  1. Science Hill has a good team. I see DB and Science Hill going for it at the end of the season for conference/district titles. Then after sub-state, I see both teams advancing forward to state. I see why DB is ranked # 8. If know the history of the players from DB then you would know and see why the ranking is so high. The history of the Coach is also another reason why they are ranked high. FEELING THE VIBES, ROLLING WITH THE TRIBE!
  2. I think that the Coach did not use good judgement when he let his Ace pitcher throw over 140 some pitches in the cold in a game that was non-conference. To claim a win against the # 8 ranked team in the nation is great but this was not a good decision on the Coach's part. Now as far as the team.....they are good but going as far as they did last year in the playoffs......No, I don't think so. The only good pitcher they have will not be able to carry them by himself and the pitching depth is not the greatest. But good luck to them anyway.
  3. Well, whomever decides to come out of this area (Knoxville) will have an upper East TN team to beat before they ever make it back to State. Farragut got beat by Science Hill and almost by DB. Even though Wm. Blount beat DB in the SportsBelle.....which I consider a fluke.....they will not the next time WB meets DB. DB did not use their top pitchers in the Sportsbelle. None of the teams in Knoxville has seen DB's top pitchers....YET! Science Hill has some good pitchers that can get the job done when they need to. So, whomever comes out on top in Knoxville you better be ready to face Upper East TN to go anywhere.
  4. I have been to MANY ball fields in Tennessee over the last 30 years and DB's is the best field I've seen. As for, the Rookie league, J. Fred Johnson Stadium has hosted not only the NY Mets but the Detriot Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Atlanta Braves. If you have not been to the new Rookie League field in Kingsport (Hunter Wright Stadium) then you need to pay a visit there. This field is just as nice as J. Fred.
  5. DB's Derek Trent (catcher) is going to ETSU (if the Pros don't get him 1st). Bo Burton (pitcher) going to ETSU. Tyler Joyce (pitcher) going to Cleveland State.
  6. For your info Trent has 9 for this year (so for) and 32 for his career (so far). Trent broke the school record set back in 1990 by a great all time player named Jim Alder. Who went to play for the Detroit Tigers before a shoulder injury ended his carrer. Trent's record breaker went 500 feet before it landed! DB as a team has 5 power hitters that have homeruns under their belt this season, playing 23 games and hitting 23 HR's as a team. DB also has 4 more players could hit homeruns in some of the smaller ballparks (310 to 325). As for the biggest field Science Hill's Cardinal Park is maybe the largest but DB has a close second (350-425). Minor leagues use to play at J. Fred Stadium for many years prior to moving to Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport. Looking forwrd to watching those Indians do the CHOP!
  7. Kudos, to Oakland for winning! I agree with you about the moving TEACUP! The umpires in Knoxville need to to UMPIRE CAMP for training. And anytime an East Tennesse team goes to Knoxville the TEACUP strike zone is a minature one. As for DB, even though they committed some errors, I feel that they still played good games. What the Knoxville teams and others do not realize is DB did not use the # 1 nor # 2 pitchers. DB has 4-5 (6-7 with relievers) real good pitchers to use when playoffs come compared to the 1-2 good pitchers they have. DB plays 8 other teams in their conference compared to 4-5 conference play. The team as a whole can hit the ball VERY well. I look to see them in State playoffs this year with the team they have.
