  1. I'm a Collierville fan. I think if they eliminate the big play, they'll have a chance. If I remember correctly, a couple of big plays broke their backs. One big run for a td and another big punt return for a td, both in the first half. Collierville will need to run the ball better than last time. Collierville needs big # 38 to have a big game. They were ok with the pass offense, just didn't get much on the ground. It's a big task to beat Millington.
  2. His injury is/was a fractured tibia. He actually played on it for a couple of weeks before he knew and did quite well. The week he found out about it, it had already started to calcify, he had an off game. Came back and played well against Kirby. It was his younger brother that kicked the xp's against Kirby actually. He should be ready to go against Millington.
  3. I can tell you first-hand that the soph backup QB for Briarcrest looked very good against us (ECS). Didn't look like they lost anything at all with him at the helm. He was very poised. Should be a good game. Did notice that the star rb limped off the field late, not sure of his status. Both rb's are very impressive, both have good speed and hit the holes hard.
  4. Well, ECS didn't get it done. For starters, I was impressed with the soph QB of Briarcrest, he was very well poised. For seconds, ECS killed themselves. Penalties in the first half, seven or eight. 5 penalties on one drive, we got down to first and goal from the 10, 3 holding penalties, 1 off. pass interference, 1 illegal procedure (declined),and 1 illegal forward pass later and it was 4th down and goal from the 40. The second half we had 3 lost fumbles, at least one of which was deep in our own territory that led to a Briarcrest TD. Add to that the fact that Briarcrest looked better than I expected and we lost. Sad way to end for the seniors.
  5. yeah, it's a bad deal, especially for the kid. He has committed to Southern Miss, so I guess he's ok there. We'll have to stop their 2 rb's they appear to be pretty good though.
  6. That's strange, I don't see anything in the TSSAA handbook regarding a 20 mile radius rule, must be a new one. I do, however, see a rule regarding having an athletic record with TSSAA within the last 12 months that may rule him ineligible.
  7. I disagree, I think they would understand. Kids are more understanding than we given em credit for. I think it's a great oppty and would be a great gesture to start them, it's only one game and the jr's and sophomore's have many more to come.
  8. Looks like I'm a minority in this one, but I say start the sr. backups. You can always make a change, but those backups will never forget this game. The regular starters would understand I believe.
  9. I'm going with Millington, White Station, Collierville, Germantown, Whitehaven, Melrose and of course, ECS baby! Looks like I agree with all your picks.
  10. I have the same understanding as you. In case of a 3-way tie, FACS having more wins would them first, leaving Harding at second since they beat DA.
  11. If BCS beats ECS, ECS stays home and CBHS gets third place.
  12. Yeah, the pa announcer is good about that. We gotta beat Briarcrest now, let's hope we're up to it!
  13. I gotta add, Brunetti is one special player. That kid has a future.
  14. Let's see: MUS vs ECS, I got this one, sure wasn't the blowout predicted by many. Cordova vs. Craigmont, I got this one. Collierville vs White Station, I missed this one, not sure what happened. Kirby vs. Houston, I got this one. Whitehaven vs. Germantown, I missed this one, I guess Whitehaven missed those players that were out. Overall, 3-2, ok I guess.
  15. You gotta give ECS some credit, especially in the first half. Their defense was pretty darn good. It was a great first half in my opinion. The second half our offense never got going, the interception returned for a td was the backbreaker. If our pass defense was only half as strong as our run defense. The overall stats were inversed, MUS 184 yds passing, 85 yds rushing, ECS 17 yds passing, 222 yds rushing. MUS held ECS to only 85 total yds in the second half which was the difference. We had a couple of blown chances, threw an interception in the endzone, drove down to the goal line another time only to be pushed back with a holding penalty. MUS could complete passes at will against our weak pass defense which made the difference in the game. Our young QB runs exceptionally, just needs to learn poise in the pocket and not give up so early.
  16. Hey, you weren't so easy on me! Ha, I'm just kidding, your response didn't bother me.
  17. I'm sticking with mine. I think the sloppy conditions will affect all equally.
  18. Yeah, it was an impulse, just couldn't stand to see them slam Memphis like that.
  19. I responded to the transfer situation on the other thread.
  20. It's actually pretty simple. The first school was CBHS, located in Memphis. Then his family moved to Olive Branch, MS and he started the season playing for OBHS. He then relocated back to Memphis, at a different address from his original Memphis address and enrolled at Melrose. This has nothing to do with Memphis being a joke as several of you have stated. The ruling was made by Ronnie Carter and rightfully so according to the rules.
