  1. I was at the CBHS game so I can only comment on that one....the defense looked average, lb'ers looked fairly good though. No passing game although they do have one very fast receiver. Just can't seem to get the ball to him. That running back is the real deal and seems to be just about all they have. As hard as CBHS tried to contain him they couldn't.
  2. The only game I can comment on is Germantown vs. CBHS. Man, what an exciting game. CBHS has 2 good rb's, I give the edge to the younger guy as he appears a tad stronger. But holy cow, that rb for G'town can absolutely fly. Problem is G'town runs him in the ground, he appears to be all they have. I believe he had over 350 yds in this game.
  3. I was very impressed with Baker's punting. I was curious as to why #23 didn't run the ball more against SP. He seems to have decent speed and much more size and strength than the other RB, which could have been better. However, I will say that most any team will have trouble running the ball vs SP.
  4. Their rb's did look slow, but I think they only had like 10 rushing attempts. I was surprised #23 didn't run the ball more, he only had 1 attempt. The qb did look stuck in the mud, but primarily at the hands of the SP defense, lol.
  5. For what it's worth, I can vouch for TraderB's support of OB...
  6. I believe you'll see some changes with Collierville. I expect them to open it up a little more on offense.
  7. Not doubting that you were told that, but I find it very hard to believe that a reputable AD would say such a thing, even in a side conversation. I know the former AD for ECS, which was the AD at the time this decision was made, and he is a very reputable man.
  8. He has verbally committed to Ole Miss, but not signed since he's just a junior. Don't know for a fact, but I doubt Ole Miss offered based on his pitching. He's exceptionally fast with a good arm, solid outfielder. I think his offer came right after he ran a blistering 60 (no, I can't remember the time) in pretty cold weather. If he develops more as a pitcher I suppose he could end up throwing for Ole Miss. You can never have enough lefties, obviously, but you're correct that he was not offered based on his pitching first. I suspect they saw him run and had visions of Jordan Henry. I believe his 60 time was 6.4, which is pretty impressive in those conditions especially. I know Will pretty well. I doubt he will ever see the mound at Ole Miss, but hey, you never know!

  10. Really doubt they are ranked higher than Bartlett or Farragut but it is still a quality win! Collierville beat Bartlett 10-0 2nd game of the season.
  11. I hear ya. I think (hope) Shawn will provide the new blood needed.
  12. LOL @ "Get'em" ... Thanks wsttnballer for your support in this matter. I mean ... some folk can be just down right unreasonable. Firing the man under those circumstances is just ... well ... i'm at a loss for words ... and that's unlike me. Ha, I think you expressed yourself eloquently, didn't seem at a loss for words!
  13. Get 'em KWC! I totally agree with you. The man has definately made improvements, no reason whatsoever to even think about firing him. My gosh, if you used that logic on every coach, every year, that'd be crazy...
  14. I know Shawn Abel is a straight up guy that seems to be very well liked and respected by most of the team as well as other students that don't even play. I say give him a chance. I would also say that just because he has worked under Coach Cox for all these years, he didn't necessarily "learn" everything he knows from him. I think he's smart enough, (in fact I know he is very intelligent), to know that things need to change and fully expect him to make changes. Give him a chance before passing judgement!
  15. My picks as follows: Arlington 28-24 over Craigmont. Tigers somehow pull it out. GTown 28-18 over Wooddale. Thornton has another big night. Collierville 18-16 over Kirby. Gotta pull for C'ville, plus I feel sorry for them. Whitehaven 32-28 over Mitchell. The Haven gets it done. ECS 42-14 over FACS. FACS no match for the Eagles. CBHS 27-14 over Briarcrest. CBHS is just the better team
  16. I think most folks went with CBHS ... except for wstnballer ... we all knew who he was pulling for! The CA's version of what happened is below. Purple Wave outlast pesky ECS I went. It was a good game. Questionable officiating on back to back plays helped CBHS with their second score. From what I saw and what the people around me said, ECS wastes Harrison Jones. They don't throw to him and they don't run behind him. It just doesn't make any sense. I left with 3 minutes left in the game and he had 1 catch for like 6 yards. Yeah, KWC, no doubt who I'm for, lol. BMack, you're right about those calls. ECS should have won that game, they ran it down CBHS's throats in the 1st half. Couldn't do much the 2nd half. Regarding Harrison Jones, it's disappointing this year. Everyone had high expectations out of him and they really aren't using him. His blocking really isn't that strong, they do have a strong interior line, so they are using that wisely and with success. As far as throwing to him, he's fine on balls thrown over his shoulder. He certainly has all the tools physically, I'm at a loss as to why they don't throw to him more as you can design plays that fit his strengths. He's a great kid and I wish him well at 'Bama but at this rate he won't be ready for the transistion.
  17. my picks: Millington 35 - 10 Arlington 21 - 7 Wooddale 24 - 14 White Sta 42 - 28 Mitchell 35 - 21 ECS 21 - 17, (go Eagles!)
  18. Actually, I remembered JPII being in our district from us playing them. We beat them at their place back when they had Golden Tate. He was a heckuva player, really all they had back then. I did confirm it with the TSSAA website though. Next week should be a good game, ECS seems to be firing on all cylinders although they always seem to have a mental block with the brothers and MUS. Tonights game will probably get real ugly real fast, I look for a lot of playing time from the subs. I'll pass your compliments on the parking to the higher up's. I do look forward to your game tonight, should be a good one if WS has it all together.
  19. According to TSSAA website, Pope John Paul II was eliminated from state in both '05 and '06 by Webb? I believe this was the time period you mentioned of there being 3 divisions.
  20. Wow, it got 2 responses! I know, I breaking my word by responding to this, but I couldn't help it... I'm really sorry to disappoint you... , and no desire to make Sports Illustrated.
  21. One last response to this subject and I'm done. Regarding "me keep bringing up our record and how we compared to MUS, for starters, that was the first response in which I mentioned our record or how we compared to MUS, and it was only a response to your dig regarding the fact that we began losing games and didn't get very far in the play-offs when we moved up. As far as answering your question about why we left DIIAA for DIIA, I'll leave that to your imagination.
  22. I stand corrected a second time. Irondawg ... care to prognosticate on the games mentioned? I mean ... you are here, you may as well have at it like the rest of us. What do you say? It's all harmless fun. ha, I don't know, last week's thread got a little contentious, lol.
  23. Sorry, you're wrong about that. Call the school to verify if you want. 662.890.2490
