also going to assume you mean district not region since Hendersonville, Gallatin, and Lavergne are all in that region. Rankings don't mean anything, and if Dickson thinks they have won the games with Clarksville and Rossview before they play them they will lose both. Dickson has played one real game against a team with a winning record, that being Springfield who hasn't exactly beaten anyone either. Don't read into scores from scrimmages, such as the Dickson-Overton one, because team's rarely play their best players in meaningless games. I'm not sure if Dickson has ever won a district title, but I know for a fact if they have it hasn't been in nearly 15 years, and speaking from experience it's hard to get over that kind of hump. Not impossible, but very difficult. Dickson might win this district, but I've said it before and I'll say it again. When it really boils down to it it won't matter because none of these teams are getting past the region unless they improve greatly.
  12. Basing predictions based on comparing scores gets you into trouble. Dickson might well win the district, the talent is there no doubt, but it is far from a lock this early in the season. Also, the regular season doesn't mean anything, once postseason rolls around prior results mean nothing.
  13. Don't get ahead of yourself. No doubt Dickson is improved, and might should be the favorite at this point, but they still haven't played the only other two teams in the district that matter, Clarksville and Rossview. Both of those teams appear to be down at this point, but they're still the two teams who have players who have tasted success and been through the postseason battles that Dickson hasn't been through. No way any of those teams, from what I've seen and heard, is going any farther than the regionals though.
  14. Youth development in Clarksville has been on the decline for years. It's not just a problem at CHS. Rossview is also nowhere close to what they have been the last couple of years. There's also too many schools in the area for anyone to be competitive on the state level, but in the end it all goes back to a lack of youth development.
  15. Northeast hasn't been a favorite since Rossview opened. The district championship has been Clarksville-Rossview the last 4 years. Dickson returns more talent than those two teams so they could surprise people and take the title. Look out for Northwest. They had the district coach of the year last year, and they could be the cinderella team of the district. In the end it doesn't matter because none of those teams can get through a section with Hendersonville and Brentwood.
