  1. Jeremy Estill was lead off for Coffee Co. in the 8th. I believe it went full count. Fouled several balls off. Hit ball between short and third. Short had to go to his right to field it, but had no shot at throwing Estill out. With Estill at first, Sam Davis sacrificed with a bunt and moved Estill to second. With one (or two) out(s) a low curve ball bounced to the catcher and scooted away from the catcher just a little. Estill broke for third and the catcher retrieved the ball and threw to third. It was a low throw and the ball skipped off to left field. Estill got up from his slide and hustled home to win the game 9-8. Several players contributed for Coffee Co. (Sam Davis 2 run HR; William Myers diving catch in left) but Jeremy Estill was the difference. He almost willed Coffee Co. to the win. In the 7th with two bunt hits and no outs, the third batter of the inning bunted too. Estill hustled after the ball, bare handed it and fired to third for a bang bang out. He came in to relieve Bryson Davis in the 2nd inning and went the distance--calling his own game. Coffee Co. seemed a little shell shocked at the start of the game but settled in nicely when Estill came in to pitch. The team seemed ready despite some distractions over the weekend. I thought the team was well prepared and Coaches Jones and Browning played good strategy and made good decisions during the game. Lebanon was a tough team top to bottom. Coffee Co. was fortunate to be playing at home and get the win.
  2. I am sure it didn't hurt having Travis Adams as a head coach this year. He not only improves his players but he also knows how to promote them. Congratualtions.
  3. I'm almost afraid to say anything on here. Let me get this out of the way first: 1. I am a lawyer and I am full of crap. 2. Any shortcomings that a player has that I coached in little league or travel ball are my fault and I take full responsibility for not correcting those faults. Now let's talk about the tenacity shown by Coffee Co. yesterday against Columbia. Coffee Co. was down to their LAST STRIKE twice in the seventh inning. Aaron Pearson had two strikes, two outs and no one on base. He smoked a triple to right-center. Next Zach Poteet got two strikes then bounced an infield single over the pitcher's head. Tie game 1-1. In the 11th with Ben Aaron at 3rd and Zach Poteet at 2nd, Brett Harris singled to right and Coffee Co. took the lead 3-1. I guess those players all overcame thier Little League coaching huh? Coffee Co. won 3-2 to avoid the play-in game against Shelbyville. Coffee Co. plays all the district tournament games at home. Let's rekindle the magic we saw last year. GO RAIDERS!!!!!
  4. Five years ago when Coach Price arrived in Coffee Co. the program was in shambles. Prior to Coach Price??™s arrival, the team rarely won a game and most games were not even close. Coach Price turned the program around. Now five years down the road we are in a different situation. Are things so bad that we need to turnover the entire coaching staff, change uniforms and get a different mascot? I don??™t think so. We have something good started here. I said started not going. Coach Sisk has been here for five years. After Coach Nunley left, he took over as defensive coordinator. Coach Sisk has been a loyal soldier to Coach Price. He never publicly complained about things even though he was put in a tough spot a time or two by some decisions made on the other side of the ball. Apparently Coach Sisk is thought of enough in other places that he is a sought after commodity. It also appears that if he were to get the head coaching job here that he could and would keep most of the coaching staff intact. Perhaps even a former assistant might return. If Coach Sisk does not get the head coaching job here, I can??™t imagine that he would stay at Coffee Co. I also can??™t imagine that some current assistants would not follow him if he left. I don??™t know any of that; it is pure conjecture. There may be highly experienced head coaches that have a great track record that may apply for the job. If so, they should be thoroughly investigated and the best man for the job hired. However, I think we should be wary of someone just passing through. If we hire someone from another program and they are successful here then they probably won??™t stay long. This past season the school administration did a really good job of alienating many fans, supporters, contributors and volunteers. Some left before the last game even started and of those that stayed, more than one said that they would not be back. That same administration will eventually decide the future direction of Coffee Co. football by selecting a coach. We can just hope that they have learned from their mistakes and make a wise decision.
  5. I can pay Coach Bill Price no higher compliment than this: He taught our young men how to become strong. He taught our young men how to become competitive. He taught our young men not to listen to the whiners and complainers. He taught our young men what leadership is by his example. He taught our young men how to be winners both on and off the field. While taking pictures on the sidelines it was not unusual to see different former players (not from Coffee Co.) of Coach Price's on the sidelines. They were there to see their old coach and his new team. To me that says a lot. I hate to see Coach Price go, but he will do well. I hope Coffee Co. can beat the bushes and put together a real search to find someone who can build upon the momentum Coach Price has built. Good Luck Coach Price. Doug Aaron

  12. I know that Cleveland was the regular season and tournament champion in their district. They run-ruled Bradley Central in the district championship game. Wednesday night they out hit Bradley Central, but made two crucial errors--one led to three runs scoring. I believe all of Bradley Central's runs were unearned. Cleveland saved their best pitching for tonight. Caution-tonight is an elimination night. Cleveland is a dangerous team. Don't take them lightly. Cleveland had a scout at the Oakland game on Wednesday. Regardless of what happens, let's hope there is no controversy tonight.
  13. Binns, A very strange game. The home plate umpire, an older and obviously experienced umpire, did not bring his "A" game. There was a three man crew working the game. With Coffee nursing a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 6th, Oakland had runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 out and a strike on the batter. The Coffee pitcher faked a throw to third then a throw to first (for the third time in the inning). The home plate umpire called BALK and let the runner score from third. The batter flew out to right to end the inning. The first and third umpires just looked at each other. In the top of the 7th, Coffee had runners at 1st and 2nd with no out. Batter bunts and the pitcher over throws first base. The runner at second goes to third and attempts to score. The home plate umpire is STANDING IN THE BASELINE between home and third about 5 yards from the plate with his back to third base. The Coffee runner slowed then collided with the umpire. By the time he recovers the ball is at the plate and he is out. Unbelieveable. No disrespect to Oakland. They are a great team. The Polk homeruns were the difference. Coffee made some aggressive base running mistakes that hurt. Three runners were thrown out at the plate. Coffee needs to put a positive spin on this game. They took the No. 2 team in the country down to the wire. Oakland needed an odd BALK call to tie it up. Coffee advances to STATE with a win Friday at Bradley Central. This is a gutty bunch of kids--always have been. They will put this behind them and bring their "A" game Friday.
  14. I am in the process of posting several post game pictures of Coffee Co. after winning the 8-AAA tournament. I am posting these pictures under the picture link for the 8-AAA championship game against Lawrence Co. Sorry there are no game pictures, but as a photographer you don't get to really watch the game, and as a parent I really wanted to watch the game. Coffee Co. put together a great run. They lost the opening game of the tournament but then ran the table. The pictures that are posted reflect the acomplishment they achieved. Several parents asked me to post these pictures. Many people download these pictures and post them on web sites or publish them in local papers. Others print them off using the Coach T backdrop for scrapbooks. I hope everyone enjoys them. Doug Aaron
