  1. i understand not wanting to use top pitchers and save them for a district game but this tournament started on a thursday and is over on saturday. if the number one guy starts thursday, even if they have a district game on monday, thats three days rest. i agree thats not really enough rest for a complete game, so why not start at least your three guy or maybe even your two guy and let your number one rest for your monday district game. you say they want to be competitive in their other games, how can you do that if you are saving your top four guys for district. its very hard to compete with nothing better than your five guy on the mound unless your a really really good hitting team. last time i checked, there arent many teams that can hit good enough to stay in games with good teams with only there five guy throwing.

I agree with you. I thought OR would throw their #1 or #2 pitcher since SD was throwing Kirkland and their #3 is the closer. I know the Williamson kid throws on Monday and the Brent kid on Wednesday in the District, but what would it hurt throwing them a few innings over the weekend. OR's coach always has coached that way when it comes to late week or weekend games.

  2. Souyh Doyle won, but threw Kirkland their #1 pitcher, OR threw their #5 pitcher. OR will not throw their top 4 pitchers in tournament games but will give younger kids the experience for future years. The coaches number 1 goal is to win the District, but they want to be competitive in other games.

  3. Young and inexperience. They start three sophs at 3rd, SS and 2B and possible a soph at 1B sharing it with a senior. The 3 outfielders are seniors but will be pushed by underclassmen. Their catcher is a Carson Newman signee and probably the best ball player on the field for OR. The starting pitching is above average with concern of the relief pitchers. The main concern is who will step up and stroke the baseball and how will the outfield fare as they have struggle during all three scrimmages. We will find out tomorrow as Karns invade Hopkins field.

  4. Oak Ridge will start 3 sophmores in the infield. Steven Monger at 3rd, Jordan Woullard at SS and Morgan Guymon at 2nd. Monger started at 3rd last year and Woullard and Guymon started in the outfield as freshmen. Both Woullard and Monger will also toe the mound for Oak Ridge.

  5. He definitely can hit and by the way, who does AC play. Guinn has been recruiting for four years and since he is gone AC has to play with talent from Clinton and Norris after next year. How many of them players started over the last three years. I know they have boys driving from knoxville and the surrounding areas to play. They even pulled Campbell Co's best player.l

  6. The Keys moved to Coalfield because they got kicked off of Clinton baseball team. I heard they wanted to go to Oak Ridge but their coach refused to take them. I heard the Johnson kid got beat out by a freshman last year and would never hit the field except to pitch. If that makes Coalfield the team to beat cause of those three kids, what does that say about the competition in the district.

  7. Since you watched Farraguts boys play since they were 8 you should know that they are not playing t-ball anymore. Which is just another reason Bearden wins. Faragut just has one real senior pitcher. Bearden has 4 senior aces Hunter, Josh, Taylor and Andy -- as well as the best leader in Dawson who took Bearden to the State Final while Faragut watched on TV. Farragut also loses because its boys are spoiled and think they should win without putting in the work.

Lenoir City Beats Farragut at least once because they learn to play infield under tough conditions. A friend from WB told me that last year at districts Faraguts fielders looked like a bunch of overweight bobbleheads -- er, that is, bobblehands. Maybe they coud catch and throw better when they were 8.

WB will be tough because they have the players who know how to beat Farragut's pitching like a drum, and they're out to earn their new coach's respect.

With great senior leaders Bearden raises its game and Farragut folds again.

What is Bearden record against Farragut over the last 4 years? Who has 2 state championships in the last 3 years? Until Bearden steps up and knocks Farragut from the top, talk is cheap.

Like I said earlter, I know kids from both schools and coached some of those kids and coached against some of those kids also, and I do not think any of them played T-ball cause most of them were playing for the Stars or Dodgers at 8 years old. I have alot of respect for both programs and the kids will settle this on the field. So sit back and enjoy.

  8. The Johnson kid will help Coalfield out for sure. The thing about him is he is limited to a certain postion and that is 3rd base or pitcher. OR will miss his pitching but OR is strong on the infield with 3 sophs starting. They moved so he could start his jr and sr year. I think Coalfield will benefit from that move.

  9. It will be a toss up between Bearden and Farragut. Both have great athletes. I watch alot of those kids from both schools play ball since they were 8 years old and I know baseball means the world to them. I promise you that both teams will be ready to compete this year...count on it.

Good luck to both schools this year.

  10. How many trasfer does Coalfield have and what schools did they transfer from? Did the kids transfer because of school problems or were they not good enough to get playing time at their previous schools and decided to move to Coalfield?
